  • FIOS Internet Outage in whole of NJ

    Hi folks,
Would greatly appreciate if any one can confirm this...
Is it true that whole of NJ is facing FIOS outage right now... I.e. 2011/06/14 1930 hrs EST and outage still continuing...?
Just got off a call with support after being on wait for 45 minutes due to high call volume, and I was told there that outage area is entire NJ and there is no ETA.
I asked where I could find status of this outage on internet and I was told by the support person that she does not know about it.  Hence I asked what are the best ways to find out the status and I was told
    a. Try going to verizon.net in the morning and if I am able to get there that means internet is back up
    b. Call the same support number...
Is Verizon really serious in this day and age with what I have been just told???? No ETA.. No status etc....
Frankly speaking... I am a unhappy camper due to such a response!

    Tonya,
Thanks for follow-up. I did receive a call after 14 hours of outage that  my problem may have been fixed. However as you can see it does not enable an individual to plan ahead of time and thus my suggestion to Verizon is to
    a. Proactively inform impacted customers that Verizon detected an outage and is currently working on its resolution. This will help Verizon in reducing the number of calls to their support center and help customers by their not having to waste time and wait for 45 minutes as I did.
    b. Provide an ETA as to when the issue is expected to be fixed. I understand that it may not always be possible to estimate this accurately but, a ballpark would work as well, as it will at least allow people to plan ahead of time.
    Thanks!
How do you propose that they inform customers? If the internet service is out, a website or an email would be ineffective for most since they couldn't access it. I certainly don't want a phone call at noon telling me that my internet isn't working (I work nights), and I'm sure you wouldn't want one at 3 AM. Snail mail would take so long to arrive that the outage would most likely be over before it was received.
I'm not saying they shouldn't have an easy way for customers to find out when there's an outage, but the logistics of a proactive notification are a nightmare.

  • Fios tv outage, north jersey

anyone else have no fios tv in north jersey

TV and telephone outage in Yardley, PA.  Dial tone on phone works but can't make calls - rapid busy signal.  Tried calling Verizon on both land line and cell and get same rapid busy.  Online support not working either.  Error messages instead of help.  What's going on?  How widespread is this?  When will it be resolved?

  • Is there a fios internet outage in zip 20191 now

there should be an easy way to check this

I agree with a way to check online wether there are reported issues and service down in your area. Would be much more helpful. I've been down since 9pm EST last evening (in the 08753 zip code) and according to the tech on live chat I used last night while tethered to my cell was:
Raymundo(22:52:16): FSC reports per Construction, an unknown source hit a 216 count fiber while digging and covered up the damage. A locate crew and digging crew is en route to locate the exact location of the damage so that repairs can begin
Yet when I called about an hour ago, Verizon has no knowledge of such an outage and tells me they need to send someone out... on FRIDAY. Poor service here imho. As far as I see it, either someone is getting bad information or they just aren't in communication with each other.

  • FIOS NY outage Dix Hills, NY

My FIOS internet has been down for over 42 hours. Estimated Restoration times are not accurate. I also cannot get a time for when a Verizon technician is scheduled to arrive at my home..
    Here is my ticket number for your reference {edited for privacy}
    Thank you,

  • FiOS TV outage -- Maryland

Yesterday afternoon, my FiOS TV lost the guide and most all channels.  I called in and was told to expect it to be fixed in about 2 hours.  Well, it's 27 hours later and now I have the guide, but the few channels that are "back" are digitizing and have no sound.... other than WGN... apparently I'm only allowed to watch Cheers reruns.
When is this going to be fixed?  I'm tryng to call in again, but have now been on hold and subjected to very bad elevator music for at least 1/2 hour.
I was told yesterday that the issues were centered in Laurel, that may or may not be the case, but this is getting ridiculous.

I am sorry to hear about your service interruption. I have sent you a private message to get some account info from you so I can look this up.

  • Purchased eSATA expander, have new DVR STB, need IMG 1.9 for them to see each other

    Hello,
I purchased the DVR expander via Verizon's WD link and now have the newest DVR, but the STB still does not see the expander.
It looks as though I need the software upgrade to IMG_1.9 for the issue to be resolved.
I live in Rockaway Park, Queens, NY and was wondering when that will be pushed through, or if one can request it via tech support.
    Thank you.

It is rumored to be distributed to the last area on 10-JAN-2012.  Verizon NEVER releases actual dates.
No uou can't request it, it is pushed to a wide area in one shot.

  • FIOS Outage due to storms - No technician appointment available until Sunday?

Storms knocked out power in the Richmond VA area on Monday.  Power has been restored in most areas but I have no FIOS TV or Internet - I called technical support and they walked me through a manual reboot of the main box but that did not resolve the problem so it appears to be an outside line issue.  The representative advised that the earliest tech appointment available is Sunday  - 6 days from the beginning of the outage??   I work from home and this is a major deal.  The power outages were fairly concentrated in areas so I wonder whether someone at Verizon is assessing and coordinating response as the power company does so that it is most efficient.  Is there anything I can do from my end to identify the exact issue?   The power company has contractors working in the area - is it possible for Verizon to use the same contractors?  Will I be credited for the outage period?    Help -  Desperate in Richmond

You don't go into the details as to why the account was suspended ... that background might be helpful since you're asking others for their opinion.  In general it sounds like the account was "deleted" at which point all mail is bounced because the address no longer exists -- but Verizon holds the name in reserve for some period of time to prevent someone from re-registering it in case an error was made and for some level of security, I suppose.
Anyhow ... on your commentary about not using an @verizon.net address as your primary address ... I think you will have this with many providers.  Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail all do this if you terminate the account (they do have a suspended account due to inactivity feature which operates differently, but pretty much do the same thing for deletions and such.   I don't use the @verizon.net account as my primary for a different reason however -- my primary address is provider agnostic.   I can move providers (although I'm quite happy with FiOS at the moment) -or- if at some point down the road I have to move out of Verizon territory, my email address will not need to change.  I used this little fact to my advantage when I moved from Comcast to Verizon a few years ago -- no one knew I changed providers because my email address didn't change.   Now .. I don't use one of the free services for email, I own my own domain name (about $10/year from the likes of GoDaddy) and have my domain hosted on the Google Apps tier (but even without that, GoDaddy will do basic forwarding for you of any email address to whatever mail account you're presently using).    Something to think about.

  • Where is the FiOS Outage Map?

Does FiOS have an online outage map?
If they do, it isn't easy to find.
If not, they need one. I highly recommend something like:
    http://www.pepco.com/home/emergency/maps/stormcenter/
It is very frustrating not knowing if the service is out, or just my house.
And it is insulting, my opinion, that FiOS website simply says "Verizon is working to restore your service" and then says that is "Everything you need to know."
What I 'need to know' is how widespread is the outage and when is my estimated restoral time.
    Again Verizon, very frustrating.

To my knowledge, Verizon FiOS does not offer an outage map. It has been repeatedly suggested. The only link they send you to is the verizon.com/outage page that will send you through the troubleshooter. But from the information you provided in your question, that's the page you've already been to. If the troubleshooter does not provide you with any assistance, you can always try 1(800)VERIZON, or chat, or twitter. But unless it's a large and long outage, their CSRs are often "in the dark" about it as well. Which would lead me to believe they do not have an internal outage map either.

  • Fios Rollout Schedule for Queens, New York

I was wondering if and when verizon fios would be made available in Woodhaven, Queens. At the moment the fastest plan you offer in our area is 1.5mbps which is quite slow, and recently time warner knocked on our door offering 40mbps down and 5 up, but for an outrageous price of $100. I was wondering if fios would be made available here within a year, to see if I should make a deal with the devil.

No way to really tell. Verizon does not publish its rollout sechedule to anyone. Not even their customer service or repair people. In fact many of the people who you talk to on the phone, dont know until the customers start calling in. Verizon claims that they are trying to prevent the competition from going out the weeks before a rollout and re-locking people into contracts to prevent the switching. Now there is a web site (I dont have it but I'm sure someone will post it) that does show the areas that they plan to put fios in, but the problem is that it doesnt give any timeline. it could be tomorrow or it could be 5 years down the line. Usually you'll know before anyone else, because you will see them out laying the lines in the neighborhood. Seems a good rule of thumb is that after they lay the lines in the neighborhood, then it goes on sale about 6-8 weeks later. Not always true but true more often than not.

  • Power Outages shut down Fios for 24 hours??

I have had Fios for a few years now, and every time that there is a power outage, even if briefly, the Fios internet goes down and will not connect after power is restored. There is then a beep from the box in the garage, and the light has then been moved to an orange color. It takes about 24 hours for the box to reset, generally the next morning it will work.
My boyfriend has the same Fios box, however when his power goes out at his home, this situation never occurs and the internet will come back as soon as power is available.
Is this normal? Is there a way to fix it. It is an incredible inconvenience and am tempted to switch just for that fact
    Please help!!.

The beepin on the ONT means that it is still running on battery power, definately call the FSC (Fiber Solutions Center) if it is still beeping. They will most likely have you make sure that the outlet that the box is plugged into is getting power and no breakers were tripped. If all is ok on your end they will most likely send a technician to get this repaired.

  • FiOS Outage in Woodbridge?

My Fios Internet, TV and phone has been down since 08/06/2012 @ approximately 6pm. I have called tech support at least 5 times. Each time there is a recorded message that states, there is an outage in your area. The next message states there is an extended wait due to high call volume at this time. The technicians run an online diagnostic and state that they do not see an outage. I have unplugged the power and battery back up to the phone system twice. This has not resolved the issue. When I use the internet diagnostics, for the phone line, no issue found. When I run the diagnostic for the TV, it states they have detected an outage in my area, channel 99999 VOD content (I am assuming VOD is Verizon on Demand). Yesterday, this page stated that Verizon was committed to having the outage resolved by 08/08/2012 @ 2:23am. It now says they are committed to resolving the outage by 08/09/2012 @ 2:19am. The technician I called this morning stated the issue was resolved yesterday. I asked if that is the case, why is there: 1. A high call volume when calling tech support 2. There is a recorded message that states, there is an outage in your area. 3. The online system states there is an outage in your area. 4. My phone, internet and TV reception are down. 5. TV diagnostic states 0db of signal.

I am sorry to hear about the long service interruption. Since it has been a couple of days, are you still having troubles with the service? Please reply back so we can look further into this if need be.

  • Fios outage

is there an outage in the laurel area...steward manor apartments route 197 198

We also had an outage here last night.  First blip in the several years we've had FiOS.  In our case, Internet and phone service was out but TV still worked.
I called tech support and they told me someone had knocked down a pole on a street near here, that repair crews were on the scene, and that service would be restored by 6 this morning.  All turned out to be correct.
If you want to find out if you're service is back up and don't have any other way to do so before you get home, I suggest you call tech support:  1-888-553-1555.  That worked for me.
