Firefox 12 keeps starting in full-screen mode.

Ever since upgrading to Firefox 12, it wants to start up in full screen mode. I dopn't mean the extreme full screen mode where even the menu bar is hidden. I mean the more "typical" full screen mode where it just gets as large as possible but has the same content. I tried forcing a new profile (by renaming. ~/.mozilla/firefox) and that fixed it. But then as soon as I brought back the bookmarks toolbar and exited, it was back to starting in full screen mode again. I wish there was something in preferences for this. I NEVER want it to start in full screen mode. This is Ubuntu 11.10.

Thanks for your reply.
It does not maximize (I think that's the term I should have used) when starting in safe mode. But I think the reason is that it has a smaller window when it starts in safe mode. If I increase the size of the window beyond a certain point, then when I exit and restart FF, it auto-maximizes. If I delete localstore.rdf, again it comes up not auto-maximized. But again, if I make the window a little bigger, exit and restart, then it does come up auto-maximized. And if I make it smaller before exiting, it will come up properly. I really believe this is a Ubuntu/Unity problem. Unity has a very irritating tendency to maximize windows all on its own. When I upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04, I'm hoping there will be an easy way to tell it not to do this.

  • Firefox 14.0.1 Won't Start in Full Screen Mode

    Firefox 14.0.1 for Mac doesn't appear to retain the full screen mode setting on shut down. It starts in "non-full screen" mode on start.
    I've tried safe mode startup, set to full and shut down, but it still doesn't keep the setting.
    Help appreciated

    This appears to be a bug in the new Mac full screen feature - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=758249
    So there doesn't appear to be a way to fix this at the moment other than waiting for this to get fixed in a future release.

  • FF 19.0 keeps switching to full-screen mode

    This is most annoying! I'll be happily working away when suddenly all my toolbars disappear. At first I had no idea what was going on, and would have to close and reopen FF to get them back, then I discovered that the browser was just switching arbitrarily into full screen mode. I've looked to see if maybe there is something in an inconvenient place that I'm accidentally clicking on to cause this, but no. It just happens for no reason. Is there a fix for this?

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • How to start in Full Screen mode

    Hi. How can I make my flash site load in Full Screen mode by
    default (using Actionscript 3 in Flash CS4)?
    Thanks

    The security features of Flash Player are specifically
    configured to
    keep this from happening. The idea is to avoid someone being
    able to trick
    the end user into thinking s/he is using a fullscreen app, or
    something
    other than Flash. Note, for example, that unless you're
    developing for AIR,
    full screen mode disables keyboard input:

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 5, each time I launch Firefox it opens in full screen mode. Is there a way to change this in preferences?

    I prefer the browser window to remain the same size I left it at when I quit Firefox. It starts to load at the same size, then jumps to full screen.
    It has also crashed a few times & I had to force quit twice.
    Please let me know if there are fixes for these issues.

    c uses the same profile folder as the Windows and Linux platform.
    You can locate the Firefox Profile Folder via
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    Copy and Paste this code in the Code field in the <i>"Tools > Error Console"</i> and click the <i>Evaluate</i> button to see the location of the profile folder.

  • How to automatically open a webpage chrome, firefox... in full screen mode

    I am programming labview to open some webpages and then record the activities of the mouse and keyboard.  To make sure that it always start at the same size by full screen it.  I use system exe vi and able to open the webpages, but i don't know how to full screen automatically.  If you know how, please let me know.  Thank you.

    There's certainly no standard full-screen command in Windows, because there's no such concept. That's something that each program decides for itself. You could try seeing if the different browsers can process command line switches to open at full screen or whether they have some addons (like GreaseMonkey) which will allow you to automatically run the full-screen command when the browser loads.
    Some other alternatives:
    Simulate an F11 key press.
    Send the F11 window message to the browser.
    Display the browser in an ActiveX or .NET control on a front panel, the size of which you can control.
    Try to take over the world!

  • Mission control animates in the wrong direction when you start in full screen mode

    When I am in fullscreen mode, open mission control, and swipe left to right the animation moves in the wrong direction. The correct space appears, but it animates as if I swiped right to left. All subsequent swipes work correctly until I close mission control and follow the same steps again.
    Whats going on?

    Go into system prefs trackpad then uncheck scroll direction.

  • How do I set Firefox to start on login in full screen mode and permanently disable the tool bars?

    I am trying to set up a touch screen windows 7 lenovo desktop for use by older users with no prior experiance of PC's. I would like Firefox to start on login and open in full screen mode, with all toolbars disabled. Is this possible? and if so how do I go about doing this?

    If you close Firefox 4 while in full screen mode then the browser should start in full screen mode the next time. That setting is stored in localstore.rdf in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].
    If you want to prevent toolbars from opening if you hover to the top then hide the full-screen-toggler with code in userChrome.css

  • How do i get firefox to not be in full screen mode without a mouse or keyboard?

    for some reason Firefox switched to full screen mode and i can't get out of it. I'm using Firefox on a tablet PC running windows 8.1 so using F11 or a mouse is not an option. at least i assume it's full screen mode. i can't see my bookmarks bar, my address bar, or even the windows task menu at the bottom of the screen, where my virtual keyboard is located at. i can get to the settings menu (i have Firefox set to start on a new page) but i can't find bookmark bar, address bar, or full screen settings there. I tried using IE11 to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it but it kept the setting. A "turn off full screen mode" button in the settings would be super helpful or a "force show address bar" button.

    By the way, if Firefox is ''stuck'' in full screen mode, I think you could clear that by removing the settings file which stores window dimensions. Here's how:
    Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
    In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
    ''If none of those is available: Use the Run command (or maybe the charms bar search box), type or paste the following and tap Run/Search or Enter on the virtual keyboard:''
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
    ''Then double-tap into your most recently updated semi-randomly-named profile folder.''
    Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
    * (menu bar) File > Exit
    ''If neither of those is available, try using one of the standard Windows ways of exiting a program.''
    Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''xulstore.json''' to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename that one to localstore.old.
    Start Firefox back up again. Do windows display normally again?

  • How do i open firefox browser in full screen mode all time on Ubuntu

    I am using Ubuntu OS. I want firefox to open in full screen mode when ever i open it. I don't want to press F11 every time. When ever i open it should automatically go to full screen mode. How can i achieve it?

    This setting is stored in the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf
    You you can check this file to see if sizemode="fullscreen" appears under the browser.xul#main-window heading.
    If have this section when the normal dimensions are 1024x720.
    <pre><nowiki><RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#main-window"
    height="720"
    width="1024"
    screenX="323"

    sizemode="fullscreen" /></nowiki></pre>

  • Make firefox stop going into full screen

    I upgraded to Firefox 10 on my macbook pro snow leopard and now the browser keeps going into full screen mode automatically. If I toggle it off, it just goes back to full screen in a few seconds.
    I have re-sized the screen and it still does it.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Full screen mode

    I would like to run firefox 31.0 in full screen mode. Getting into full screen is no problem. How do you get out of it without using the keyboard shortcut? I understand you can put the icon on the toolbar OR the add-on bar, but i would prefer it in both locations. Is this possible? I really prefer to have it at the bottom of the page on the add on bar, but then it won't show when you want to exit.
    I don't suppose it would be possible to customize the right click menu.... that would be the ultimate in customizing.

    If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
    Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.

  • Full screen mode not working for original user

    Hi,
    Whenever I go to start a full-screen mode in iTunes, iCal, Mail, etc. the program makes the default error sound and doesn't enter full screen. This appears in the console, but I'm not sure how to diagnose it:
    21/07/11 9:11:18.253 PM Mail: ___createFullScreenMessageConnection_block_invoke_1: Fullscreen message error: Connection invalid
    Furthermore, apps like Mail and Safari get interface glitches, which require a restart of the program to fix.
    However, the programs work fine in full screen on other user accounts, but I don't want to have to start a new one and move ~400GB of data between them. Is there any way of fixing this? I've also tried reseting permissions.

    Resetting my user preferences hasn't helped either.

  • Expoting Versions in Full-Screen Mode

    I have been using Aperture 3 and I'm becoming very pleased with the work flow and it seems to get better every day. It still seems odd though that every time I "Export Version" it goes out of Full-Screen Mode. I don't see any way to change that, but because I export every file after conversion, it really adds up extra clicks. If someone knows of a trick to keep it in full-screen mode, please let me know. Thanks.

    If you ever find out how, please post the solution here.
