FireFox 12 Crashes Repeatedly In Windows 7

Since installing Firefox 12 on my HP laptop with 64 bit Win 7 it crashes often. This did not happen with any FireFox version prior to version 12.

I found reports on the web where this utility was run on a 64 bit Windows 7 PC. The PC was then not able to connect to the web. I will not run this utility on my W7 64 bit laptop! There has to be another way to attack this problem. This bugs me as up until now FireFox has been my primary browser. I could reload version which works fine and just use it.

  • When in the middle of doing work Firefox just crashes, A sorry window pups up asking if user wants to Reload the same session or start a new session. This never happen with previous versions.

Since I updated Firefox to the latest version it crashes a lot and although I can reload the session I was working with it is annoying and time consuming. I always keep my computer 100% updated and virus free as I always run Norton. I also have 4 G of RAM and 500 G disk drive so it is not lack of RAM and never keep more that 3 windows open at the same time.

    (1) Firefox's built-in post-crash page has not been a real HTML page for a long time (for example, from the time of Firefox 22, see: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/968212 Want to save LOTS of versions of "Restore Session.xht" from the "oops ..." page for later use]). If you had this working differently with Firefox 25, that might have been created by an extension.
You can check to see whether extensions are disabled or need an update on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. The disabled extensions cluster toward the bottom of the list. To poll for updates, use the "gear" button above the list and choose Check for Updates.
If you used the Reset feature (or Firefox automatically did a reset due to some problem during upgrading), you will need to reinstall missing extensions. The reset feature creates a folder on the desktop named Old Firefox Data. Do you have that folder? There may be data you can recover from it.
    (2) There are many ways for history to get cleared, both internal to Firefox and external. Could you double-check your Privacy settings?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
    * The "Firefox will" drop-down says Remember History: Firefox shouldn't be clearing history, but an add-on or external software could do it
    * The "Firefox will" drop-down says Use custom settings for history: inspect the "Clear history when Firefox closes" setting to make Firefox isn't set to clear history. Also check your add-ons and consider external software.
Firefox normally accumulates months of history. However, some of Firefox's database sizes are based on disk space available. If your hard drive is very full, Firefox might reduce the amount of history stored.

  • Firefox is crashing repeatedly upon opening. There are a 3 different signature reasons, but this is the most common: Signature: memmove | nsCacheMetaData::SetElement(char const*, char const*)

This started yesterday afternoon, where Firefox crashes immediately upon opening. I do have a lot of tabs that open upon start (this is done with the "Morning Coffee" add-on), but this has never been a problem before. This morning, I had 5 separate crashes, all in a row:
Signature: memmove | nsCacheMetaData::SetElement(char const*, char const*)
    Signature: PR_EnterMonitor
    Signature: _PR_MD_PR_POLL
Signature: memmove | nsCacheMetaData::SetElement(char const*, char const*)
Signature: memmove | nsCacheMetaData::SetElement(char const*, char const*)
However, I WAS able to open up Firefox and get it to run without crashing when I did so with no tabs automatically opening.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks !!!!

  • TFncKy.exe crashing repeatedly in Windows XP

    Hi all,
I've been having a problem with the program TFncKy.exe since I bought my new Satellite M100 about a month or two ago. When I log onto Windows this program crashes before I press a key, and regardless of whether I choose "Send Report" or "Don't send report" it repeatedly crashes every minute or so.
This problem only seems to have effected one of the user accounts on the computer, the other is working fine.
Any ideas on how I can stop this happening? Would a reinstall of TFncKy.exe help? If so, how would I do this?

I would also recommend checking the user rights.
Of course the reinstallation could also help. During the installation procedure the setup will ask you if you want to allow this application for all user on this notebook. You have to press yes
    Good luck

  • Firefox 5 Crashes Repeatedly in Mac OS X Lion

I have been using Firefox 5 on the Mac OS X Lion developer preview for a few days now, and Firefox crashes over and over again.
If I have more than 2 tabs open, Firefox can't last more than 20 minutes without crashing. I have submitted multiple crash reports.

    Hi John99,
Thanks for TRYING to help, but you're not really helping by telling us to try a version of Firefox that is 2 down from the current (and SHOULD be stable). This support board is supposed to help the developers to fix the bug and release a NEWER (not 3.6.X) version of the browser.
I am also running Lion GM with Firefox 5 and I do have the same problem as reported initially. Apple fixed/broke something in Lion that caused this problem. Mozilla needs to figure out what that is and fix their software.
That is all. '''Please escalate this bug because Lion will be out in a week or two.'''
    Thank you!

    * It could be helpful if there is a diagnostic program/add-on which control all
    installed add-ons.
    * It could even be helpful If I can type/write more as 1500 characters in a
message, because I have to tell my story (Mozilla problems) and I want to
place the output of the 'terminal' (Sessionstore) in the same message.
    * It even shall be helpful if there is a list (like in the early days of the Windows-
browser), where I can find the description and/or the solution of the Firefox- errors. My terminal give me p.e. this output : (firefox:10353): Gtk-CRITICAL
    **: IA__gtk_clipboard_set_with_data: assertion `targets != NULL' failed;
Firefox: 10353 says me nothing, so..... there are errors enough, but the
crashes don't come from the browser. I have taken all steps, my last is to
    re-install FF24 about:blank, vdpau.... e.s.o
    * If I place a message here I can only put a picture-file, not a text or Gedit-file.

Alright, well what I recommend doing is a fresh install of Firefox.

#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from [https://www.mozilla.org mozilla.org] (or choose the download for your operating system and language from [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ this page]) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click the close button [[Image:Close 29]]).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

  • Firefox 15 crashing when started from Command line in Windows 15

I have been loading my work space via a batch file everyday for the past 4 years.
One of the apps I start is Firefox using the following command:<br />
    @start /D"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\" firefox.exe
My batch file would run, and close with no issue.
As of Firefox 15, using the same command now ties Firefox to the console.
When I close the console, Firefox closes, when I open it again from the standard shortcut, I get the "Firefox has crashed"
I also notice that since upgrading to Firefox 15, some console.log calls go to the Windows Console while firefox is loading. Most notably is HTTPSEverywhere.
When I rolled back to Firefox 14, the issue disappeared

    Hi,
I'm really sorry to have caused this regression.
Thanks for reporting this issue, I've done various tests before submitting my patch but I totally missed that issue...
It is now matter of getting my fix reviewed and landed, but in the meantime, I tried to craft an addon that would hopefully fix your issues.

  • Firefox gui element capture plug in keeps causing Firefox to crash and it won't open certain windows. Any idea why?

I disabled extensions per Firefox instructions and discovered that 'firefox gui element capture plug in 1.0' is the one causing my problems. Problems being Firefox either crashes or refuses to open an additional window, and then crashes.

If I am in another program and hover over the firefox using the taskbar, moving the cursor over the various open windows is okay until moving to the left usually. Crashes up sometimes up to 10 times or so in a couple of hours. I use gmail and it is open at all times. I've turned off many of my plugins. I am a web designer and am on firefox most of the time - all day long. I started writing this without a crash id number so will not provide one now. Can send later when it crashes again.

  • Firefox 5 not compatible with windows 7 apparently!! Need to downgrade to previous version. Computer crashes using ff but nothing else.

Microsoft's site says firefox 3 is compatible with windows 7. however, i've upgraded to firefox 5 and now system crashes to the blue screen.

I have a laptop running Firefox 5.0 on Windows 7 and don't have problem with it.
What I suggest you do in the first instance is to start Windows 7 using the '''Last Known Good Configuration''' which will load the operating system the last time it worked properly, instructions here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Using-Last-Known-Good-Configuration
    Then do the following.<br><br>
#Use Internet Explorer to download Firefox from here: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 5.0.1] and choose "'''Save'''" when you see the prompt and save it to your desktop. ''Do not choose "Run"''.<br><br>
#Next, uninstall the version you have at the moment via "Programs and Features" in Control Panel choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
    #Next, reboot.<br><br>
#When the system boots to the desktop, delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\ <br><br>
#Run the installation file you downloaded earlier.<br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br><br>
I don't know if your bookmarks can be retrieved or not, but the following procedure can be used to make a backup should they still be available.<br><br>
    #Press CTRL+SHIFT+B to open the Bookmarks manager.<br><br>
#Click the link to '''Import and Backup '''and then click '''Export HTML '''and save the file somewhere.
You can use the same Bookmarks Manager to import the file you saved by choosing "Import HTML" should that prove to be necessary.
