Firefox 21 continuously crashes

Crash ID: bp-dbb6ef64-e1df-43d3-89e5-2ee992130525
Firefox 21 crashes whenever a link is opened in a Google search or when Firefox is opened from a link.
I have 2 disks in the computer, one running Windows 7 and the other Windows 8. Firefox 21 crashes on both.
All drivers are up to date per Slim Drivers.
Windows is up to date.
Norton Internet Security is running, up to date and a full system scan reports no issues.
Scans by other security software programs report no issues.
For trouble shooting the following has been done:
- Reset Firefox
- Disabled all Firefox addons
- Start Firefox in safe mode
- Disabled programs running in the background using PC Mag's "EndItAll"
- Disabled all startups using MSConfig and restarted
- Disabled all non MS services using MSConfig and restarted
- Uninstalled Firefox 21 using Revo Uninstaller set to advancesd mode, thereby clearing the registry and files of all extraneous Firefox settings. After that, a fresh copy of Firefox was reinstalled.
- Tested memory (Memtest86+)
Reverting to Firefox 20 solves the problem. I reverted to Firefox 20 by deleting Firefox folders in Program Files (x86), and in the Local and Roaming folders. The contents of those folders was replaced with a backup that had been running v20.

1. Go to "Tools>Options"
2. In the "Advanced" Tab click on "General" tab
3. Untick "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Confirmed working!!!!

  • Firefox continually crashes, on opening, whilst browsing, or when static

Firefox continually crashes to the extent that it has become unusable. I have updated to the newest version but the outcome is the same. From reading articles the problem may be due to an add on - "Any Colour". On restoring the session the "Any Colour" tab also reopens. I have tried to uninstall this add on via - Tools - Add Ons but when trying to open "add ons" nothing happens, I usually get a "script error" and Firefox usually hangs/crashes. I am at a loss what to do. Although I know my way round my PC - Windows 7 64 bit version. I am not very technically aware. I can manage basic instructions but that is about my limit.

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.

  • Firefox continually crashes when started up.

I open Firefox, and it crashes 5 seconds later. During those five seconds I click on 'Restore' and then it still crashes. After a few crashes I get the option to start in safe mode or restart, when I open in safe mode it still crashes. I haven't tried to reset it as I would like to keep all my settings...

  • After latest update (today), Firefox continually crashes. How can I uninstall this latest update? Tried creating new profiles and they also crash.

Firefox worked earlier today (August 19, 2013 about 6:30 pm EDT). When I opened Firefix after 9pm EDT, Firefox attempted to perform an update. No error was given, but now Firefox will not start. Running a Windows 8 machine with all updates and current security software with no known malware on my system.
When I try to start Firefox, the system shows the "working" circle, but then nothing. I created a new profile, and got Firefox to start, but whenever I try to go to any website, Firefox crashes.

  • Firefox continually crashes, cannot open it at all

I was using firefox fine, then it suddenly crashed, restarting it didn't do anything. Gives me the option to reset things, but it still crashes, even craches in safe mode.
Any suggestions? I am tempted to uninstall and reinstall, but I really need to back up my bookmarks first if I do this, but obviously I can't do that if I can't open firefox!
    thanks

  • I have a brand new laptop, two days old, and since I don't want to IE I downloaded Firefox. Firefox continuously crashes, and I have tried all the options.

I have updated everything (I am aware of an issue with my graphics driver), but to be honest nothing seems to 'finish' but I don't think that has anything to do with this. The computer is new, out of the box, and as far as I'm aware, up-to-date (apart from the amd issue). The laptop is running the latest windows 8.

My versions of Safari and firefox continually crash. I am using the mavericks OS on a mid 2011 13" macbook. is there a simple fix?

Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
        Restart the computer.

  • Firefox continues to crash unexpectedly. The report mesage suggests that the information I send will help Firefox to cure the problem but I never hear anything from them. How is someone who isn't a computer geek supposed to solve this problem?

Firefox continues to crash unexpectedly. When it does a message requests me to send a report that is supposed to help Firefox understand the problem but I never hear from them again. Just how is someone who isn't a computer geek able to understand all the detailed discussions from other users. My Firefox is completely up to date. Is there anyone who can explain what is happening in simple terms?

    Hi Mariah ~
It's Shaunn, the original poster. Thanks for your posting. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's having this problem.
Now that you mention it, I'm having the exact same problem on Facebook as well, when I play Family Feud.
I wish someone would investigate and post a solution to this problem. No-one from Playlist has responded, and no-one "Officially" from Firefox either.
So Mariah, I appreciate you and your post.
If you find anything out...from anywhere...would you please let me know. You can post it right here and I'll get an email from Firefox.
I'll do the same for you.
Enjoy your day and good luck.
    Shaunn

  • Firefox is crashing continuously when I open it. I'm unable to open it in safe mode and reinstalling the application has not worked.

I've been running Firefox v. 18.0.2 and for a few days the application continually crashes everytime I open it. I'm currently unable to get into safe mode and this is occurring on all profiles on the machine. I've went through and updated all my Add-Ons however the issue persists. I decided to re-install the application wiping out any configurations that were previously configured. I've also tried deleting the entire %APPDATA%\Mozilla folder. Up until this point I am unable to get Firefox running.

    1. Click the Windows Start button, and select Run... on Windows XP or press Windows Key + R on Windows Vista/7. Type in "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted" including the quotation marks and click OK.
    2. In the resulting folder will be a text file for each crash report you have submitted. Using the View menu, arrange them by date to find out which is the newest file; and double-click on it to open it.
    3. Report back to us with the latest crash ids.

  • Why does Firefox continue to crash?

Can someone please suggest why Firefox continues to crash when attempting to download a file. It happens every time, without fail.
    * I have deleted the downloads.sqlite file (more than once) to no effect.
    * I have disabled AVG firewall etc - to no effect.
    * Firefox originally crashed on the latest version, so I downgraded to v5.0.1 - to no effect. I have checked using AVG and an online virus/spyware checker and can find no infection.
    * I have submitted 17 crash reports since 29 September, but when I right click on any of them, and try to open in a new tab, I receive the following messge: “We couldn't find the OOID you're after. If you recently submitted this crash, it may still be in the queue.”
My OS is Vista Business 32 bit. Thank you for any help & advice.

  • Firefox keeps crashing at seemingly random and infrequent times on different websites each time. One moment it will be fine, then without reason it will crash continuously

For a good few months now Firefox has quite frequently been crashing on me for no reason that i can distinguish. I have attempted to fully re-install Fire-Fox with a fresh install and tried sorting out the addons but nothing seems to help. I also ensure to run it in administrator mode for windows 7 but again, to no success. Basically i could be browsing the web perfectly fine and it will randomly crash on a website, what websites it crashes on changes all the time, some times it even crashes on my google homepage constantly and often only a computer restart will sort it out. It will then run fine for a short while before inevitably Firefox will crash again. If i could find out whats causing these crashes i could then work on stopping them. Thanks in advance for any support.

  • Firefox constantly crashes on startup

Firefox is continually crashing on me. It opens for a few seconds to tell me it can't open my tabs, and then crashes. My Mac OSX is up-to-date, and I ran a virus scan yesterday (before I started having problems with Firefox) and it found nothing. I've tried launching Firefox in safe mode, but still have the problem. I've set up Firefox for automatic updates, so I believe it's up-to-date.
