Firefox 29 crashes on Solaris 10
I recently downloaded both the "pkg" and "tar" packages for Firefox 29 for Solaris 10 from "http://download-origin.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/29.0/contrib/". On two different Solaris 10 servers after either install, I find that the executable (/opt/sfw/bin/firefox) causes a Segmentation Fault and does not start a browser (same for -safe-mode). I also found that if I remove the user's profiles.ini file in .mozilla/firefox, that the crash does not occur and a browser starts (also starts in -safe-mode). In the browser I have tried running about:crashes and did not get any results. I also searched for Crash Report directories and found none. The Solaris 10 servers do not have Internet access, so what do I need to provide to assist in working this issue? Thank you.
not to say you're having the same problem, but we've noticed that (with) 1.6 we needed to change the mx (we also did ms but most likely didn't need to).
it seemed to be picking up all 128 threads on our T series servers and attempting to use rather larger than we'd hoped for default settings otherwise...maybe it determines the mx setting based on the number of threads

Firefox 15 crashing when started from Command line in Windows 15
I have been loading my work space via a batch file everyday for the past 4 years.
One of the apps I start is Firefox using the following command:<br />
@start /D"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\" firefox.exe
My batch file would run, and close with no issue.
As of Firefox 15, using the same command now ties Firefox to the console.
When I close the console, Firefox closes, when I open it again from the standard shortcut, I get the "Firefox has crashed"
I also notice that since upgrading to Firefox 15, some console.log calls go to the Windows Console while firefox is loading. Most notably is HTTPSEverywhere.
When I rolled back to Firefox 14, the issue disappearedHi,
I'm really sorry to have caused this regression.
Thanks for reporting this issue, I've done various tests before submitting my patch but I totally missed that issue...
It is now matter of getting my fix reviewed and landed, but in the meantime, I tried to craft an addon that would hopefully fix your issues.
You can download it here:

I disabled extensions per Firefox instructions and discovered that 'firefox gui element capture plug in 1.0' is the one causing my problems. Problems being Firefox either crashes or refuses to open an additional window, and then crashes.
I am not sure why this started happening, however please update to version 32.0.3 when its available.
The places we can troubleshoot is in the Applications menu under preferences.

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
* [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
* [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you. -

Firefox 22 crashes when clicking a link in a thunderbird 3.011 email
I updated to FF 22 a couple of days ago and found that when I clik on a link in a Thunderbird email FF doesn't start but immediately crashes. Safe-mode does nothing to help. If I start the browser first it seems to be ok. It is set as the default browser. The only thing that fixed my problem was reverting to FF 21.
Windows XP SP2
I've never had issues with FF so this is a new thing. I've tried reinstalling FF 22 and upgraded Thunderbird. It didn't help either. We're sorry to hear that your Firefox is crashing when you open it. Firefox consistently crashes when loading Flash sites
For a couple of reasons I decided to go ahead and install OSS a few days ago. On the first day, the install went smoothly and everything was working just as it should (I used the oss-linux-free PKGBUILD in AUR). Yesterday and today, however, I've started to get a reoccurring problem that is, to put it lightly, driving me nuts.
Firefox (or Epiphany, though I prefer the former) consistently crashes when opening up any site that uses Flash or Java. With the way the internet is going, this is a large chunk of websites—not being able to visit YouTube or the website for Enemy Territory: Quake wars, for instance, is driving me nuts.
Now, when I say "consistently" I don't mean each and every time. I've been able to get these sites to load a number of times, but in the last two days Firefox has crashed in probably 2/3-3/4 of the time when loading any site that has a Flash element. I've made sure that I have not wrongly assumed this has to do with my newly installed OSS by uninstalling, reinstalling the kernel and all ALSA packages, rebooting, and then surfing the web for a while to see if anything went wrong. It didn't.
So my question is this: why is Firefox crashing so often in the two days since I've installed OSS? What can be done to rectify this?
After some experimenting, it seems the problem is worst under the following conditions:
- Having several tabs open, though not necessarily several tabs with Flash
- Listening to music and THEN navigating to YouTube or something.
However, it's not specific to these circumstances. In fact, just before I decided to make this post I opened Firefox, went to a site with Flash on it (one tab), and it immediately shut down. I tried this three or four additional times and was met with the exact same results.
Other info
Firefox: Pre-compiled Mozilla i686 build, v. 2.0.0.11
OSS: OSS (GPL version) 4.0, build 1012
Operating System: Arch Linux 2.6.23-ARCH
I've also posted this here.I have the same problem. I've never been able to identify when it started. Once firefox crashes, mpd, if it was playing, becomes unresponsive. The only way to get a flash site working again is to reboot my computer.
I uninstalled flash: I'm not going to put up with that kind of behaviour. Now I watch youtube videos on other people's computers --you know how they say "You've GOT to see this movie!". And if I really need to see that one specific video, there's youtube-dl.
Unfortunately gnash doesn't work on youtube for me. -
Firefox keeps crashing. Even when i start it in safe mode
I have a Windows 7 64bit computer working with firefox for a long time. Yesterday they think they opened some SPAM message, firefox crashed and isn't working any more. I have performed all actions mentioned below without any succes:
- Firefox does the same starting in safe mode. Removed the profiles and created a new one without importing any settings. same problem
- Removed Firefox, removed all folders, removed all Firefox links in registry. Reinstalled firefox, same problem
- Removed java and flash, firefox still crashes
- created a new user account in Windows, logged on, still the same problem.
- Scanned the computer with Norman Security Suite, McAffee Stinger, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, TrendMicro Housecall. Except for cookies, nothing was found.
- Windows System restore wasn't configured so unfortunately no restore points available.
User was really happy with Firefox and really doesn't want to use another browser, but now she has to.
Reinstalling the OS isn't really an option, to much settings, software and connections to other devices in the network.

Help me please
Thanks in advance.Hello sanchit77,
Thank you for posting here on the Mozilla Support Forums! We appreciate you as a user of Firefox!
I would suggest a clean reinstall to resolve your issue.
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
#Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer#w_uninstall-firefox|Uninstall Firefox]] article.
'''IMPORTANT:''' On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do '''not''' check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox [[Profiles|user profile data]] will be removed from your computer.
After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:
* '''(On 32-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
* '''(On 64-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox''
#Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
#In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
#Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
#* On 32-bit Windows, double-click the '''Program Files''' folder to open it.
#* On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the '''Program Files (x86)''' folder.
#Look for a '''Mozilla Firefox''' folder. If you find one, right-click it and select ''Delete'' and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you! -
So firefox 4 crashes when opening in-browser pdfs and a whole host of other sites, even with no addons running.
I've found a fix: start in safe mode, then close and open in normal mode. This always solves the problem.
But '''why?''' What is causing this incredibly annoying problem. I went from happily browsing at high speeds (firefox 3.6) to suddenly finding myself propping my head on my arm, looking at a jammed firefox, trying not to go crazy, for about 2 minutes until it unjams (for pdfs - for the other sites it doesnt unjam) - and the pdf page ends up just black. God forbid I press F5 again lest I want to relive the experience.
This only happens on my work laptop. It's a top of the line laptop. It connects via a remote VPN. I'm not sure if that's relevant but I'm trying to give as much info as possible.1. You have a pre-release Beta 1 version of what will become Firefox 4 in like 5 or 6 months. Unless you are intending to test it for flaws and report those flaws to help in the development process, don't use it.
2. Did you create a new Profile for 4.0b1, and are you using that Profile with it? ''That isn't done automatically when you install 4.0b1, and those of us who have been doing the "testing" for many years consider a new Profile as the basis of doing out testing.''
IMO, Mozilla is making a huge mistake by directly offering these beta versions to the general public.
Also IMO. if you want to play with 4.0b1, use the Portable Firefox 4.0beta version to minimize any conflicts with a currently installed version of Firefox, and to eliminate the need for creating a new Profile for 4.0 Beta #:
Download Firefox Portable Test to your hard drive and double click the '''FirefoxPortableTest_4.0_Beta_#_English.paf.exe''' file. The entire installation (including a new Profile for "Portable") will be self-contained in the \Program Files\FirefoxPortableTest\ folder and won't interfere with an "official" version that you already have installed. Your Profile will be in the \Program Files\FirefoxPortableTest\Data\profile\ folder.
The "down side" is that Firefox Portable won't launch if any other version of Firefox is already running.

For a good few months now Firefox has quite frequently been crashing on me for no reason that i can distinguish. I have attempted to fully re-install Fire-Fox with a fresh install and tried sorting out the addons but nothing seems to help. I also ensure to run it in administrator mode for windows 7 but again, to no success. Basically i could be browsing the web perfectly fine and it will randomly crash on a website, what websites it crashes on changes all the time, some times it even crashes on my google homepage constantly and often only a computer restart will sort it out. It will then run fine for a short while before inevitably Firefox will crash again. If i could find out whats causing these crashes i could then work on stopping them. Thanks in advance for any support.
