Firefox 16.0.1 & 16.0.2: the installer makes usage of previous sessions (tabs) impossible
I have Firefox 15.0.1 with the following extensions installed:
- Tab Mix Plus 0.4.0.2
- Session Manager 0.7.9
The Session Manager handles my sessions and restores them if Firefox was closed not properly.
If I download "Firefox Setup 16.0.1.exe" or "Firefox Setup 16.0.2.exe", then close the Firefox 15.0.1, then run either "Firefox Setup 16.0.1.exe" or "Firefox Setup 16.0.2.exe", I have the following issue after Firefox becomes open:
1) I see both the "Firefox" button (which is usually shown instead of the main menu and the window title) and the window title at the same time!
2) I do not see previous tabs and the button "Restore previous session" does not work at all! Please understand me: complete inability to access my previously opened pages - even if I click them one-by-one from Session Manager - just drives me crazy! (When I click some URL in Session Manager, just nothing happens, absolutely nothing.)
The only solution I have for this is to uninstall Firefox 16.0.x and re-install the 15.0.1 - then I have all my previous tabs back after I restart Firefox. So I'm still on 15.0.1 now.
My OS is Windows XP SP3 x86.
What the heck is this install reinstall all about? Firefox comes with a handy dandy tool called Update.

The extension cannot restore saved sessions in Firefox 16.0.1.

How can I get rid of the "Return to Previous Session" tab.
When I close out Firefox.......anyone can go to the computer and hit the "return to previous session" tab and connect with what I was currently working on.....or where I was....or....you can see where I'm going with this. I would like to just have the tab removed so my privacy is maintained.

There are no keys, there is no trial version of OSX (ML or Mavericks) and Mavericks is free
What have you downloaded, and where did you get it -
1. I have a basic MacBook.
2. I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.
3. Under Firefox, I have my preference settings set on "When Firefox starts 'show my windows and tabs from last time'."
4. I have privacy settings set to "Tell websites I do not want to be tracked." and "Firefox will remember history."
Whenever I close Firefox (by clicking on the red dot at the top of the window OR by clicking 'quit Firefox' from the menu) and reopen it, it shows only my home page.
None of my tabs are saved - including the new app tabs (which sounded like something I'd like!) I don't have any trouble pinning the app tabs, but they don't stick. Or pin, that is. :) Nor can I get a restored browsing session.
This is something I can live with, but it's frustrating. Any suggestions?

Firefox will not launch when I click the icon, it worked okay previously
A week ago firefox began taking a long time to launch sometimes requireing reclicking the icon.
Now it will not launch at all.
I get no error messages, nothing happens when I click the icon.
HELPA possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

If Firefox opens up fine with no problems, it's probably one of your extensions that's causing the issue. You can re-enable your add-ons one by one until you find the one that causes the issue upon being re-enabled. -
It works as if it was doing the first run after updating. The point is that it never ends. After every launch it goes tru the whole cycle as if it were being installef for the first time.
You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.

How do I make firefox start with previous session tabs open by default?
I basically want Frefox to start with the same tabs and URL locations as they were when I previously closed Firefox.

No matter what I do, I cannot upgrade firefox, and as a result, almost every site I go on that no longer supports my browser keeps telling me to upgrade, and I keep getting back unwanted viruses. Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works find in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Nothing more to provide. Simple problem not opening previous session tabs when browser is opened after being closed. Was working fine until the upgrade to 7.0.1.
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

I 'm now installing the EGRCM8.6.3.4000 environment.
"Database Upgrade" hangs at 0% during "Completing the Installation" phase.
I checked the grc.log, and found the following WARN and DEBUG messages.
2012-07-20 02:40:05,544 WARN [Thread-35] DBConfigManager:1425 Database is not initialized yet.
2012-07-20 03:31:10,412 DEBUG [el.Default (self-tuning)'] GrcConfig:2530 Could not get value for key 'grc.sso.enabled' due to data base is not ready.
The connection to DB is OK, and the status of DB instance is open now.
I can't figure out why the console said "Database is not initialized yet".
Does anyone have a clue about it?

I haven't finished the installation yet.
"Completing the Installation" I mentioned in previous thread referred to the final installation phase.
After I entered GRC URL (http://hostname:port/grc), the "Database Upgrade" screen hanged at 0% and cannot proceed.
From the grc.log, I can read that the connection seemed OK, and the database also worked well through SQLPLUS.
I am wondering why it happens.

The last version of Firefox that I had was the one before 3.6. I stopped upgrading due to it always messing up and not working right for me... whether it be due to vista, or just errors on your part. My husband decided to upgrade firefox to the newest one two days ago because the version I had was just "too slow!" Ever since he did that, I cannot get firefox to open. No matter how many times I uninstall it and delete everything mozilla on my computer then reinstall after restarting my computer, it just refuses to open. Every time i try it says that firefox has stopped working. It cant even check for solutions. I then try to click on the icon and I get something that says: firefox.exe - Bad Image C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.6195_none_d09154e044272b9a\MSVCP80.dll is either not designed to run n windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
I have tried installing it over and over again several times, same message shows up. So i had clicked on the link to go download the previous version of firefox... what sucks is that the only version on the site is 3.6.27. I have never upgraded to this. So the second i installed that version, i now am able to open up firefox... BUT it is unable to connect. I have internet... a pretty bad ass connection. So my internet is not the problem. I then looked up how to fix that issue and did all 5 things listed under the Firefox cant load pages but other browsers can link. Still nada! I am now stuck using IE and going insane. I am on the verge of throwing my laptop out of the damn window because I have to wait 3 hours for google to load. Nothing is working for me... and it would be appreciated for something more. If i can get help with a ton of details on what to do or how to fix this issue... either version... i would greatly appreciate it. I have to manually close the extra windows and restore the tabs from the previous session, and reopen the sidebar. In disgust I uninstalled Firefox 4 and reinstalled 3.6. Everything works fine in 3.6. Looks to me like Firefox 4 has many major bugs and is not yet ready for prime time. I'll stay with 3.6 for now.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.
