Firefox 16.0.1 marks Norton Toolbar 2013.1.0.32 as incompatible, while Symantec insists it is compatible.

I have worked with Symantec floor manager and he insisted that Norton Toolbar 20131.0.32 is compatible with Firefox 16.0.1. Moreover, he had sent me screenshots to prove it. Yet, on my computer, Firefox 16.0.1 marks Norton Toolbar 20131.0.32 as incompatible. Even if I enable Norton Toolbar using checkCompatibility 1.3 extension, it still does not show.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing both Firefox and Norton, but to no avail. It seems to me as Firefox issue.
Any suggestions?

Look carefully at the following page - http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-16-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/m-p/821572#M4245
It shows a current (new) version of
*Norton Toolbar 2013.1.3.1 -- your image shows that you have version '''''2013.1.0.3''''' (not the latest version)
*That page states, in part -
**''If you are not seeing the Norton Toolbar in Firefox 16, check and make sure you're running NIS or N360 20.1.1.2. Please visit our Norton Update Center to receive the latest update.''
**'''''''<u>You may need to run LiveUpdate and reboot a few times before your product is completely updated to the latest version.</u>''''' It will appear in the LiveUpdate history as Norton Toolbar Add-on for Firefox.''
**The page also states that you may need to click the "Enable" button in Firefox Add-ons. <u>This will not work on your outdated version of Norton Toolbar</u>.
*Additionally, try running the LiveUpdate with Firefox closed.
If the Norton Live Updater is not working properly to install the correct Add-ons, then Norton will need to fix whatever is causing that problem.

  • Help. firefox 19.0 says norton toolbar 2013.2.4.2 is not compatible

Upgraded to 19.0 and lost norton toolbar 2013.2.4.2. Ran liveupdate but 2013.2.4.2 is the latest version.

in my experience through the last few updates norton has always provided an update on the same day a new firefox version was released (except for its security suite offspring for comcast which seems to have a lower priority). it just might take a few days until this is automatically distributed through their liveupdate system, so it's probably best to manually check for updates after a new firefox version has been installed.
firefox has a fixed release schedule - a new version is released every six weeks & the exact dates are published [https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar months in advance], so this certainly doesn't come as a surprise for any other software vendor...

  • I KEEP GET MESSAGES TO UPDATE FIREFOX IF i DO MY NORTON TOOLBAR WON'T WORK UNTIL YOU FIND A SOLUTION CAN I STOP ALL THESE UPDATE MESSAGES?

i HAVE ALREADY STATED THE PROBLEM

hello, norton is always making compatible version of its toolbar available, the day a new firefox is released, so it will already work in firefox 26. please run the norton liveupdate utility repeatedly & until all components are up-to-date. in addition make sure that the toolbar is enabled under ''firefox > addons > extension'' afterwards.

  • I have a PC and a laptop. Both OS Windows 7. Both Firefox 18.0.1. Norton Toolbar works on laptop not on PC! Any ideas?

Not much I can add. On the PC I go to Tools/Addons where I get the message that Norton Toolbar is incompatible with 18.0.1 so why don't I get the same message on the laptop?
Damn it! Was just double checking before sending the message to you lot, so went to laptop/help/troubleshooting info/reset and now I haven't got Norton Toolbar on laptop either.
    Sorry to trouble you all!

You usually can get a compatible Norton update from Symantec LiveUpdate shortly after a new version of Firefox is released. Could you check that and report back on whether it works?

  • I use Firefox on Windows Vista. I have a Norton toolbar. Every day Firefox makes me reinstall the Norton toolbar in order to use it. How do I stop this ?

When my computer has been shutdown for a while, I don't have my Norton toolbar when I first start Firefox. If I then restart Firefox a window opens asking if I want to allow Norton to install the toolbar. When I click allow I am told I have to then restart Firefox again. Upon restarting Firefox again my Norton toolbar is present. Since I shut the computer down every night, I have to go through this entire procedure every morning when I start it up. There is surely a fix for this.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions (wont uninstall norton toolbar), Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • When Firefox 4 was installed the norton toolbar and websearfing protection diasppeared. How do I get it back and working again

My search results no longer contains the "safe, unsafe and other tags from Norton on sites listed in search replies. I also no longer have a norton toolbar nor can I determine how to reload it. I think this happened when I went to 4

  • How do I uninstall Firefox update and make my Norton toolbar work again?

Norton has all of my passwords saved in the toolbar, and now I can access any of them! How do I uninstall Firefox 17 and get back to 16 so that my toolbar works again? (I already ran the Norton Live Update and it did not fix the problem.)

I already ran the Norton Live update and restarted with no success. I have Norton Security Suite, not Norton 360. The only way I have been able to make this work in the past is to stay 2 or 3 versions behind on Firefox.

  • I upgraded to Firefox 19 and my Norton tool bar no longer works. I use the identity safe feature on the Norton toolbar. How do I get it to work ?

After automatic installation of Firefox 19 the Norton Toolbar has disappeared.
The extension of Norton Toolbar 2013.2.4.2 has been set off.
I use Windows XP, everything is fully updated including Norton Live Update, but nothing works.
You can find the same problem with older versions by others.
Why don't they work together to avoid that my weekend vanishes in searching for solutions.
All these automatic 'solution finders' are a ruin for an old user.
Perhaps you can help, thank you

Thank you all for your reactions. This morning the problem is solved by the helpdesk of Norton Symantec. The problem on my Vaio XP was extra: the old toolbar was set off by Firefox, but could't be removed.
Therefore they had to remove Norton completely and then reinstall the whole program.
That deliverd the solution: extension 2013.2.4.2 was removed and replaced bij 2013.3.1.3.
I think that these kind of problems could be avoided when we could remove the disabled extension, so it wouldn't block the new one??
My problem is now solved. I hope someone else can use this. Thank you!

  • Why won't Norton Toolbar work with Firefox 23.0.1?

Norton Toolbar 2013.4.1.2 is disabled and no option to enable is available. I have updated my Norton 360 with all the latest upgrades. Norton's site says it has updated it's software to be compatable with Firefox 23.

  • Firefox 21 Can't see Norton 360 V20.3.1.22 Toolbar

After installing the latest version of Norton 360, Firefox can't see the Norton Toolbar. I reinstalled Norton 360 and upgraded Firefox to version 21. LiveUpdate says it downloaded the Norton 360 Toolbar Add-On.
I've tried the steps for corrupted extension files, but that didn't help. I've been working with Norton
tech support via their message boards, and none of their suggested fixes has helped. Since the Norton 360 Toolbar Add-On was downloaded by LiveUpdate after I reinstalled Norton 360, it appears that the
problem is with Firefox 21. How do I fix this?

hello, according to norton, you need version 2013.3.5.1 of the toolbar which is compatible with firefox 21. please run the norton liveupdate repeatedly & until all components are up-to-date. in addition make sure that the toolbar is enabled under ''firefox > addons > extension'' afterwards.

  • I still can't get Norton Toolbar to enable in firefox 21.0

I've followed all of the available processes and have run LiveUpdate dozens of times and the toolbar still says it's incompatible with this version of Firefox and won't let me enable it.

hello skyflight9, after running norton liveupdate you should get [https://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-20-amp-Google-Chrome-26-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/937023 version 2013.3.4.3 of the toolbar] which is compatible with current browser versions - your system details show that you're still having norton toolbar 2013.3.3.19 installed though. if running liveupdate repeatedly doesn't work for you and you cannot obtain the latest version onto your computer this way, please contact norton's support in order to get their product working.

  • Firefox 9.01 does will not recognize/update Norton Toolbar update

Problem 1 on a Win 7 Pro computer: Firefox 9.01 has disabled Norton Toolbar ver. 2011.7.3.6 and will not update to the latest Norton toolbar version (2011.7.4.3). I have checked for updates in the add-on tab, and preformed Live Updates on Northon 360 version 5.0, and rebooted endless times to no avail. Other than going back to Firefox 8, is there any other solution? BTW, Norton IPS is at ver. 3.2 (OK).
Problem 2 on a Win XP Pro computer: Similar to above also with Norton 360 ver. 5.0. In this case, however, Norton Toolbar is stuck at 5.6, and Norton IPS is stuck at 2.0. Both refuse to update regardless of how many time I perform Live Update on Norton (and reboot).
    VERY FRUSTRATING!!

You need to run LiveUpdate with Norton as per http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-9-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/615563
If you are having problems with Norton and or their Extension in Firefox then you may get better support on Norton forum.

  • How do I return to firefox 3.0. Norton toolbar is not compatible with firefox 4

When I upgraded to firefox 4 I found the Norton toolbar was incompatable with this beta version. I contacted Norton and they suggested I return to older version of firefox. How do I go back to firefox version 3.6?

The Turnitin system requirements on mention Firefox 3. If it does not support Firefox 4 you can downgrade to Firefox 3.6
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Why is Norton Toolbar still disabled even with updated Norton Identity Safe Toolbar in FF 19.0.2?

I have FF 19.0.2 installed with Norton Internet Security 2013 at my office. Both the Norton Identity Safe Toolbar and Norton Toolbar are updated and working fine. At home, I am using the exact same FF 19.0.2 with the exact same Norton Internet Security 2013 but only the Norton Identity Safe Toolbar is enabled. The Norton Toolbar (shows older version of 1.0.32), however, is disabled. I have tried a Norton Live Update numerous times and have even uninstalled FF 19 and re-installed it. Nothing works. I cannot get the Norton Toolbar enabled. And until I get it enabled I cannot use Norton Identity Safe. This is very frustrating!
    Any help? Thanks in advance.

That's the problem. I should be using Norton Toolbar version 2013.3.1.3 but it is 2013.1.0.32. I see no way I can manually update it. I do a Live Update but the version doesn't update. I tried re-starting the system, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox 19.02 (latest version) but nothing works. Extremely frustrating. I even tried going back to FF 18 and even that says that the installed Norton Toolbar 2013.1.0.32 is not compatible. :(
I do believe this IS a Firefox issue. The Toolbar is disabled and Norton support says I just need to click on Enable. Problem is, there is no Enable option. It's just disabled. VERY frustrating!
