Firefox 10.0.2 crashes

Firefox 10.0.2 keeps crashing at random times, sometimes several times in one day. I'm never on the same website twice when it dies. I'm including the last 3 crash reports. I run Windows XP SP3, on a VAIO desktop.
I also usually run iTunes while Firefox is open. I do this on other computers as well, but this is the only one that FF is crashing on.

Hi stephil, <br>Presumably you read [[firefox crashes]] as you have included Crash IDs. I do not understand them and will have to leave that to someone else.
( It is [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/topcrasher/byversion/Firefox/10.0.2 currently] number 2 top crasher for firefox 10.0.2 behind the usual topcrash category empty signature, it could be one of those with multiple causes, but I am sure it is being investigated.)
Sorry I am unable to help.

Worth trying in [[safe mode]] and with all plugins disabled it could help. You could also find for instance it is related to certain websites or malware.

This is a fresh install on Windows 7 64 bit, first thing I did is install Firefox, but I can't even open it without it crashing. As soon as i click the open button it takes a few seconds and before I can even see the Firefox browser itself, a crash report pops open.

  • Firefox 3.6.10 crashes each time I try to open a PDF file? Any suggestions?

Each time I try to open a PDF file from any website, Firefox (3.6.10) crashes. No error messages--just closes abruptly. For add-ons, I've got Personas 1.6.1, United States English Dictionary 1.0.0, and WOT. I've got the Adobe Reader 9 and Foxit 3.3.1.0518. The crashes of Firefox occur with both PDF readers. I did go through the posted solutions for PFD related crashes in the FAQ section but those steps did not resolve the problem.

Does that only happen if you open the PDF files in the browser or also if you open the PDF files in the standalone program by disabling the plugin?

  • Firefox 3.6.8 crashes when accessing Add-on Manager and Google Toolbar (v 7.1.20100723W) is enabled

Well, as I said, Firefox 3.6.8 crashes when accessing Add-on Manager and Google Toolbar (v 7.1.20100723W) is enabled. This is on a 2010 white unibody macbook. I have a google toolbar, and all of a sudden, it keeps saying that it can't communicate with the toolbar. Now, I can't even uninstall it because whenever I go to the add on manager, it says there's an 'unresponsive script'. Could anyone help me? Thanks.

I fixed it by running in Safe Mode, and uninstalling Personas. Thanks again!

From your crash report, most of them have an OOM ( (NS_ABORT_OOM)) signature attached somewhere in it which means Firefox ran out of memory and crashed. The only exception is the report that has a signature of [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/3fdf2f42-026e-40f8-8c61-de6342140523 mozilla::WebGLTexture::DoDeferredImageInitialization(unsigned int, int)] Firefox crashes because it's out of memory seems odd because your System Memory Use Percentage doesn't seem to hit the high 90's like normal reports and hovers around 50-78%. Usually the percentage of RAM Firefox uses before it crashes is around 90-96%. Each case is different though. See the below article for some quick fixes for this.

  • Firefox Causes "BLUE SCREEN CRASH"

    Hello There.
To my utter dismay I am forced to use Chrome to access this forum. The reason is the moment I use Firefox (3) my computer crashes and I get the dreaded windows blue screen. I have been using ff for a long time now without problems. Yesterday I updated adobe flash player, but have now uninstalled flash player in the hope that the problem is resolved. No luck. I can use my computer in normal manner without problems, but the moment I use ff it crashes

I have this problem too, just installed Windows 7 Home Premium x64 two days ago. Yesterday I did a massive windows update and I believe the BSODs started after that. I've isolated it down to Firefox, partly because I had a similar problem with Vista x64 prior to the Win 7 upgrade and had removed Firefox from the machine completely w/o giving it too much thought.
Last night I found a way that 100% crashes windows within 5 mins, 5 times in a row, open firefox, open certain tabs and just wait. BSOD.
Note I also use Thunderbird but that doesn't seam to crash windows.
I found two separate threads on other forums suggesting this might have something to do with fonts. Not sure why Firefox is the only application suffering from it though. So from another thread following steps were suggested that are shown below, I haven't tried these. Another user on a different forum suggested running windows repair and through that somehow fixing the fonts. I'll report later if this issue helps solve the problem.
    1. this may seem random, but might be worth a shot... i think this problem
often occurs because of registry errors with the fonts... this solution fixes
that. if you browse to windows/fonts and immediately get a blue screen, then
    the fonts are your problem
    2. first try going to control panel > fonts >font settings (on left) > restore
    default fonts
    3. if you can't access fonts in the control panel then try this... in explorer go
here: \\%COMPUTERNAME%\C$\Windows\Fonts (replacing %computername% with your computername).
    4. then hit ctrl+a to select all the fonts.
    5. once they're all selected right click and select "install".
    6. when the dialogue box pops up saying that "[such and such] font is
already installed, would you like to reinstall it?" click the box for "do this for
all current items", and hit "yes"
    7. reboot (just for grins), and you should be good to go

  • Firefox 34 on Linux crashing constantly, with AMD GPU + Proprietary driver

Firefox 34 is constantly crashing, at random intervals. Sometimes the crash occurs as soon as the browser starts, sometimes it'll be fine for a couple of minutes, sometimes it's an hour.
I am using an AMD GPU with the proprietary driver on Linux.

  • Firefox 3.6.3 crashed, will not reload because it says it is running, and will not uninstall?

Firefox 3.6.3 crashed and would not reload as the system informed that firefox was already running. Rebooting had no effect. 3.6.4 was downloaded and installed. It would not run for the same reason. Windows XP was then upgraded to SP2. No change. 3.6.4 was uninstalled with no problem but 3.6.3 refuses to install. (When 'remove' is clicked, there is disc activity for about a second but then all stops.) No files have been deleted by me. There is no indication that I can see inspecting 'processes' or msconfig to indicate that Firefox is running.

Turning off "Enable Telemetry" and leaving Firefox Health and Crash Reporter enabled works just fine. This is solved the problem on two computers. On another computer, had to disable all 3 for it to work properly.

  • Every 5-20 minutes firefox stalls (not full crash)

Windows 7, 6.0.2, http://i.imgur.com/qBmF9.jpg shows addons installed. issue has existed 2-3 weeks now. Firefox "stalls" (not a crash, just blue-circle, screen goes white, not responding) for approx 20 seconds, every 5-20 minutes. Sometimes random, sometimes seems to be triggered by opening new tabs, especially many new tabs. Does not happen in chrome, haven't tried IE. I had upload ping issues with my router, fixed them, problem persists. I can switch to other programs during the stalls, only firefox slows down. Any help?
Sorry for the terse writing, I wrote this in the question box before realizing there was a details box I would be given later on.

Other information - Sound will still play, such as from youtube, up to the point where the buffer ended.

  • Firefox 3.6.3 crashes at start-up

Firefox 3.6.3 crashes at start-up. I'm very frustrated with Firefox. I've researched through out the forum posts and tried everything I've found about FF not starting. A previous version of FF was running OK then one day when I tried using FF again and it now crashes at start-up. It will not start period. If I didn't need FF for this one particular application then I would just use another browser. I've been looking for a solution for this problem for many many weeks. Someone please help.
    Computer is running Vista
Some days I think it would be less painful to beat my head against a brick wall then to deal with computers.
    please help if you can,
