Firefox 23 loads slower than Internet Explorer 10

I was doing a speed test between Firefox 23 and Internet Explorer 10. If you visit http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/PenguinMark/ all addons are disable on Firefox 23 and still slower than internet explorer. Why is that?

I don't know how to interpret my results. I got 1 in Firefox (no snow visible) and 8370 in IE (blizzard). Maybe I'm blocking something?

Firefox needs longer to startup than IE. IE is part of Windows and large parts are already loaded if Windows is started. Firefox uses XUL and JavaScript code that needs to be loaded and compile on startup and that takes longer. That is what makes Firefox configurable by extensions makers and proficient users.
How long does it take for Firefox to start?
A few seconds (less that 20) is quite normal for the first start, especially if you have a lot of bookmarks or history or extensions. A subsequent start should be much faster with all the files in the disk cache. There is also security software that can monitor disk access of Firefox to strictly and cause extra delays in starting.

Is firefox ACTUALLY more secure than Internet Explorer 8?

Hello Mozilla forum members. I am currently a Firefox user. An NSSLabs test claims Internet Explorer 8 is the most secure web browser. Some other sources also agree. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Thanks!

Firefox cannot load websites when Internet Explorer can.

I have read your article about this but I cannot follow your instructions as the only "tools" I can find to click on is in IE and brings down "internet options", which has an "advanced" tab (not a panel) and no settings tab. Am I misssing something? I am having the same problem on my desk top! Both have just occured in the last 2w. Thanks; Robin

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.

Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.

Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:

Spry menu works in Firefox and Safari, but not Internet Explorer

I designed my school website in CS4 and CS5. The left spry menu bar appears correctly in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer the gray background and buttons do not appear. You can only see the text and when you scroll over the text, it disappears even though when you click on it, the link does appear. The website is http://ml.chinookschools.org. I created the site on a mac and I am hosting it on a mac mini server on my network at school. I am a beginner with Dreamweaver and I'm not sure if someone can help me with this, but I would sure be appreciative for any help offered. Here is the source code for the main template page:

You are not using the latest Spry files
The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
Then, if you have a look near the bottom of SpryMenuBarVertical.css you will see that the white background colour has been specified for IE as in
@media screen, projection
    ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
    display: inline;
    f\loat: left;
    background: #FFF;
Change the value to #CCC and it will have fixed that part of the problem.
When you upgrade to the later version of Spry, make sure to keep a copy of the CSS file as a reference to modifying the new CSS file.

Cant use some funtions in firefox but still work with internet explorer, too long to explain in one ssentence

recently I have found that certain buttons on sites like facebook and others will not function when I am using firefox but if I use internet explorer those same buttons work fine. one example is the log out button in facebook. you can click on the command button all day but nothing happens. First thought this was a facebook issue but noticed certain command buttons did not work in other sites as well. Went to i.e. and everything works fine what has happened
