What is the update on FIOS 1 coming to NYC Area? its needed to compete with TWC and CV in NYC, NJ and LI. I was told FIOS 1 is a 24 hour local channel, who has it , can confirm what exactly it is ? Also when is NBC Weather + going to the all news channel ? It was suppose to be done already.

Washington D.C. metro area has it. I am in Mongomery county MD and there are local sports and some county events I think. But can't say I have ever looked at it.

It has definitely nothing to do with the card. As I said, I had successfully imported all photos from the camera in mid October, added locations, watched a diashow and published an album of that event on MobileMe.
One thing I remember: Two weeks ago I had the MacBook at a friend's place, importing a couple of photos just for a diashow. After the show I closed the MacBook (very likely) without quiting iPhoto and put it back into the bag. Maybe the library got corrupted at this point? Maybe iPhoto was still writing data during the shutdown, or something.
For documentaion sake: I have deleted the corrupted album in Photo yesterday. Emptying the trashbin afterwards made iPhoto (and eventually the entire OS) freezing again, so I had to manually kill and restart iPhoto. After restarting iPhoto the trashbin contained a couple of placeholders and photos of the corrupted album. Emptying the trashbin worked fine the second time.
How can I check the entire library for data integrity?
Why on earth is the entire OS freezing for minutes when Finder is trying to read a corrupted image file? There should be presented an error message to the user immediately.

Fios 1 in New York City

Hi. I live in Queens Village, NY. I signed up to Verizon 3 years ago. I was told at the time that Verizon 1 which is a local channel based in Long Island would be included. After installation, I had no Verizon 1. The channel is offered on the Verizon mobile app, in Brooklyn which is in the opposite direction and in some areas in Queens. I live 3 minutes from Elmont, Long Island and can not understand why It's not offered to viewers in my neighborhood. Please look into fixing this problem.

Why no James Madison at Hofstra game on MASN

WHY in the world is MASN showing ESPN News or SportsCenter or whatever crap programming it is when the MASN guide clearly states James Madison at Hofstra basketball game?

I know Hofstra is one of the school's that FiOS1 televises. Maybe the game was on Ch. 1 and thus was blacked out on MASN.

FIOS 1 and local origination channels in Toms River NJ

I am confused about what the status is with Fios 1 where I live. If I go on my account on the Verizon website, and look at the TV Guide listings on line, it shows the channel in the line up. I can not get it on any of my set top boxes, however, the channel is there through my QAM tuners on both my TV set and DVD recorder (SD signal only, not HD).
Friends who live in another part of town apparantly do get the channel 1/501 on their boxes, and it shows up in their on screen guide. It doesn't on ours.
I really don't want to call about it as it will probably be more hassle than it is worth, and I probably wouldn't watch it much anyway, but it is another option and would be nice to have. Anyone else out there having a similar observation?
Also, just discovered that the channel from Ocean County College is now on Fios on channel 26 (it's branded as Ocean 20, as that's the channel it is on for Comcast). They show NASA TV on the overnight hours, for those who are interested.
Oddly, we are also getting the board of education channel for Kenilworth, NJ on channel 26. Could that be a test signal for possibly getting the Toms River Schools channel sometime in the near future? Strange as it might sound, that is probably the one channel that we had on Comcast that I miss, if for no other reason than it was the best early warning for school closings. (BTW, the Toms River Schools channel is a lot more polished than what I've seen from Kenilworth, for what it's worth.)

Hey TR-Tim...thanks for you interest in Fios1. Currently Fios1 is available to Northern New Jersey customers. Once it becomes available in your area, you will recieve 30 days notice prior to it coming out. Fios 1 is not encrypted which is why you are able to pick up the channel outside of your box. Fios 1 is not currently available in your market which is why it is not being broadcasted thru our boxes.
For your second question, your muncipalities makes the decision as to what access channels are broadcasted. We, here at Verizon, don't make those decisions. You can actually go to your municipality and ask them what their procedure is regarding local access channels and what kind of content you would like to have broadcasted. They in turn submit that information to us.

MASN 2 HD channel?

Just joined fios from 17 years of DirecTV....where we had every sports channel under the sun. I'm looking for the MASN 2 channel to watch a game tonight, but I cannot find it....HELP!

Look on channel 501. They will pre-empt FiOS1 for MASN2 whenever they show a game. The UMass/Richmond game is on right now but it isn't listed in the guide.

When I switched to FiOS from Cablevision, I was thrilled. At that time Cablevision had held back MSG HD from FiOS. They lost that in court. So FiOS gained it. At one time they had exclusice cariage of MSNBC. They lost that. Their only in house channel is local news News12. Since FiOS doesn't air a FiOS1 in Westchester/Rockland, I wish they could cut a deal to carry News12. I know it'll never happen. But Verizon needs to pump up it's local news.

When FIOS first came to my area in Westchester. I think 2009, the sales guys said FIOS 1 for Westerchester would be up in a few months. They really used that as a selling point. Haha 4 years later still no FIOS 1 for Westchester.

MASN2HD Audio & Video Glitching

I am experiencing audio and video glitching, with both dropping out every 15 seconds or so, while watching MASN2HD on channel 501. So far I've only noticed it while MASN2 is on 501 - I can't say whether Fios1 HD is also glitching. MASN2 SD on channel 1 does not have the same problem. I've experienced this on multiple TV sets. I tried powering off the DVR/STB with no change.
I was going to try resetting them through Verizon.com, but it gives me an authentication error whenever I try.

What a screw-up today.

Verizon FIOS made a big announcement about broadcasting Hofstra University home lacrosse games. Since it was NOT on today's schedule,I called Verizon FIOS customer service.I was told the game would be broadcast at 1:30 PM,on Fios 1.At 1:48 PM,I called again and was told the game would be on FIOS1. Not so.Called again at 2:15 and was told the same YADA,YADA.

Fios 1- Toms River NJ

I also have a question about Fios1. I am in Toms River, NJ. We do not have Fios1 available in my home on any of our convertors/adaptors. However, I have both a TV and a DVD recorder with QAM tuners, and the channel does show up on them both.
My question then is two-fold. If the channel is there, why isn't it receivable with my cable boxes? And when will it be? If anybody from Verizon can give me the answer I would be pleased.
Also, is there any plan on having our local school channel as part of the local origination line up? We do get Ocean County College now, which is good, but not the local Toms River schools channel. Years back when it was Bell Atlantic and they were offering an alternative cable service they did carry that channel, so I would think Verizon could now. We have been getting a local origination channel from Kenilworth, NJ (a long way from Toms River). Thanks in advance!
