Firefox 11 segmentation fault
Hello,
I just wanted to have a look at the newest linux action show but when clicking on the newest episode "Linux Games" firefox crashes with just the message
segmentation fault
in the console output. I have tried a "vanilla" firefox (renaming ~/.mozilla) but same result.
Any ideas?
Greetings
matse

That was it! Uninstalled flash and the site loads fine.
It's strange that flash works on youtube but this site crashes firefox.
So I guess I have to downgrade flash, wait for a fix or just watch the episode directly on youtube?
Greetings

I have been using Firefox since I first got Arch, and after a month or two, it started randomly crashing. I figured it would go away, and things would be fine. But is continued, to the point that I only opened Firefox in the terminal. And when it finally crashed while opened in the terminl, it gave me this error:

Is this anything I can fix, or is it just Firefox?skottish wrote:It's probably your theme or some Firefox extension that you have loaded. The first thing that I would do is change the theme and see if you can reproduce the crash. If you can, try turning off your extensions one by one until you figure out if that's the reason and which one is causing it.
I did change the theme, and I will wait to see if it will crash again. And if it does, I will start with all my extensions. Probably staring with the weirdest of them, that are more probable to cause problems. -
32 bit Firefox Segmentation fault on 64 bit host
Hi,
I'm running CentOS 5.2 x86_64 (64 bit). I've done may
installs and got flash working using a 32bit firefox.
This is a newly installed host and I have a 32 bit firefox
installed yet flash 10 always causes a segmentation fault when I
access a web page that has flash content.
strace on firefox shows:
write(2, "/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.4/run-mozil"...,
97/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.4/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 6278
Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
I can't see the problem. As I said previously, I've had
firefox and flash (32bit) working perfectly happliy on 64 bit
before but it is now broken.
Any with any clues?
Thanks in advance.Pl post details of exact OS, database and client versions.
Yes, you can install 32-bit client software, as long as you use a separate ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_HOME to do so.

Upgraded to Ubuntu lucid lynx 64bit platform, Firefox will no longer start, even in terminal safe mode - terminal reports Attempting to load the system libmoon Segmentation fault. Thunderbird works fine. Un-installed/re-installed to no success.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.342.9 Safari/533.2I completely uninstalled everything associated with firefox in synaptic package manager, then reinstalled the latest version of firefox again.
Evidently one of the add-ons was preventing firefox from opening, not sure which one though. I hope this will help someone else. Firefox is working now. -

Hi all I need some support with my firefox's crash reports, I experienced several crashes caused by segmentation faults in the last days..
I tried to disable the plugins and extensions without success, here are the submitted ids with the environment specifications and the stacktrace..

fusillatorThis is mozilla firefox from xubuntu repository, here's the details:
firefox 35.0.1+build amd64
I tried to reinstall the package, remove the extension xul-ext-webaccounts, and create a new profile without success.
I don't know if the previous segmentation faults may be related to the recent flash security bugs CVE-2015-0313..
Anyway I checked the plugin and updated the shockwave flash plugin from 11.2.202.440 to 11.2.202.442
Now I experienced a crash of the shockwave flash plugin again, but it lets the browser and os responsive.
Here are the kernel report by dmesg:
[ 1346.694353] plugin-containe[2403]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f4c2143a5fa sp 00007fffa6363a50 error 4 in libxul.so[7f4c2067b000+3d09000]

and here's the new firefox crash id:
bp-eb912267-97f5-498d-b642-330602150206
I don't know if disabling hardware accelaration from the adobe player could be effective.. Anyway I can't follow the guide at https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues becouse the right click context menu "Settings" of the flash player appears not clickable (disabled)
Anyway I'll turn off the hardware accelaration option from the browser.
Unfortunatly I haven't tested the 32 bit version from mozilla repo yet.
Thanks for your fast reply.
Regards

I dont know witch pages I was looking at when midori chrashed.
I found this, but I'm not sure if I have the same problem. Are this three are all the same problem, and if so, is it something with flash? Are you using KDE? Did you just did an upgrade of KDE?
I had a similar problem and it seems to be related to ~/.kde4 where it seems settings do not get updated. I even have a thread about the Pager Settings not updating.
Anyway ... if this is your case deleting ~/.kde4 and logging out and in again solved the problem for me, for both: Chromium and Firefox. Of course you loose your personal settings but it's faster to re-set your settings than it is to find what file is failing to update in ~/.kde4
Hope this helps.

Conduit crashes with segmentation fault
I just installed a fresh install of Arch Linux with xfce installed. Everything is up and running. I wanted conduit to synchronize evolution data with my desktop. I was using Xubuntu and everything was fine. But Arch is 2x faster than xubuntu...
The compilation of conduit went right, reported no error.
I run XFCE but I tried to run it from gnome also just if it was an dependency error... Didn't work. I tried to install firefox from sources since it was an run-mozilla.sh segmentation error. Didn't work.
Here's my rc.conf

I tried to enable webkit instead of gtkmozembed but I can't see how. I really want to use conduit to sync Evolution suite between desktop/laptop
Any help?
Desesperate new arch user.I've rebuilt conduit with webkit and GIO support by patching the file defs.py.in in the source directory, however the segfault still occurs on my machine. The only difference is that the run-mozilla.sh error is not given but instead a blank line. Perhaps this is related to a specific plugin not working correctly.
edit: this is also occuring with conduit 0.3.14 release. I may try the SVN version later today.

Limitation on number of roles in oracle menu or segmentation fault in menu
Hi All,
Is there any limitation on the number of roles we can have in oracle menu? We are having around 300 roles created in our menu and after that if we try to add new role we are not able to compile the menu file. In the windows the form builder closes abruptly and in Linux it gives us segmentation fault error. Did anyone face the problem? Also if there is any solution then please provide the same.
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
AshishI just wonder how many forms do you have that you needed to create 300 roles. We normally create a role for one set of users. It means you've 300 different set of users for your application !!.

Segment fault (Core dump)
Hi
when i run the following Pro*c file in Unix Environment im getting the SEGMENTATION FAULT(CORE DUMP) error. I used DBX to debug the code. I couldnt find out the proper reason for this error form the dbx output.
This is the output i got from DBX.
*signal SEGV (no mapping at the fault address) in _doprnt at 0xfb98736c*

I did the showmemuse and show leaks, the output for this commands :

To be precise:

- issue

(dbx) run
and wait for dbx to stop and report suspicious memory access. -

HT1338 Macbook pro mac os 10.6.8 software update segment fault
I recently tried to update a few software on my macbook pro, but apparently software update crashed while it ran in the process.
So I cannot update any softwares since it won't work at all. I even tried to run softwareupdate on command line and it gave me
"segement fault". Any idea how to fix this problem?

Svrmgrl segmentation fault!
Hi everyone.
I installed Oracle 8.0.5.1 Enterprise Edition on a RedHat 6.0 box
with 2 Pentium III processors. The installation went smoothly but
when I ran the svrmgrl the familiar message "segmentation fault
(core dumped)" appears. The funny thing is that I have installed
the same product on a SuSE 6.1 with a Pentium II 233Mhz and it
runs OK.
Any suggestions?

problem with the re-linking.
