Firefox 10.0.2 - Error Message - The connection was reset

Hello,
I'm trying to use firefox 10.0.2 on ESS EP7. The content or Homepage frame work is not being displayed. I am getting the message, "The connection was reset". If I click on Try Again, I get the same error. Does anyone have a suggestion for a fix.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

• Everytime I click on firefox I get an error message "The connection was resert, try again ????

Everytime I start firefox as my primary web browser, I get an error message that "The connection was reset" .... Please click on try again .... Then I click on try again and it works fine .....
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== when I first downloaded it

I have the same problem on a fresh install of 3.6.3 on Windows Vista. Once I changed my home page from the Firefox/google start page to my iGoogle page, it would not load on the first try and displayed "The connection was reset.
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." The page loaded properly when I pressed retry or the refresh icon.
The same error message shows when I click on a link from an e-mail in Outlook.
One thing that helped was I put https at the beginning of my homepage, instead of http, and it now loads on the first time.

• Whenever I use a search engine, I keep getting the error message "The connection was reset while the page was loading".

I am able to access the internet, but none of the search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing will work. the page will not load. I get the error message:
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

If so you may have fallen prey to the BBC's Content Distribution Network which often seems to produce problems they keep re-issuing advice such as:

• Why do I get the error message saying "connection was reset"?

I get this message every once in a while. I have to restart my computer to fix this issue, temporarily.
I says "'''The connection was reset'' The connection to the server was reset while page was loading.
I have no know ISP issues.

Usually that is a sign that there is a problem with Firefox's cache. Here are some instructions for [[Error loading web sites#w_the-problem-only-happens-with-certain-websites|clearing Firefox's cookies and cache]].

• I receive a "Problem Loading Page" message, "The Connection Was Reset." I've tried all your tip.

I receive the "connection was reset" message on 90% of my attempts to visit websites. All sites are bookmarked and safe. I printed out all help information and tried the forum. I am using Windows 8.1. Some of the help instructions seem to be for XP or another OS. The directions do not have certain locations in the help instructions on Win. 8.
I really have enjoyed Firefox over Internet Explorer but it is really frustrating to have this happening all the time.
Thanks for any help!

You can check the connection settings.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

• ITunes Store Error Message: "network connection was reset"

I've been having trouble connecting to the iTunes Store since Dec. 25, 2006. The last time I was able to connect to the site was Jan. 2, 2007!
The error message that I have been receiving is: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection was reset."
Here are the troubleshooting issues that I have already performed.
1) Ensured that my internet connection was active.
2) Checked to make sure Windows XP Service Pack Updates were compatible. No problems with the firewall detected.
3) Have the latest version (7.02.16) of iTunes.
4) iPod software is up to date.
5) Ran iTunes diagnostics which states:
Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is enabled in Windows Firewall.
Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
The network connection was reset.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection was reset.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Does anyone have this problem? Can anyone recommend a solution that worked for them?
Sony Windows XP

PS: I also went into Internet Explorer...
Selected Tools, selected Internet options, then selected Advanced Tab
Then I looked for the security section and made sure that SSL 2.0 was selected.
I was still unable to access iTunes Store.

• As of approximately 1 1/2 weeks ago I can no longer login to iGoogle or GMail-get a message "The connection was reset". I can access the actual iGoogle page pre-login and all other websites and can login with IE8. Tried the suggestions listed in Help.

Firefox 5/running Windows 7 Professional SP1/ on a Dell/Core 2 Duo 64 bit
It worked when I initially got the machine, it works in IE8 and on my other computer in the same office/same network running XP Professional SP3 and Firefox 3.6.18

Apparently, there was something corrupt in my Profile. I backed up my default profile, created a new one and copied over the critical folders and files - the addons; backedup bookmarks, places.sqlite; password info in key3.db and signons.sqlite.
Issue resolved.

• I cannot log in to my Kohls account "The connection was reset"

When I go to the Kohls website and click on the 'my account' tab and when I click on 'sign in' it goes to another tab and then gives me the message "The connection was reset" and

moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

I can log in the same account from the desktop but not the Laptop.
