Firefox 12 won't open tabs; just new windows. What's up?

I just updated to the latest version FF 12. After the update I can't open tabs anymore. There isn't even a button to open a new tab. The "Open link in New Tab ..." command opens the link in a new window instead.
It doesn't seem like a configuration problem. I was just wondering if a patch or fix update will be coming out soon?
In the meantime I have to use Chrome as a backup, and it's kind of a drag. :(

Sorry, that's the first thing I tried. I checked all the options in the tools panel that could have an effect on tabs. Nothing fixed it.
It's a bug in the new update. They did something or forget to put something back in the latest build that was there before.
Tabs are broken.
Could someone post a download link to version 11. I'd like to uninstall and revert to the previous version. Because this one isn't ready yet.

Since the 4.0.1 update the first Firefox window I open refuses to open tabs, only new windows, and all refuse to show my bookmarks toolbar. All Sync settings and account seem lost.

Every version of firefox 6 won't open, I just get that crash report. Every time this has happened I reinstall firefox 5 which works fine. Anybody out there have a similar problem, any help would be appreciated

I had this issue. I went to c:\program files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
I renamed my plugins folder to plugins.old.
It recreated the Plugins folder and all was good again. I have since reinstalled the plugins I've been prompted to install.

If it is the third party apps crashing - try downloading another app - any free app is fine. See if that resets the other apps.

Hyperlink on a trigger won't open in a new window

I have set up a roll over trigger that reveals a target and it works great. The only issue is that the hyperlink I have assigned to the trigger will only work if I uncheck the "open in a new window or tab" box. If I check that box, nothing happens when I click the trigger, yet it's original function of revealing the target still works.

Firefox opening tabs in new window

Whenever I "open in new tab" Firefox will open said tab in a new window instead of the current one. If I repeat this four times with the same link in one window, I will have four tabs in one new, separate window. I'd rather have those four tabs in the original window.
I do have the "open new windows in a new tab instead" option selected.
Probably just a setting I have flipped to the wrong position, but any help would be appreciated.

This could be due to the way Firefox 4 handles windows popped up by a script in a web page. In some cases, Firefox judges the window to be a "dialog" and diverts all new tabs to a different window.
When you encounter this can you do the following test: Copy the URL of the "problem" window, open a new normal window (e.g., Ctrl+n), paste the URL into the location bar, and press Enter. Then try right-click > Open Link in New Tab in that window. Does it work normally there?

If not, it must be something else.

Firefox 4 was set on "Open new windows in a new tab instead." I unclicked that to test opening in a new window. Decided to go back to the tab option, clicked on it but it does not engage and Firefox 4 continues to open in a new window. Is this a glitch?

I did try rebooting, no go. If anyone knows a way to get that option working, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same problem, but was able to fix it somewhat.
# Open the about:config page.
# Set the ''browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction'' setting to 0 (= zero).
On my machine this will open new windows in a new tab. However, it switches to the new tab regardless of the setting ''"When I open a link in new tab, switch to it immediatly"''.

Google search results won't open in a new window

I like to have Google search results open in a new tab and, until recently, using Google's settings allowed me to do that. But now if I click a lik in search results, it opens the page in the same window. In other words, FF "refuses" to obey Google's preferences.

Firefox should divert the new window to a new tab when you check this box in Google's Search Settings:
"Open search results in a new browser window"
I can't think of any reason for Firefox to divert a new window back into ''the same tab''.
In case one of your add-ons is the culprit, could you try Firefox's Safe Mode?
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox using Help>Restart with Add-ons Disabled. Don't check any of the boxes in the [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] dialog, just Continue in Safe Mode.
Does it make any difference?

LR5.3 64bit won't open on my new Windows 8.2 machine

To cut a long story short I have just installed LR5 on my new PC and it won't open. PS and Bridge open just fine.
All that happens is the same thing as the picture at the top of this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/5410681
It looks like a registration screen but I can't maximise it.
So far none of the suggestions from support have helped. This has included re-installing LR, setting up a new Windows profile, using the Adobe cleaner tool, and a few other things.
FYI - there is only one monitor attached to my PC.
Any ideas?

I bought my MacBook Pro (in June 2011) with OS Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.7) and used my Iomega StoreCenter as NAS for may data and timemachine. All ok. Last year I added the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 to my network for data files and all worked ok.
I have now upgraded my Mac with OS 10.8.2 and now my problem starts. Time machine is not working neither with my "old" StoreCenter nor with the ix2-200. The Iomega non protected diskfiles show up in the finder and I can connect as guest and use them. However when I want to use Timemachine I got the same above uerror message as dongiulio (German text, because I am using a German system).
Is there any possibility to get TM running ? What did they recommend to you ?

Magic Trackpad issues with opening tabs into new windows.

I used to be able to double tap and drag a tab out of the row of tabs in Chrome and put it into it's own windows. Now the double tap and drag doesn't work. I have to depress the trackpad with my thumb while tapping on the tab and then drag it into a new window. Tried unchecking and rechecking all the boxes in Trackpad preferences, but that didn't work. Anybody have any other thoughts? Could upgrade to 10.8.4 have done this or something? (Running Mountain Lion on iMac mid 2010).

I think I just found the answer although how that changed I have no idea. Under System Preferences/Accessability/Trackpad Options, I had to enable dragging. Hope that helps someone if it ever happens to them.

My firefox stuck on safe mode. Help istructions didn't help. Can't open links by clicking them. Only copy/pastethe hyperlink. Can't click open the messages in my mailbox. Firefox is refusing to "open in a new window." -only in a new tab.

Hi tlaclair, when I click that link, here is what I see (observed using the Fiddler2 program, which intercepts web traffic between your browser and websites):
(1) The server at link.p0.com sets 1 cookie and redirects to http://t.mookie1.com/t/v1/event?migClientId=181&migAction=email-click&migSource=mig&migDest=http%3a%2f%2forder.dominos.com
(2) Firefox follows the redirect and the server at t.mookie1.com sets 3 cookies and redirects to http://order.dominos.com
(3) Firefox follows the redirect and the server at order.dominos.com redirects to a secure session ([https://order.dominos.com/])
These kinds of redirects are completely standard; if you set Firefox to warn you about redirects, then a bar usually appear below the address where you can click an Allow button to continue. You can check whether you have this feature turned on here:

If Firefox isn't blocking the redirect, it's possible that one of your add-ons is doing it. A standard diagnostic for interference by add-ons is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.

Double-click won't open photo in new window

so double clicking a photo in my library used to open it in a separate window where i could have a closer look or edit the photo, only, now, when i double-click a photo, the separate window opens, flashes the photo for a millisecond and then appears and remains blank. anyone had this issue before? know how to fix it? happy days!

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
