Pay attention to what rkaufmann87 is saying, because I agree.
Chrome is very resource intensive.
It is possible you are running other memory intensive apps.
You have a lot of 3rd party additions loaded at boot time. Do you really need all of them? Even after you get rid of MacCleaner (as suggested by rkaufmann87).
Do you really need the seagate and WD drive software? The Mac is fairly good at accessing disks without 3rd party intervention.
Any of the 3rd party additions listed by EtreCheck that you do not need, you should consider uninstalling.

Preferences are not saving. Each time I start Fire Fox it acts as if it is my first time starting the program.

Each time I open Fire Fox, it acts as if it is the first time I'm opening the program. The 'Welcome to Fire Fox' first-run page always shows up when I open the program.
None of my preferences, like the custom themes, save - however my bookmarks, which I chose to have transferred over from my previous Fire Fox, seem to be saving.

However, I am unable to delete or make changes (such as renaming) the ''Prefs'' file because it keeps telling me that the file is open. Still not able to use fire fox, Fire fox works in safe mode but then it will freeze up and run slow when i try to use a link. All my drivers ect are up to date.

My Fire Fox will only open in xp sp1 but then it will run slow and freeze up when i try to view a link, i have just about given up with this problem as i have tried every thing that might fix this problem.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".

My computer has been running "dial up" slow since the last update of Fire Fox. Is there any connection?

My computer was just updated to a higher speed connection and was doing good speed wise even before. Now it takes forever to load or navigate in all capacities, that is until I got to this site and I can click as fast as I can here and there is no slow down. Will go back to my home page and see how bad it is there. Problems running Flash 11.7.700.224 on Fire Fox 22.0

Problems running Flash 11.7.700.224 on Windows 8, browser Fire Fox 22.0. Plug-in crashing and/or not responsive messages; browser hanging and/or slow, especially when opening new windows; You Tube videos error messages; Flash not detected on Adobe Troubleshooting page, even though installed; Flash content loads but does not display in window (no frame, or black or white screen in frame). Thank you for any reply, hopefully simple -I'm not technically inclined.

After using Flash player 11.8.800.94 for one day, it crashed.
So, I uninstalled it using the uninstaller provided by adobe then
disabled avast then
reinstalled 11.8.800.94.
Attempted to restart, but got this error message:
The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x74c02005.
While writing it down, restart reverted to desktop.
Successfully restarted and opened FF22.0 browser and

I could not see the Flash movie, the version checker said that Flash Player is not installed -- even though it shows Shockwave Flash 11.8.800.94 installed on the plugins list on Fire fox add-ons manager.
Is there a difference between Flash Player 11.8.800.94 and the latest Flash Player plugin for Fire Fox, or are they the same thing?
I have no idea how to fix this and not finding any clear answers on any of the other discussion question pages on this topic.

FIRE FOX IS GETTING SLOWER AND SLOWER LOADING PAGES I GO TO ONLINE. IT LOAD CIRCLE STOP SPINNING AND WILL START BACK BUT IT TAKES IT'S TIME TO DO SO. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON THROUGH THE LAST SEVERAL UPGRADES.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Fire fox locks up and is real slow when using windows 7 64bit

I am using windows 7, 64bit
when you click on a "go to link" phrase/word the program either locks up or takes a real long time to to go to the link site.
program loads real slow (it take 3 to 4 times longer than in windows xp.
I am using fire fox 4.0.1, this problem is the same with earlier versions as well

I have followed the troubleshooting solutions, reset, no add-ons etc.. even full uninstall & reinstall. Nothing has worked to resolve the issue.
FF hangs with Not Responding is frequent, while this is hung, it locks up my entire PC and I cannot do anything including opening Task Manager.

I down load latest fire fox but when run tells me I dont have the latest & fox button does not go to sync setting.

I have downloaded the latest addition of fire fox changing the language to UK English. When I run the down lode under the Google box the system says that I am not running the latest version.
I also have a Samson Tablet & having down loaded Firefox it asks me to sync with my computer. Thus I accessed the computer how to sync & clicked on the Firefox button at the top left of the screen (This only shows Restore Minimize Close) No path to sync data.

hello WallyWalsh, if this warning is showing up you might have to reset the homepage to the version that is used in firefox 4 & above (the old homepage will show the warning you have referenced). to change it go to firefox > tools > options > general & reset the homepage to the default (that's '''about:home''').
