Firefox 13 Right Click Search - Stay On Page After Searching Like Previous Versions

Hi,
When I highlight and right click a word on a page then click "Search Google for" the result opens in a new tab - as expected. But in firefox 13 it immediately switches to the new google search tab created.
In previous firefox versions it would stay on the current page and leave the new google search tab in the background ready to be opened when I'm ready.
I would like to know how to change this feature in v13 back to the way it was in previous versions, as described above.
Thanks.

Wow that was quick, solution worked perfectly too!
Thanks for your help, madperson.

  • How can I prevent firefox from displaying an overall black page after I request a topic search in the google/firefox search box? Not able to see results

I loaded Mozilla v31 on my PC laptop which uses Windows XP operating system with all current updates. When I click on my internet icon, it leads me to the Mozilla page with a Google search bar. Once I type a topic in and click for the search to begin, the Firefox page turns all black and I am not able to see any results or action being taken. I click on the back arrow and enter a new topic, and click on search button, it repeats the same behavior and the Firefox page turns black. Essentially Mozilla Firefox is not a usable browser unless I can fix it. Help!

When this happens, has the address bar changed to a google.com address or is it still blank?
Some graphical glitches are caused by an incompatibility between Firefox and your graphics card drivers. The standard workaround for bypassing this is to disable Firefox from using hardware acceleration. You can make that change here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
That will take effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again.
    More generally:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

The arrow to open the tab history of the Back and Forward buttons has been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
Use one of these methods to open the tab history list:
    * Right click on the Back or Forward button
    * Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens
You can look at this extension:

  • Since upgrading to 3.6.13, i can no longer open tabs using the extension, only by right clicking on the open page, and then not always. I've had to go to Chrome as i can't get firefox to work.

Firefox worked great. I have been using it for years. When i completed the recent update to 3.6.13, the new tab button/extension little + box quit working. I can click and nothing happens. I right click, get the drop down menu but nothing works. I cannot open a blank tab or windwo as when i want to go somewhere new without closing windows i have open. The only way i can access a new tab is if i go to my bookmarks and open one then use that screen to go where i wanted to go. I've had to switch to Google Chrome to complete tasks i need done online, but it doesn't let me do a lot of what i want to.

I'll try to make this clear. I USED to be able to left click on a hyper link and the hyper link would open in a NEW tab. Now for some unknown reason the hyper link by default opens in the same tab (window). I have to right click the hyper link in order for it to open in a NEW tab. (Yes, my 'tools'> 'options'> 'tabs' are set to "open new windows in a new tab." (Please no answers telling me to get rid of the Ask toolbar because I don't have one.) Thank you.

  • OK 4 a week. Now Firefox hangs when setting a bookmark from dropdown only. Bookmarks OK if I right click empty part of page. New WIN 7 64-bit PC. 16GBram Fix?

I have not tried resetting Firefox 31.0 as I do not want to lose any of the thousands of bookmarks. It also hangs forever whenever I try to go to the bookmarks drop down just to go to a bookmark or even "Show all bookmarks" to create an exported .html file to back them up in case I lose them. When I do a complete and proper uninstall of Firefox 31.0, I am never asked to keep the personal files and settings as I had been in the past with previous versions of Firefox. I downloaded the latest freshest copy of the install file from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-stub&os=win&lang=en-US and installed it again and all the defaults and bookmarks came up just as before my uninstall. The problem still persists IE 11 and the latest Google Chrome installed on this same PC do not have this issue. What could have caused this and how do I fix it on a brand new PVC that all these browsers were working fine on for over a week until two days ago I started experiencing this with Firefox 31.0?

''''' "When I do a complete and proper uninstall of Firefox 31.0, I am never asked to keep the personal files and settings as I had been in the past with previous versions of Firefox." '''''
That option upon uninstalling Firefox was to '''"Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations"''' - not to "keep" it. Regardless, that feature was removed from Firefox recently.

  • Right click goes back one page

Anytime I right click Firefox goes back one page. This is really annoying for several reasons. I can't copy anything or spell check. Also my middle finger when resting on the mouse frequently clicks the right click button when I don't want it to, which just happened, so I've had to retype this whole thing. I can't seem to find any answers online. I've check plugins, extensions and options with no joy.

Is this problem a recent development or has Firefox always done this?
If it's fairly new, can you associate it with any software changes, such as an update to Firefox or your add-ons, or an update to Windows, or an update to your mouse-related software?
Firefox has a built-in shortcut for the Backspace key returning to the previous page. For a mouses/trackball with extra buttons, one of them often is configured as a Back button. Shouldn't be the right button, but... As a diagnostic, could you disable that and see whether it makes any difference? Here's how:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''back''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.backspace_action''' preference and change the value from 0 to 2 (or anything other than 0 or 1) and then click OK.
    Any difference?

  • Please add "open in new tab" in right click context manual for pages in tabs

tab bar pages like google or yahoo. When I want a duplicate page ,
pointing to individual tab & using right click does not have "Open in a new Tab"!
browser like orcabrowser and a few other browser using firefox engine seems to be able to provide this feature.
    Thank you.

Thanks. Have used it to move some things around in the menu items. However, it does not let me make the changes on a right-click dialogue box.

  • Opening a new tab by right clicking from Facebook home page

Whenever I right click and go to a new tab I get a messed up page. This happens only on Facebook when helping friends or viewing something from a post. It only happens on Firefox, tried it on IE plus on 2 more computers. Also when I am playing a game...ie FV and wish to post for help...the box just sets there showing it working but never opens fully so I can post.
Will be glad to send a copy of what the page looks like when I open a new tab if you need it.

here is what the page looks like when I open a new tab...is there anything I can do to fix this...Thank You

  • I receive a confirm dialog box, when clicking on "stay on page" nothing happens

I receive a notice that says "stay on page or leave page". When I click on either button nothing happens, then the page locks up and I have to shut down by pressing the power button as nothing will work and restart my computer a Mac Pro new 2012.
I get the dialog box on this site:
    <br> http://www.toolkitcma.com

Where are these buttons? I took a look at www.toolkitcma.com, but I did not see buttons with those messages on them. Maybe it might have helped if I had an account there, and I did not want to set up one just to test. Does that problem occur with any other site?
