Firefox 29 has, this morning and for no apparent reason, stopped recognising 2 and 3 fingure trackerpad gestures. Why?

Currently running Mavericks in Mac computer with Firefox 29 Beta. Software has not updated for a couple of days and no changes have been made to the configuration in any way for at least a week.
Everything working normally yesterday but, this morning, all two and three finger gestures on my trackerpad had stopped working. This is not happening on any other application on my system so must, therefore, be a firefox issue.
Would appreciate any suggestions

Yup, they are are working on this and the team is aware of this issue.

Last comment has a suggested work around:
<blockquote>
I then realised I had recently disabled the "Notification Center" swipe on trackpad options (System Preferences -> Trackpad ->More Gestures -> Tick/Untick Notification Center). I re-enabled this and the two finger swipe to go back works as intended.

I have a  iPad, 32g, and for no apparent reason, the screen goes black and whatever app I am using is closed on me. It seems to be happening more and more frequently, especially when loading apps, or trying to watch a YouTube video. I try to open safari or youtube again and it will often crash several times before it may or may not decide to load for me. It is extremely annoying and getting to the point where I can not use it

Standard troubleshooting steps in order are as follows:
Power the iPad off and on.
An iPad reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.
Restore your iPad with iTunes from your iPad's backup.
Restore your iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from your iPad's backup.
If no change after the last step, your iPad has a hardware problem.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • My 802.1X Authentication fails repeatedly, and for no apparent reason.

I'm a student at university, and my campus uses WPA2 Enterprise wireless in which we have to enter our central user name and password. I work for the campus tech help desk, and I've tried every possible password and have configured the wireless countless times, and I'm starting to think it's a more serious problem. Thing is, I've connected for at least a year now, and just in the past few weeks it started to refuse. First, here's the unhelpful error message I receive:
"802.1X is unable to authenticate. It is possible that the configuration you have provided is invalid. If you are unsure about what configuration to connect with, check with your network administrator.
    ( Error: 1 on port en1 )"
And just in case, here's the directions for setting up wireless on campus, which worked perfectly for me before: http://www.uc.edu/ucit/access/wpa2instructionsv2.html
I've done all I can think of at this point. I keep editing the wireless in and out of the "preferred networks," I even went into my system library and removed all of it manually and tried again, but no luck. Google searching yields nothing useful. Please, if anyone could give me some advice, I'd appreciate it.

In the off chance that anyone from the UC campus also comes here and looks at this problem.
There is currently an authentication problem with the campus WPA2 network related to Central login. If you have recently updated your password (as it forces you to do about every 3 months) then the new password is not being verified for use with the wireless network. This wouldn't be that big of a problem, but it also kicks out the user's old password... leaving the user unable to connect.

  • Has anyone encountered Redwood suddenly and for no apparent reason failing to start a previously running job

    Hi
We've seen this on a number of occassions -our Redwood system suddenly stops running a job that was previously running with no issue. - has anyone else encountered this issue before? - We have been unable to find any documents detailing parameter that might be controlling this ? -
We are on Redwood 7.30.7 version
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Conor

    Hey Conor,
First thing your Build version. It is very old and a lot of bugs have been fixed now.
Current available build is M33.104. Please do upgrade.
Have you searched SAP notes for your version? If it is a bug it would have been mentioned in the note for the next build version.
What do you mean the job suddenly stops? What do you see in the job status?
Is it a recurring job? Have you checked the schedule calendar of the particular job in status area?
Also make sure, the time window on which is the job is running is closed for that time.
Also check the submit frame. Submit frame is closed if the corresponding time window is closed.
    Thanks
    Nanda

  • Has anyone had thier Itunes wiped for no apparent reason since the new ios?

All of my music and books were deleted from my Iphone 5.  Any help?  Will anything else do that if it wasn't the above?  There was also an Itunes upgrade

Any iTunes purchases can be redownloaded.
For Music: Open iTunes > More > Purchased > Music
For Books: Open iBooks > Store > Purchased
Anything that wasn't purchased from iTunes will need to be resynced from your computer.

  • My Macbook Pro suddenly, and for no apparent reason, will not connect to the internet?

About a week ago I went to go online and my computer said I had no internet connection.  Around that same time I noticed that my background on my desk top was back to the factory set background it came with, but I did not change it.  That is the only thing I noticed out of sorts.  I asked the other members of my family if their computers had internet and they DO.  So does my iPod.  I knew it was not my internet service, but my computer.
There is a "!" on the internet signal icon (top right).  When I click on it I get a message in the drop down menu that says "Alert:  No Internet Connection...."  When I click on that, I get "Network Diagnostics" pane asking me to select location.  I choose 'automatic', 'continue', then 'Wi-Fi' and 'continue'.  Then it asks me to select Wi-Fi network.  I highlight my network then continue.  At this point, the words on the left are Wi-Fi- with a green dot, Wi-Fi settings with a green dot, Network settings with a yellow dot, ISP with a green dot, and Interenet and Server both with red dots.  Then it comes up  * "Network Change Detected - your network configuration has changed.  Click OK to proceed to the next step".  When I click OK,  it asks me for wireless security info.  I choose WEP password and then put my password in, and check the box next to "remember password in keychain", then continue.  Goes right back to the "Network Change Detected" message at the * above  and all the dots to the left accept the Wi-Fi one are now RED.  I just keep going in circles from there, continually coming back to this message no matter what I do!  I have no idea what happened or what to do?!
Does anyone have any ideas?  Please help!  I am a student and don't have any money to take it to a professional.  I am the only one in my house that has a Mac (everyone else has PC's) so no one can really help me troubleshoot.  I'm not a techy at all, but can follow directions if anyone can give me specific steps to try. Thank you so much in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Crashing with Kernel Panics for no apparent reason - HELP!!

Hello - new to this forum, and I hope someone can help me resolve a problem I've been recently having with my PowerMac G5.
It all started when I installed some an additional 2GB of RAM (bought from Crucial, which is always very good and reliable) to add to my existing 2GB of Apple RAM, and soon afterwards, found the Mac crashing with the 'grey veil of death' happening quite a lot.
I ran Memtest several times, which showed n problem with the RAM, but I removed it anyway, to see if it was that which was causing it, and the Mac still keeps crashing with either a grey veil of death, or just a total freezeup, requiring a hard-reboot.
I have tried everything - removing all attached devices, resetting the PRAM, pressing the little reset button on the logic board, removing the battery and unplugging the Mac for a day, swapping the Apple RAM (which has always been fine) into different slots.... nothing seems to work.
At the weekend, the Mac wouldn't even boot up, and kept turning itself off during startup after in the grey screen with the Apple logo and spinning radar-wheel.
I got it to boot up OK from an external firewire drive I have, but Disk Utility said it couldn't fix the drive and Diskwarrior also said it was irreparable.
I did manage to get Techtool to repair it though, which took about 9 hours but it did successfully rebuild the volume structure and the Mac would then boot up fine and all seemed ok, but it still crashes randomly and for no apparent reason.
I never did put the new RAM back into the machine so it's all as it was before all this trouble started, and I have no devices attached to the Mac anymore, except the original Apple keyboard and mouse (which I don't normally use, but my wireless one doesn't let me start up from an external drive or reset PRAM or anything...).
I'm going mad trying to figure out what is wrong with this thing, and I have just read how to get a crash-report (although it means nothing to me), so am posting it here.. I hope that's OK....
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
    Thanks
    Matt

The line which starts "BSD process name corresponding to current thread...." says something different in most of the panic logs, so it doesn't seem to be constantly mentioning one app or anything....
Does any of this make sense to anyone?!

  • N73 Shutting off for no apparent reason

    Hi all
I'm new here, I have already checked the site for similar postings and found one in particular that was identical to my subject heading, however, there is no remedy that I can see anywhere on this site, I did try to google it and the only fix I could find was to update the firmware, which I did, this made no difference at all, the phone still shuts off from time to time and for no apparent reason, its not the battery, as it turns on without any issue, the phone was a gift from my company, so no proof of purchase, although have the box, with bar code, IME number and various other numbers, but Nokia say they cannot accept the phone without proof of purchase, so there you go, has anyone found out why this is happening, myself and the other guy who posted cannot be the only people with this particular problem and I'm sure that someone from Nokia will be reading these posts, surely they know about it and have a fix, if so I would very much like to know what it is, thank you.
    Regards
    The Pozz

Without the option of bringing it to you Nokia Care Centre, the only suggestions I can give are as follows:
    1. Make sure your battery contacts are clean and battery is secure.
    2. Reset your phone.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
    First try these
First try *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
If that does not work then try *#7370# - Reformat your phone

  • ITunes abruptly ends for no apparent reason

Lately, for the past 2 weeks or so, my iTunes has been ending abruptly for no apparent reason. Usually, I'm editing my music or doing something completely harmless when I get a popup from explorer saying that "iTunes must close... we are sorry for the inconvenience." I have no other programs running when this usually happens. And I am updated with the latest version.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is this a problem with my pc?

    Hello there, kregerro.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great, in-depth steps for troubleshooting issues with iTunes like you are describing:

  • All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, it takes up to 5 minutes for the prompt for my password to come come on screen?

When I open Thunderbird it takes up to 5 minutes for the prompt to come up to enter my password. This has just started happening-for no apparent reason. I opened the program in 'safe mode' and it made no difference. Please advise.

    Hello Matt,
I hope you had a nice holiday...
OK, so, opening in safe mode does not change behavior.
I'm on Mac (ver 10.9.5), Thunderbird 31.3.0 - up to date.
I'm using a POP server. If changing to IMAP will be beneficial please give instructions. I didn't find anything helpful on the Mozilla site for doing this.
    recap:
It takes 2+ minutes for my password verification to come up.
It no longer automatically downloads new emails once I am able to enter password (I checked the account settings and it IS selected to do this).
It takes 1-2 minutes to send messages (no attachments).
I can't think of anything I may have done to cause this change in the way it works. Is there any other specific information you'd like?
    Thanks,
    Laura

what happens with the operating system safe mode?
Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • Creating calendar-Month names shrink for no apparent reason?

In the midst of creating a calendar and for no apparent reason, the Month Year title on every page shrinks to a barely legible size and cannot be repaired.  Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?  This is the third time it has happened - most recently while reproducing on the calendar on which it last happened.

No - But I believe that printing of iPhoto projects is no longer supported for iPhoto '08 - you may have to upgrade to iPhoto '09 or '11 to actually print the calendar

Zoom-in, zoom-out pinch gesture stopped working a few days ago for no apparent reason. I went to Preferences>Gestures, turned off the selection, turned it on again, rebooted, etc. HELP. Any suggestions?

Try Settings>General>Siri>Off. Restart the phone then go back and turn Siri on again. It can take a few minutes for Siri to totally activate again.
