Fios wireless card problems

: My new Dell laptop computer keeps losing association with my router. no other wireless device in my home has this problem. Also this computer can connect to other wireless devices outside my home. Seems to be a unique Fios problem. Any ideas?

IF you have win 7 - manage  wireless networks- delete the existing wireless network and set it up fresh.

The laptop identifies the card, loads drivers but gives error message that there was a problem and device won't function.  The device manager indicates a code 10 error
Are there any other drivers or software that I am overlooking?

Just Google it. But, I liked this review of 6 different ones.

• Tip: Temp work around for Intel 7260 wireless card problems

I am currently having lot of issues with the Intel 7260 wireless card relating to unstable network connections (i.e. limited or no network connections, frequent dropouts). These problems are quite widespread, so it is not limited to Lenovo branded machines, many other brand of laptops are also having similar problem. This workaround is temporary until the laptop company and intel provides an official fix.

Step 1. Go into your control panel -> System Security -> System
Step 2. Click on Device Manager on the left hand side of the window.
Step 3. Click on Network Adapters
Step 4. Right click on Intel Wireless 7260, and click on properties
Step 5. Click on Advanced Tab
Step 6. Click on HT Mode and then select disable as an option.
Disabling the HT mode means you are operating the wireless card in G mode (54 mbps), for some people this is too slow, but it is an acceptable short term solution for preventing frequent network connection dropouts.

• Lenovo g570 and wireless card problems

Ello folks,
I recently bought a Lenovo g570 Notebook, started using it all went fine recently i even upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 x 64 and everything was swell. At some point my wireless connection was working fine but then BAM my wireless connection dissappeared from the list of connections. I must say that i had the same problem with the previous windows 7. Figured that the broadcast from the router was the problem but it turned out it wasn't sooo i'm assuming it's some kind of setting from the laptop because all other wireless using tech from home can see that particular network, all except the lenovo notebook.
Any help would be appreciated. I must say that i recently updated every driver to the latest after deinstalling the previous ones, without any result..... It's driving me nuts ....

• Wireless Card Problems after Upgrade

Hi,
Just updated to new kernel and udev... got everything running back to normal without much problems cept my wireless card.
I got a cardbus card so I have to use ndiswrapper to load it.. but if I boot up with the card in, the computer freezes at the network module. It will boot up without the wireless card inserted.. but once I login and insert it it freezes up.
I've tried rmmod ndiswrapper module but that freezes up the comp too..
Anyone have any suggestions???

As I understand it my laptop has been fine and it uses broadcom-wl, and I just re-yaourt it each time my kernel version changes using a cable in my router. But I believe there is something called dkms and a version of the driver for it, which (I haven't read fully into it) is something like a separate tree, which can (from what little I've read) eliminate this need to recompile every time, however I literally read this 5 minutes ago, from the AUR page for broadcom-wl and a quick google so I wouldn't be surprised if there is more to it than that.

• Wireless Card Problem

Following the info found in this forum, I've been trying to use a Netgear WG511T wireless card on my Powerbook G3 OS 10.2. I downloaded and installed the Orangeware driver, but after inserting the card (the light on the card blinks) the computer freezes during reboot and I get a grey screen with lines across the screen. This driver is supposed to work with this card, but I haven't been able to get past the reboot stage. Everything works fine without the card inserted. Am I missing something? Are the Mac gods playing with my mind? I really want this to work.

Hello,
cmlle, I have exactly the same problem.
For months I have been using Orangeware wireless driver on my Pismo G3/400 OSX 10.4 in combination with Netgear WG511T card with no problems at all.
Suddenly one day a black square appeared on the grey background when booting my Pismo. I red that is something to do with Kernel Panic but I don’t know much about that.
So it took several rebooting until Pismo appeared to be OK. But then a few times the screen just went black. That eventually stopped but instead Pismo would just freeze.
I then discovered that if I take my Netgear card out my Pismo, it unfreezes and start to work normally. If I then try to insert the card again while the computer is on the card wouldn’t connect with my router but only one LED would flash.
I eventually reinstalled OS but to no avail. I am so puzzled.
I would be ever so grateful if somebody could make a logical sense of all these symptoms.
Many thanks again
Alex

• Linksys wireless card problems

Just today, I purchased the new Airport Extreme and hooked up the wireless network to my iMac. My roommate has a PC with a new Linksys wireless card. When trying to access the iternet using the Airport Etreme, it gives an error saying that 'Cannot associate with the access point'.
Our neighbor has an unsecured wireless connection and she can use that just fine. How can we get her onto our own wireless network?
Thanks!

Per chance to you have your AX configured to NOT broadcast its "Network Name?" (Note: In the PC world, this would also be called the SSID.) If so, I would re-enable it so that it does.
As the issue is most likely Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) on your PC, I would try the following:
o In the WZC menu, remove all of the preferred networks, and then, restart the PC.
o With the AX configured for WPA Personal, add back the AX's network as your preferred network.
Did WZC find the AX's network? If not, can it find any networks in the local area? If it did not find the AX's network, did it allow you to add it? Can you PC connect to any other wireless network?

• MacPro Wireless Card Problems

Hi:
I installed a new wireless card in an early 2009 MacPro (2x2.26GHz 2 core w/ 8GB of RAM).
I've done it before (wires 2 & 3 on the terminals) and the wireless does come up and connects to my router.
Unfortunately, the whole purpose of the exercise was to be able to create a computer-to-computer local network for iPad content development.
When I go to create a local network, I don't have any channels and the connection attempt fails.
Any idea why I don't have channels and how I might get them back?
Thanks.

• Third party wireless card problem

I installed a Sitecom WL-171 Wireless Network PCI Card (http://sitecom.com/drivers_result.php?groupid=5&productid=525) and appropriate driver.
I ran the set-up and the card was found and then connected to my WDS network via its own utility program.
The problem is the G4 doesn't seem to recognize this network connection.
I phoned Sitecom who said to change PCI slots which I did but didn't help and Apple want to charge me £35 with no guarantee of a fix!
Is there a simple way to manually configure network connections so the G4 reocognizes the card?

Eventually solved by copying Ethernet ip settings when it was hardwired to router into the PCI Slot 3 settings where the card is housed

• Lenovo t60 1951-cto wireless card problems

i recentally purchesed this computer from a freind. i put a fresh install of windows xp sp2 on it right away. iv gotten the ethernet port to work. however i cant find the right wireless driver. in device manager under network adapterers it only shows the ethernet card. under other devices there is still two unknown devices and a modem device on high definition audio bus.... iv tryed multiple drivers. with no luck. does this computer even have built in wireless? it has the wireless symbol by the battery light, but it never comes on. there is also a wireless fn key. but i havent been able to use any of my fn keys. any ideas?

Sorry, let me further add I get the following messages from Access connections after the wireless connection fails....
Error code: 011

None of these messages are helpful or should be the problem.  I had been using wireless access on this laptop with the same router for several years before 'uprading' the dirver...that's when my problems started.

• Ath9k Atheros wireless card problem

Hello everyone!
A friend of mine just bought an awesome laptop, and wanted me to help him setup a new Archlinux installation.
Everything went smooth, except for the wireless network card.
From the Device Manager of Windows Vista of the laptop, i saw it is an Atheros card, with the AR9820 chipset, which is supposed to work just fine with the latest ath9k driver (or the madwifi one).
The respective lspci -vvv output is:
14:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Device 002a (rev 01)
Subsystem: Askey Computer Corp. Device 7136
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 19
Region 0: Memory at f2100000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable)
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: ath9k
Kernel modules: ath9k
It is bizzare that the module of the card is not recognized (in the first line, it does not indicate anything apart from the Atheros thing, no AR9820 sign)..
The rc.conf of interest part:
MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes"
MODULES=(... ath_hal ath9k ...)
wlan0="dhcp"
wlan_wlan0="wlan0 essid BlaBla_essid key BlaBla_key"
INTERFACES=(eth0 wlan0)
gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
ROUTES=(gateway)
With this setup, he can connect to the router, acquire a valid IP address (192.168.1.2), but he can ping to nowhere.
He keeps getting a host unreachable error.
Any ideas what has gone wrong?
Thnx!

Just something that MAY be related...
excerpt from Kernel Changelog for 2.6.27.3:
commit f76f2408cccf448917c8a2a2b775571fd60aee30

Date: Thu Oct 16 19:05:12 2008 +0000
ath9k/mac80211: disallow fragmentation in ath9k, report to userspace
commit 4233df6b748193d45f79fb7448991a473061a65d upstream
As I've reported, ath9k currently fails utterly when fragmentation
is enabled. This makes ath9k "support" hardware fragmentation by
not supporting fragmentation at all to avoid the double-free issue.
The patch also changes mac80211 to report errors from the driver
operation to userspace.
That hack in ath9k should be removed once the rate control algorithm
it has is fixed, and we can at that time consider removing the hw
fragmentation support entirely since it's not used by any driver.

• Macbook with Verizon USB720 wireless card problems

I have the Verizon USB720 with a new Macbook. I am able to connect to the internet, but the device often just disconnects from the USB port and drops my connection. It happens sporadically. The green light on the modem goes off and the Verizon Access Manager doesn't "see" the device. I have to unplug it for a few seconds and then plug it back in for the computer to recognize it.
What might cause this?? I have the latest access manager software.

For starters I would narrow it down and get the card replaced.
Or try it on another computer..mac or PC. If it still doesn't work, then you got your answer.

• G500 Driver_Power_State_Failure problem most likely related to Wireless Card

I recently upgraded my Lenovo G500 laptop to 8.1.
After that, I've been constantly getting BSOD every time I modify some settings on my WIreless card (Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter). For instance, changing my MAC under the"Locally Administered MAC Address" causes the Wireless configuration window to stop responding, then my wireless adapter becomes permanently disabled (I try to enable it and it says that it is enabling but the adapter remains faded out and locked in a disabled state) unless I restart or power down my laptop. If I restart, the laptop hangs for 3-5 minutes and then a BSOD comes up and suggests that I look online for DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
I have updated the adapter as well as most, if not all outdated drivers on my laptop with the 8.1 drivers offered on Lenovo's support pages (This includes power management, BIOS, LAN, Audio, etc.). Even attempting to voluntarily disable my wireless card causes the BSOD.
As long as I don't touch/modify such settings, I have wireless internet and all seems fine but once I do what I stated above, my laptop crashes with a BSOD. I have looked up and searched about such a BSOD but my laptop has zero problems when I put it to sleep or wake it up. My laptop functions practically flawless except for when changing/modifying settings on my wireless card.

I'm almost certain that my wireless card probably is defective, or the laptop is defective. I'm still under warranty but I'm hoping to fix this issue before resorting to what I deem as last resorts of factory restoring the laptop or calling Lenovo support.
I am also providing minidumps, driver lists and a whole ton of useful information on my Skydrive:

Any suggestions or help on this matter would be greatly appreciated as I feel like I've exhausted all other methods.

"If I restart, the laptop hangs for 3-5 minutes and then a BSOD comes up and suggests that I look online for DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE."
I had the exact same problem on a Thinkpad Helix after upgrading to Windows 8.1, although I do not know if it was in anyway related to the wireless hardware as you described. However, I noted that in the Device Manager many wireless hardware components had been highlighted with an exclamation mark since the problem had occured (e.g. Bluetooth, Geolocation, Broadband). Here is how I fixed it:
1. I went to System Settings / Device Manager.
2. Disabled all devices that were highlighted with an exclamation mark. I noted that the Device Manager would not respond after disabling so I closed it and then chose to not wait (i.e. forced the Device Manager to close).
3. Repeated step (2.) until all devices highlighted with an exclamation mark were disabled.
4. Restarted the laptop (I don't know if I had to force the shut down via power off at that time, but it may be necessary or you wait for the BSOD).
5. Repeated step (1.) and uninstalled all the drivers of the devices disabled in steps (2.) to (3.), enabling the option to remove the driver from the system, where possible.
6. Restarted the system. This time the shutdown should only take a few seconds.
So far, everything works fine again and I cannot identify any limitations through the disabling and uninstalling of devices (esp. wireless devices do work flawlessly).
Hope this works for some of you guys out there as well. Let me know.
Good luck!
