Firefox (3.5) compatibility in this forum?

Apologies for posting here, but I don't see a forum entry for the forum software itself and no mention of the issue elsewhere - and this is a software related board...
I get error messages when trying to login to the forums under native firefox.  I have tested that it works with IE or the relevant IE add-on and Google Chrome.  Perhaps if more people see this issue it could be fixed?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Certainly do - thanks for the quick response.  I don't come back to the forums that often these days - NM is just far too reliable :-)
Below the response I get when trying to log in. I have just included the error headers - I can PM the full error stack if needed.  I do use the "Secure Login" add-on for firefox, but I get the same issue when it's disabled.  I have the same issue from multiple computers - perhaps domain related therefore?
If I'm the only one with the problem, I have a workaround using IE Tabs from firefox.
Thanks again,
Simon T.

  • Firefox search plugin for this forum

    Hey!
    I made a Firefox search plugin for this forum:
    http://cip.uni-trier.de/zaplatynski/moz-search/
    I am just too lazy for the two clicks to get the search form!
    Note: The installation instructions apply just for the Uni Trier search plugins... I need there a redirection page.
    I hope it will be usefull for everyone. I plan to make one for the AUR too.
    So long,
    Marian
    P.S. If I get some time, I will make a nicer icon...

    Finally, I made it available:
    http://cip.uni-trier.de/zaplatynski/moz … linux.html
    Reviewed all search plugins by others and adapted them if needed.
    Please post any comments bugs. I will do some plugins for google in the next time.

  • First I tried to download Firefox 4 and was refused permission. Then I posted to this forum and received a confirmation link by e-mail, but the link failed.

    I downloaded Firefox 4, but when I tried to move it into the Applications folder, I was refused permission. I tried to post this problem to this forum and received a confirmation link by e-mail, but it failed: I got the message "Something is wrong."

    If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions to update then easiest is to trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Safari isn't evem smart enough to access this forum properly!

    Is anyone else as fed up as I am with Safari failing to work with certain sites? I have to always keep Firefox at the ready for those cases where Safari fails. To add insult to injury, _Safari even fails to log me onto this forum!!!!_ When I try to log in, it reports 'An Internal Server Error Has Occurred." So here I am using Firefox again, no problem. Anyone any idea of fixes or workarounds for Safari quirkiness?

    HI,
    For logging in to the forums. From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select: Show Cookies. Delete all Apple related cookies. Relaunch Safari and try logging in again.
    If you still have problems, open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
    Delete your your AppleID keychain.
    Relaunch Safari. Login here as usual with your user name and password. You will be prompted to save that data to a new keychain, click: Yes
    Do not try a clean install yet. Try trouble shooting first.

  • [SOLVED] Is it possible to view this forum in non-"Classic" mode?

    The reason I ask, is that I have a 24" screen & not the best eyesight, so I run 24 point fonts as default in Firefox.
    I have learned to scroll across code boxes using the arrow keys, which I have to do very often, though this is not really a big problem.
    If there was an option to put all poster details across the top of their posts, then we could have the full width of the page to read, as it is now, there is a LOT of empty space down the left hand side of the post content.
    I had a look in my Profile page for this forum, but could not find a way to make this choice, as I can on some other forums. (Hopefully I missed something?)
    I understand that perhaps this is beyond the capability of this forum software, which if so, is unfortunate.

    Over at the ostalk.org forum, I put my questions, & tjwoosta posted some code to use with Stylish, it made the left column much narrower but at the expense of the details.
    So I asked him if it was hard to place the details under the field headings (From: Registered: Posts:) & he gave me the following:
    @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
    @-moz-document domain("bbs.archlinux.org") {
    .postleft, .postfootleft {
    width: 80px !important;
    .postright, .postfootright {
    border-left: 80px solid !important;
    border-color: #f9f9f9 !important;
    Which I've modified by changing the two 80px numbers to 200px, & it is starting to look like their may be a solution here not far off, using Stylish.
    Users are just going to have to set the size of these two 80px numbers to suit their font size & screen resolution.  It is so easy to do.
    Also I've just learned that there may not be any need to incorporate TJ's code into Dark Grey, as you can run them both via Stylish simultaneously anyway.
    Just have to get rid of these white rectangles that can turn up below the email line & above that of the Online/Offline?

  • Does this forum suck for you too?

    I don't mean the content. I find these Flash forums very
    useful and helpful. It's the performance of the actual forum site
    that makes me increasingly want to avoid this place. Click any
    thread and it may or may not load, and when it does (often on the
    3rd or 4th attempt) it takes between 30 and 90 seconds to load. I
    note that many newcomers to this forum post the identical messages
    3 or 4 times, probably because the molasses-slow performance makes
    them worry their message didn't get posted. Am I the only one this
    is happening to? If not, has it gotten gradually worse and worse
    for you over the past couple weeks?
    It's very frustrating because I enjoy learning and
    contributing to the discussions here. I just want to find out if
    it's a problem for me alone.
    I'm using latest IE and Firefox on a clear, unshared 6MB
    broadband connection. No problems with any other forums on the web,
    just this one.

    I have noticed that the forum (and only this one for me) has
    been increasingly slow in the last day or two. Looks like it is
    time for them to do some pruning, heh. And as it seems, something
    seems to keep refreshing on this forum bout every 15 secs or so. If
    it is not just me, then that might be contributing to the problem.
    Anyways, back to hoping for an answer to the question I posted.
    And, btw, personally I stay away from using email clients for
    just about anything but an intranet, due to a large portion of
    viruses dedicated to mail clients....specially Microsoft made
    ones.

  • I want to update to 3.6.4 but don't want to risk the problems container.exe is causing that am reading in this forum.

    There are quite a few having problems related to container.exe due to updating to 3.6.4 as I see from this forum.
    I don't have video problems, never did, and sounds like if I update, it's going to start having problems..
    It is possible for ff to make a patch so that we can have a user friendly and safe disable (without system code?)

    I just don't want to update until this is stable..too risky..

    Also be aware that if you add a quiz to the project, that the drag and drop and quiz affect each other.
    In a way we have been cheated into thinking that is also a learning tool for repeated attempts. With a quiz in the project it does not work.
    I also tried it without the quiz. When learners now use it, the drag and drop will "hang" at times. EMBARRASING when a client phones you with a stuck learning session!!

  • Cookie problem with this forum?

    Today I am no longer able to connect with this forum with my Safari browser. All I receive in a page with the 6 categories and nothing else. Also, I am not able to log in. However, I can log in using Foxfire with all the topics correctly displayed. I suspect it must be a cookie problem and if that is so, I'm not sure where to go in Safari to delete cookies.

    Same problem is back after only one day. When using Safari (latest version), if I click on the following link...
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=218
    All I see is the Category headings (no latest posts) and I'm NOT automatically signed in. When I attempt to sign in, I then go the the "new user" data page. After signing in, I get very restrictive access to the forum.
    When I sign in with Firefox, everything is normal. Yesterday when I had this problem, I erases the cookies from Safari and everything returned to normal. I hate to have to erase my cookies everyday to get access here as I prefer to use Safari.

  • Preloader freezes randomly - Problem reported by several users in this forum.

    I made an animation on the Edge CC 2014.1 of the company I work for, and I was always testing locally, and everything was going very well. When I finished the animation and decided to upload to the server, I realized after making test with different browsers (Chrome, Safari, IE, Firefox, etc.), the animation freezes in preloader randomly. When I click "refresh" the animation loads normally, most of the time. : /
    Here is the link so they can check on their own: http://www.mambembe.com/infos/ebola/index.html
    As you can see, seems to have a problem that prevents the preloader to realize that the files already loaded, and that he should start the animation.
    I thought I might be doing something wrong at the time of publishing, so I decided to try all possible combinations in exporting, but I got the same result.
    After trying to solve on my own, I decided to seek help in the forums. I was suprise and confused to realize that many members, including this forum report the same problem, without getting any official or definitive answer about the case.
    I come here, try to get a help to me, and the others who are having the same problem. In the meantime I will look for other similar programs to try to replace the Edge. It's unfortunate since I chose to use the Edge to trust in Adobe programs and to working with them for years. I hope not disappoint and get me to continue my work using the Edge which is a great tool, except when you need to publish.
    Sorry for my English. I hope it was clear and I count on the support of other members with the same problem. We need everyone to report what is happening, so that the adobe team can help us. I invite you to post to your mistakes here like this post.
    Thank you.

    He's one more with the same issue:
    I have a 15 sec Edge animation that is located at the top of my home page. Sometimes only the pre-loader is displayed with no animation. The animation eventually runs if the page is refreshed after it loads. The animation itself is pretty light weight with mostly text and svg graphics.
    The animation is published via the Animate Deployment Package. Currently, edge.5.0.1.min.js is running on Adobe CDN. Publishing using the "Web" method did work because the pre-loader wouldn't display at all.
    The animation runs fine once files are downloaded to the browser.
    You can view the animation (if you do a reload after page load) at: http://pictureyourbook.com/

  • Do the Adobe Gods read this forum? ( sorry to blaspheme)

    Self help is fine but I wonder if Adobe read the posts on this forum. There does not yet seem to be an official response to the flash player unresponsive plugin issue that is looming as REAL issue. Flash player is such an integral part of the web that I am amazed that there has not been a fairly rapid response from those who produce such wonderful products. I know we shouldn't whinge because its free but can someone please (bow, scrape, grovel) from Adobe heaven please try to address this very frustrating issue?

    The Flash Player developers regularly visit this forum, and they do answer questions that are answerable.
    I do believe you that you have a problem with Flash Player, and yes, many other users have posted similar problems.
    The problem that Adobe has is that they cannot reproduce it.  I cannot reproduce it.  Software problems are very difficult to diagnose if they cannot be reproduced.
    I remember one user who posted one or two years ago that he would always get Flash Player hung up or not responding when he has more than 2,500 Flash Player tabs open on Firefox.  Well, that is certainly not something I am going to try and reproduce.
    If you can tell what exact steps lead to your problem, maybe then the Adobe engineering team will be able to reproduce it.

  • How i can stop Firefox to check compatibility ?

    i have two version of Firefox and have two different problem that when i close one and open another then i found that they spent some second on checking compatibility of plugins so if i can stop them to check compatibility then how i can.
    second thing is that are i can install plugin for separate version. like a version of Firefox have support this version of plugin and it's probably not sure that same version of plugin support in another version of Firefox.
    so their is two queries i have about Firefox.
    How i can stop Firefox to check compatibility of plugin everytime when i open them.
    How i can install plugin in Firefox separately then their is no need to install them again when i open another version of Firefox

    You need to use separate profile folders for each version. Firefox will perform a compatibility check and recreate all cache files if you switch versions.
    Create a new profile exclusively for each Firefox version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch each Firefox version with its own profile.
    See these mozillaZine KB articles for information:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Shortcut_to_a_specific_profile
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_multiple_profiles_-_Firefox
    Do you mean plugins (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) or extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) ?
    Extensions can easily be installed if you use separate profiles. Firefox 4 will also recognize plugins that you install in the plugins folder in the[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], but you need to create that folder yourself and copy the plugins files to it.
