Firefox 15 not compatible with Norton Tool bar, is there going to be a fix?

When will you fix this problem with Norton's Tool Bar compatability? I use this feature all the time.

I had Firefox 18 that crashed with Windows 8, and I also had my Norton toolbar. However, I removed 8 and installed back 7 (Windows), and Norton disappeared. Therefore,I went to Firefox 15 and my bar was back. It was back for the past 2 days, and now it is gone, out of the blue. I have the new Comcast Norton 360 and it has been updated - but my bar is gone. I want my bar and it is the only bar for privacy that I trust. I prefer Firefox 18, if I can have it with my Norton bar. Any ideas? I am not able to go to add on's and click onto "enable" because it states that it is incompatible with Firefox 15, therefore, there are no enable or disable buttons. What is going on?

Firefox 6.0 is the current version.
Get what denoted in what properties link.
You can get the version number in Help -> About Firefox,
and in '''about:support''' typed into the Location bar, and you can use JavaScript to list the user agent -- javascript:navigator.userAgent
I'm not aware of any version of Firefox from Fx 2 on up to Fx 6 where "AVG Safe" is not a problem. Crashes aren't the only failures caused.

  • Mozila 5 is not compatible with google tool bar?!?! a Disaster :S please helop?

The mozila 5 is not compatible with google tool bar !?!?! This is a disaster? Please are y'all aware of this problem ? How could I fix it :S:S

Extensions for Firefox, such as the Google Toolbar, include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
    (1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
    (2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions
This thread has info on both approaches: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/837142 google toolbar does not work with firefox 5.0. why not! | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].
    Any luck?

  • Firefox is not presently compatible with Google Tool Bar. When do you think this may be corrected. I use Google a lot.

Recently I updated my Firefox to 5.0. I did not know until after the loading that it is not compatible with Google Tool Bar. I use Google for many things. When might we expect that to be corrected, if at all?

Where did you read that Google was going to update the Google Toolbar for Firefox? <br />
http://googletoolbarhelp.blogspot.com/2011/07/update-on-google-toolbar-for-firefox.html - that is the latest information I have seen.
Plus, recent changes at Google with them renaming their '''"accounts"''' domain will break all exiting Google Toolbar programs in existence. <br />

How do I access websites that warn: "Firefox is NOT compatible with this application. For best performance, please use Internet Explorer 5.0 and above...."? When I try to download any alternate browser, all I get is another warning that the alternate is "not compatible with your operating system." Is Firefox preventing this? The site listed below is a job application site. I've had this same problem with other job application sites also.

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.
    See http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/features/ and http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/help/
You can just start trying IE versions (or the versions it says on the site) until it lets you in.

  • I use norton anti virus and it has login help for most sites i could use it effectively with firefox earlier version but with firefox 4 the same is not available sttaing firefox is not compatiable with norton anti virus kindly clarify

firefox 4 is not compatible with norton antivirus program. i need a solution for this

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
The core Norton components such as antivirus and firewall will still work, it will just be the add-ons that are not currently compatible.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • FF4 tells me it's not compatible with Norton and SafeCentral...is this true?

When I downloaded FF4 it said it was not compatible with Norton and SafeCentral security systems I use on my laptop. Yet they show they are working on my computer. Are they working or aren't they when I have FF4 open?

We have released a new version of the plugin that is compatible with Firefox 4.

  • I have Webroot Security and Firefox is not compatible with the malicious URLs part of the program? How do I protect myself?

When I downloaded Firefox and was checking my extensions, I was advised that Firefox is not compatible with the malware prevention part of my Webroot security package. I use it successfully with Windows and just renewed for another year. What do you suggest I do to protect myself? I am not a computer expert so if you could reply in plain language it would be appreciated. Also, we stream videos a lot and I noticed that DivX is also not compatible. What do I do about that? Thank you.

I was having this issue for Firefox version 7 and had to spend one hour trying to find a solution. Here is the solution. Go to webroot.com, tab to support and than 2011 product support. Type in Firefox Toolbar it will than say are you unable to use firefox toolbar hit yes. It will say under 1. click hear to download patch. Save the file and after the download run it. After installed close firefox and you should have the webroot toolbar running again.
ff7fix.exe is the file you need.

  • I updated my windows 7 and when I did I received a message that firefox is not compatible with windows 7 updates. What happened?

I got a message to update windows. I updated. My computer said firefox was not compatible with update. I then tried to purchase Avast and it basically crashed my computer. I had help in restoring and when system was checked it showed two different firefox downloads that had not succeeded because they were incompatible with my system. I don't know enough about computers to understand what happened. I have a Dell Studio xps with Windows 7. Thank you.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • I put firefox 4 on my computer but had to remove it since it did not allow the Norton tool bar which identifies safe and dangerous sites. will that featurre be available

The norton tool bar feature which identifies problem sites
(safe web) is a good tool and has saved us from many problems.
From past experience I feel it is something I must have.
I loaded firefox 4 and while I like the program I removed it
because of the lack of that feature but would like to use FF4.

That's not good enough, Tony! Firefox should have let me know before I downloaded the firefox 4. Now I can't go back to the 3.6 or what ever it was. I have gone back to IE until FIREFOX resolves the issues of compatibilty with Norton. I love my norton and will not go without it for even one day!
    Adios!

  • 4.01 is not compatible with Norton toolbar?

I have used Firefox religiously for the last few years and have always been happy with the stability and reliability. But now I have installed the latest version only to find that it did not work with the Norton Toolbar and the Identity Safe in particular. So, I have had to reinstall the 3.6.17 and uninstall the 4.01. Now the earlier version is not functioning correctly. Keeps asking me if I want it to be my default browser, has the home, reload and stop icons relocated in unlikely places and doesn't function with the same predictable reliability. Can I get a fix for this? Or can I get an update notice when the bugs have been worked out of the new version so that I can get the Norton Toolbar back?

Symantec need to correct a mistake they made with their add-ons. They originally updated their add-ons after quite a delay to work with Firefox 4.0 as shown here - http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-4-compatibility-hotfix-is-now-available/td-p/428894
They made an error with the update in only listing it as compatible with Firefox 4.0, so they will not install on Firefox 4.0.1 and subsequent Firefox security updates. Symantec have indicated they will be releasing an update to correct their error soon, for details see http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Norton-Toolbar-not-compatible-with-FF-4-0-1/td-p/442788/page/12

  • Updated Firefox is not compatible with my low vision software - Zoomtext. How can I get Firefox to stop asking me to upgrade!!

Currently using version 3.6.27 as the updated versions are not compatible with my low vision software called Zoomtext. I constantly get Firefox asking me to upgrade. How can I get it to stop asking me to upgrade. (I have tried each upgrade and they are all incompatible with Zoomtext.

Go to '''Options''' window > '''Advanced''' panel > '''Update''' tab > '''Firefox updates '''> click '''Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)''', click '''OK''' to save it, exit firefox and restart it.
see for more info: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Advanced%20panel#w_update-tab Options window - Advanced panel - Update tab]
BUT you see the warning : Warning: If you select this option, you will not receive '''critical security updates that may keep you safe online''' unless you frequently do a '''manual check for updates'''.
    thank you

  • Firefox 5 not compatible with windows 7 apparently!! Need to downgrade to previous version. Computer crashes using ff but nothing else.

Microsoft's site says firefox 3 is compatible with windows 7. however, i've upgraded to firefox 5 and now system crashes to the blue screen.

I have a laptop running Firefox 5.0 on Windows 7 and don't have problem with it.
What I suggest you do in the first instance is to start Windows 7 using the '''Last Known Good Configuration''' which will load the operating system the last time it worked properly, instructions here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Using-Last-Known-Good-Configuration
    Then do the following.<br><br>
#Use Internet Explorer to download Firefox from here: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 5.0.1] and choose "'''Save'''" when you see the prompt and save it to your desktop. ''Do not choose "Run"''.<br><br>
#Next, uninstall the version you have at the moment via "Programs and Features" in Control Panel choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
    #Next, reboot.<br><br>
#When the system boots to the desktop, delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\ <br><br>
#Run the installation file you downloaded earlier.<br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br><br>
I don't know if your bookmarks can be retrieved or not, but the following procedure can be used to make a backup should they still be available.<br><br>
    #Press CTRL+SHIFT+B to open the Bookmarks manager.<br><br>
#Click the link to '''Import and Backup '''and then click '''Export HTML '''and save the file somewhere.
You can use the same Bookmarks Manager to import the file you saved by choosing "Import HTML" should that prove to be necessary.

  • Why Firefox 5 not compatible with google Toolbar please help.

i prefer firefox 5 but why not compatible with google toolbar.

Firefox 4 is not secure; Firefox 5 is a security and stability update for Firefox 4. The only currently supported versions of Firefox are Firefox 5 and Firefox 3.6.19 (support to expire in a month or two).
    As for the Google toolbar....
Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox beyond Firefox 4.
