Firefox 3.5 availability

The version of Firepass we use for remote access is only certified for version 3.5 of Firefox. Is that version still available for download and installation somewhere?

Right directory, but apparently Mozilla doesn't support directory browsing with their web server so you have to have the exact URL, http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.5.19/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%203.5.19.exe , or go farther up the directory tree and browse to http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ but without the accidentally included comma that was included earlier in this thread.

• Is Firefox for Android available as a development component (like Android WebView)?

I want to develop an app which includes the Android WebView (http://developer.android.com/reference/android/webkit/WebView.html).
Is the Firefox browser also available as such a component to be integrated in Android Apps?

Actualy I did give that idea a try. I removed the huge directory and replaced it with a 200 meg zip file and the program actually loaded my other files a lot faster. I've seen an improvement in my program's performance when I split my 8000 file dir into 27 separate directories. It is still slow but not as bad as before.
I'm fairly certain now that Android does not like very large directories.

For those Mozilla Firefox Users who have been frustrated  with HP Smart Web Printing Add-On, here is a SOLUTION that worked for me.
Be sure you have download the latest Firefox 3.5.5 and HP SWP Version 4.6 with extracted files with dates of Oct 22, 2009 or later.
Using Windows Vista Home Premium with all updates to Nov 10, 2009.
Using Mozilla Firefox Version 3.5.5  updated to Nov 10, 2009
Today, November 10, 2009 I downloaded the HP Smart Printing Add-on version 4.6
The downloaded installer file:  hp_smart_web_printing.exe contains files dated Oct 22, 2009.
The HP Smart Web Printing Instructions tell you to leave your Firewall enabled, however you should disable any Anti Virus Programs.
When you run the installer it asks you to read and review each of four items and make any changes and/or Accept. (License Agreement and other info.
Program then installs.  Follow all instructions.
When installation is complete, restart Mozilla Firefox Browser.   I also restarted my computer just to be sure.
In my case, the Smart Web Printing ICON did NOT appear in the Toolbar window or in any of the windows at the top.  The TOOLS, ADD-ON menu showed the SWP Add On installed and ENABLED.
To get the ICON to appear here is what I did:
Right Click on top bar and a box appears with Navigation Bar, Bookmarks Bar, and mine showed Norton Tool Bar, then at the bottom is a choice: Customize.
Click on Customize and then click “Add New Tool Bar”,  enter HP Smart Web Printing into the New Toolbar window and click OK.
In my case this placed the HP SWP Icon into the list of ICONS in the main window.
I then dragged that HP SWP Icon to the top of the screen and placed it in the area just to the left of the address bar.  The ICON remained there and when I clicked on it, the SWP window appeared in the left of the screen and the feature works fine so far.
Hope this helps, HP certainly provided NO HELP in this case.

• When will Firefox Mobile be available for Android 1.5?

I have the new Motorola i1 (Boost Mobile) which runs version 1.5 of the Android operating system with no upgrade to 2.x in sight. Any idea when Firefox mobile might be available for it?

The minimum requirement is Android 2.0, I don't believe there are any plans to make a version for Android 1.5

• Whether firefox mobile is available for LG Optimus One (Android 2.2)

I am trying to install firefox mobile on my mobile LG Optimus One (having Android 2.2). But it is not getting installed.
Is it available for this device. If yes, what procedure should I follow to download it.
Thank you.

The mobile version of Firefox is dependent upon the processor being used. The LG Optimus One has an ARM 11 processor which uses the ARMv6 architecture. The mobile version of Firefox requires a processor that uses the ARMv7 architecture. There are experimental builds that may work on the LG Optimus One, for details see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android in particular the part about the ARMv6 experimental builds.

• Browsing Basics video has many more tabs on screen than my Mac Firefox shows (i.e. no Firefox tab, no bookmark tab, no new tab tab,no all tabs tab), so most features of Firefox are not available to me .

I'm a year into using a computer, and my Mac was set up by another family member who is no longer around.
Tonight I noticed the Firefox "getting started: tab and thought I might learn something. For starters, the screen on the Browsing Basics picture was so small as to be almost unreadable; I played parts of the video many times to catch what tab was being explained. It did not help that many of the tabs on the video were not on my Mac's Firefox screen.
Specifically, my screen has no Firefox tab (except at the top next to the Mac Apple logo), no bookmark tab to the right of the Home tab, no plus sign/new tab tab, no all tabs tab.
My screen also does not match the details on the sample screen that comes up when I first clicked on the Firefox "getting started" tab.
It would seem I need a new Firefox top section of my screen, but I just downloaded Firefox updates.......Thanks for any help!

I too just downloaded Firefox on my Mac and noticed that my screen did not match the video. The video's sample screen has been customized to show all the features you can add and use to make browsing easier, like adding all those tabs you and I don't have yet.
But first let me comment on how small the video is, with no way of expanding the video. Your mac can easily zoom in to make the video as big as you need it. Just hold down your ctrl key, place two fingers on your track pad and zoom in or out to the desired size. I use this feature so much, to read small text and watch video windows that are too small. Try it.
After you finish watching the "getting started video" just roll over the markers to make Firefox do what you need it to do. I however have the most of the tab features already from importing some of my settings from another browser so I can't tell you step by step on how to get the tabs you want. Just play around with it and I'm sure you'll begin to appreciate the speed and ease like I do.

• Says unable to connect? I have been using FIrefox for a while now, never had this problem, is FIrefox no longer available?

Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Hello<!-- XXX you may wish to edit this greeting, and other parts of the response so that it is personalised to the question asked.-->,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Installing Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u> See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. <!-- Starting in Firefox 31, the Firefox uninstaller no longer lets you remove user profile data.Ref: Bug 432017 and https://support.mozilla.org/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer/discuss/5279 [Fx31] Windows uninstaller will no longer offer the option to remove personal data -->
Please report back to say if this helped you!

• Firefox is not available in C:\Program Files and in Add/Remove Programs

I am trying to run an Oracle application which is currently installed in one of our user's PCs, but when we try to generate a report it would fail to do so as Mozilla Firefox is installed on the system and I believe it is set as the default browser. I tried to uninstall it as it is not required anymore, but to my shock I didn't find it in Add\Remove Programs list and also not in C:\Program Files. I tried installed Windows Clean-Up utility, but the application doesn't exist there either. I want to remove Mozilla completely, can someone please help?!! By the way, I also deleted the Mozilla files under the Application Data of all user accounts on that machine; still no luck.

I believe that it's a good idea to leave them be JUST in case they installed a dependency that a new application is using.
This isn't exactly likely but it could happen.
When I'm uninstalling applications I use a tool called
Revo Uninstaller  which finds files and registry entries that applications might leave behind.
Will your machine explode and Windows stop booting? Probably not.
Are these left-over files destroying your Hard Drive capacity? Again, Probably not.
Basically, I can't think of much of a reason to delete them so I think it's decent to leave them just in case, but again it probably wont do any damage. Running an third-party application like
CCleaner is also good practice and could likely delete some of the unwanted/unneeded files and crud like that.
Also, most application settings are usually present in the C:\Users\UserAccount\Application Data\ and not in the Program Files or Program Data.
Goodluck bud,
Any questions or concerns feel free to let me know.

• When will Firefox mobile be available for LG Optimus M?

My LG Optimus M apps market gives me the message, "The requested item could not be found" when I try to download mobile Firefox on my phone.

Mobile Firefox is not compatible with the LG Optimus M as it requires a newer type of processor. The LG Optimus M has a processor that supports ARMv6 architecture, but mobile Firefox requires a processor that supports ARMv7 architecture.
You may be able to run the experimental ARMv6 builds, for details see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android

• When will firefox mobile be available in Us?

I see the firefox phones for sale on ebay and want to buy one. Which carrier can I use it on?

This seems like the best place to deposit additional information about AT&T and ZTE Open US from Ebay.
<b>NOTE: AT&T told me directly that this phone is considered a smartphone, and as such requires a smartphone plan.</b>
AT&T has two prepaid GoPhone plans with data that will work with ZTE Open US, see official menu (zip code required).
# $50/month, Basic/quick messaging phone plan. ZTE Open US can be set to use only 2G EDGE network: Settings : Cellular & Data : Network operator : Network type. This plan is truly unlimited because it is considered slow enough to prevent excessive data usage.
# $60/month, Smartphone plan. By default, ZTE Open US will use high speed 3.5G HSPA network. This plan is limited to 2GB/month transit, extra 1GB for $10.
Technically speaking, the first plan is compatible with 3.5G HSPA network, but termination of service is likely to happen sooner than it would otherwise (using the phone with the first plan probably violates your agreement anyway).
The second plan is worth the extra $10; you can set the phone to 2G EDGE by default and reserve 3.5G HSPA for times when you really need it.
The Usage app is indispensable in preventing unexpected overages. It is included in Notifications pulldown, allowing for real time monitoring, so you can make sure it works.
# Launch an app that uses data.
# Pull down Notifications and watch Usage increase.
When using 2G EDGE, the icon in Status bar and Quick Access is E.
When using 3.5G HSPA, the icon is H.

• When will plugin for Roboform on Firefox 5 be available? Program useless without it

The plugin that enables the RoboForm toolbar is not compatible with Firefox 5 and was, therefore, disabled. It is not possible to use this password protection program without the toolbar

It appears the LogMeIn add-on was just updated. I installed "LogMeIn, Inc. Remote Access Plugin version 1.0.0.664" when I used the service today, then upgraded to Firefox 5. No compatibility objection was raised. I logged on to a remote PC and all seemed to work as usual.
