Fireface - Clicks?

Anyone else with my set-up haveing problems with their fire face?
I'm getting clicks during playback, even with a low track/plug count.
Even worse, clicks on recorded tracks. When I zoom in, they are stright up and down lines, which tells me it is dropping frames/samples.
Any help?

I must have installed about 12 systems with Fireface + G5 and never had a problem. However, I installed a system with a class compliant Mackie Onyx w/ Firewire option which just wouldn't work, and the client ended up getting a firewire card, which fixed the problem.
Seems, as Danseq is saying, that the problem might lie with the G5's firewire busses, not the Fireface or the Onyx.
But this one sounds to me like a simple digital sync problem. Make sure the Fireface control panels shows 'internal' sync.

Fireface 800 issues!

my channel levels in logic pop to +6 max and distorting by themselves, accross all channels too.
I shut off automation or wrote some to avoid any fader motion on but they still change by themselves regardless, same in the Fireface mixer., i will see numbers changing by themselves.
-Using a iMac C2D, 2GB Ram, 750 HD.
-I have inputs on front and rear turned on, +4 on mic gains.
-I also get pops and crackles even after i updated the audio via software update.
My issues with this unit is i can not work due to levels staying at +6, like i mentioned above, i would move a fader and it just goes yo +6 by itself, in the Fireface Mixer it shows numbers flickering, if anyone knows why please do let me know if it is something i'am doing wrong.

My gues would be something is sending MIDI controller data to Logic. If your only MIDI controller is disconnected and it still happens, then maybe it's the Fireface control panel as already mentioned.
Open your environment, and insert a Monitor object between the Physical Input object and Sequencer Thru objects (in the Click&Ports layer).
Do you see controller data coming in? If so, something is sending this data to Logic. You can of course use Logic to filter this stuff (insert transformer objects set to filter out what you want) but this is a brute force fix - better to find the source of the MIDI data and turn it off there, if you can.

RME Fireface 800 Help

I'm gonna be short and sweet on this one, sorry.
Me and a few colleagues recently purchased the RME FireFace 800 Interface with a multitude of other things to start a label. Our problem is we cant seem to get Adobe Audition 3 to recognize/record with the interface. Were thinking its something dumb we overlooked in the settings of something. Any help is appreciated. We are running Windows Vista (:( brand new comp, sorry.), with enough memory and such.

Is the 'host' light on the FF800 red? If so, then the computer is not seeing the FF800 (or more accurately, the FF800 is not seeing the computer). The host light SHOULD NOT be lit when a proper connection is established. Are you running the latest drivers for the FF800 (2.86)? Can you see activity in the RME TotalMix app (for FF800, it is called FireFace Mixer)? If so, click <Ctrl> preset 2 in the FireFace settings to load up the factory preset that routes all inputs 1-to-1 to the outputs and also a headphone mix. If all that is working and you can hear inputs in the headphones connected to the FF800, then you should be able to choose the FF800 in the list of devices for the MultiTrack and Edit tabs under device setup in AA3. --Dean

Fireface 800 Operation

I am having a difficult time understanding how my rme fireface 800 controls the volume output of my imac.
Is there someone out there that has a fireface 800 that would be willing to help me understand a couple things?
I have the rme fireface 800 connected to my imac via the firewire 800. I have Dynaudio powered monitors connected to outputs of the fireface 800 7+8. All I'd like to do is have the fireface 800 control the output with the master fader of a mackie control universal pro. I just purchased the mcu recently to use with logic studio and to have the capability to control my itunes and logic output with the mcu fader instead of the software mixer. It is a PITA to control volume with a mouse.
I guess I don't understand how to setup the patchbay in the fireface software. I have read the manual and it is pretty difficult to understand, at least for me.

If you haven't found the answer you're looking for yet, I would first make sure you have the Fireface Mixer setup correctly.
If you have your Dynaudio monitors connected to outputs 7 & 8, you would have to make sure the faders in the Fireface Mixer middle row (Playback section) are sending a signal to the Analog Output of the Fireface Mixer which is the bottom row.
Under every fader in the middle Playback row, you'll see where that fader is sending it's signal to. Since most every program will default to sending signals to the analog outs of the Fireface 800 via Out 1 and Out 2, make sure these outputs are sending their signals out through AN 7+8 since you have your monitors connected to the outputs 7 & 8 of your Fireface 800. Every output channel in the middle row of the Fireface mixer has it's Analog destination so you would just click underneath the fader to change the destination.
After you have that set up correctly you can bring your mackie control into the picture I believe.

Clicks and spaces during recording

I experienced many clicks when I record. I see this not depends on the number of tracks or samplitude I set. I usually record at 88.2 kHz x 24 bit. The chain is made by MacBook Pro (last model), RME Fireface 800 through cable Firewire 800, Apogee Rosetta 8 channel set at 88.2 kHz x 24 bit too, Prism Sound Maselec and Neumann microphones. 4 channels in total. The problem is present when I record on the same session for more than 45 minutes - 1 hour. My tried buffer size was of 256 or 512.
Any possible solution?

I just picked up a Fireface UCX and ran into this problem, as well as another one.
MacBook Air, 2GHz i7, 8GB RAM, SSD hard drive, OSX 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion), with a RME Fireface UCX connected via USB to a dedicated USB port (not connected to a hub).
In Audition the hardware buffer size was set to 128 and sample rate was 44100Hz for the recording, and it happened at higher buffer sizes. Lots of clicking throughout a recording. That said, I had done a 20 minute recording previously with the same settings that had no issues. No other software was running in either case. So it seems to be an intermittent issue.
As a point of reference, I tried other audio applications and in all of them I have been able to record with a 64 sample buffer size with no clicks. Might be something between the RME driver and Audition?
And one more issue with the RME device and Audition. If I run Logic before opening Audition, files in Audition are then played at a lower pitch and slower speed than expected. Seems to be a mismatch in the expected sample rate for playback and what is actually used by the device. I say this because if I use the option in Audition "Interpret Sample Rate" and set it to 48khz, the file plays correctly in terms of how it sounds (speed/pitch). This is for a 44.1kHz file though. So it seems Audition thinks the RME device is operating at 48kHz, but it is actually playing at 44.1kHz.
Here's how to reproduce the problem.
1. Open Logic.
2. In Logic, play a file, and then stop playing the file.
3. Open Audition.
4. Close Logic. (or leave it open, it doesn't make a difference)
5. Play a 44.1kHz file in Audition. The file plays slower and at a lower pitch than expected.
And here's one way I found to fix the issue.
1. Close Logic
2. In Audition, go to Settings, Audio Hardware. Change the Default Output Device to Built-In Output
3. In the same drop-down, no set the Default Output back to the RME device
This seems to reset the device and its state with Audition. Files play back correctly then.
I'm only finding the above recording/playback issues with Audition, so maybe there are some issues to iron out in relation to RME drivers. I'm running the latest (as of this writing) driver available from RME. I had another audio device installed previously and didn't run into these issues with Audition.

You will need to provide more details as we cannot see your computer screen. Does this happen every time you launch LabVIEW? What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of Windows? Does LabVIEW crash? If so, what were you doing at the time it crashed?

Try using (⌘+C) and then (⌘+V). That action retains the event in the original, while also placing a duplicate in the new location.
If you want to remove the event from the original time, use (⌘+X), then (⌘+V) in the new time frame.

I create a birthday calendar in iCal and then click on it in iphoto at the begining of the calendar project each year. Some how the birthday did not populate the photo calendar. Is there a way to add the birthday iCal calendar into the calendar project?

If you first select the calendar on the left, so that its background is highlighted blue/grey, when you make a new events they should be added to that calendar.

Did you check the Zoom setting?
Have you tried a reset (reboot)? Hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears.
If it isn't Zoom and a reboot doesn't help try Settings/General/Reset - Reset all settings

Just installed Firefox 4. It hangs when I open any website and type in, for example, an ID, or even just click on something, for example, "Compose", in my webmail site.

Here's the detail of what happens.
1. Turn on computer and then click on Firefox icon on desktop.
2. Firefox opens. Everything looks OK. Mr Bunsen's graphic is working fine.
3. Click on any webpage link. For example, a newspaper or an online webmail page. All looks OK until
4. Click on anything or type anything, such as in ID in a box, and bingo, the top line of Firefox goes from dark blue to very pale blue and the computer is hung. You cannot get out of Firefox or get Firefox to work.
5. Switch off computer.
Is this perhaps due to a clash of Add-ons. I run Avast anti-virus. McAfee came with Firefox 4 and I did not reject it. Is it conflicting wth something in my system and causing it to hang?

Yes you certainly can.
Right click any desktop in the list > Settings > in the left pane select the desktop you want to auto connect to > check "Auto connect to this desktop".
