Firefox 3.5 damn slow under KDE 4.2

Hi Folks,
I'm using Firefox 3.5 from extra and it is so damn slow under KDE 4.2.4, compositing enabled (Intel GFX, Driver version xf86-video-intel 2.8.0 from AUR, KMS on, Kernel 2.6.30).
Furthermore I installed "extra/gtk-qt-engine 1.1-1" to get a good integration into the look&feel of KDE.
The application itself has a normal performance, but the menus are very laggy.
In addition to gtk-qt-engine I've tried "community/gtk-kde4", but that seemed to make things even worse
I think that those gtk-qt engines are to blame, but I don't know where to search for issues/problems.
Another thing is: If I say "Use my KDE style/fonts in GTK Applications" in KDE system settings dialog, Firefox looks as follows
Whats happening here?
Is there any known trick, to get a decent performance in Firefox 3.5 under KDE 4.2?

I just use QTCURVE as a theme, it has a native KDE3, KDE4 and GTK theme giving a constant look all around plus it is better looking then oxygen imho (especially when set to AQUA).

about performance, did you disable the Ipv6 stuff in about:config? when i used FF i noticed ipv6 dns was on by default and really slowing it down. I since switched to Opera10 which is *way* faster and has a native QT4 build instead of FF's GTK.

I have other mac's on my home network that are still running Snow Leopard and the are performing well. I wanted to use the iCloud so I upgraded and instantly started experiencing the slow down, to the point of ridiculousness. Other function are mixed some normal speed, others a day on the beach with the spinning ball. Firefox is at full speed, good thought, haven't checked Chrome yet.
Last night and hooked into a projection unit that adjusted my screen resolution for a presentation and after the event my Mac reset back to the normal settings and Safari launched and is running normal speeds so far. In the past there have been issues with performance speeds and certain resolutions, has anyone had similar luck or is this a fluke?

XGL/Beryl - Damn slow and unstable

Hi,
I know, Beryl is quite unstable, but seems it works for so many guys, why not for me?

I have a Radeon 9600 and get KDE to work with XGL actually, but when I try to configure Beryl, the manager is so damn slow. And also the speed in general is very slow and after a while it crashes completely.
I have a Centrino 1.5GHz. This is not enough for the cool effects??
Im using fglrx btw. This is important?
Sorry if I ask for stupid "unstable-support", but I really want to know if its a stability problem of the software or if I made a mistake in my configuration.

EDIT: When I use XGL as a session on KDE-Startup, the screen is white only and my notebook crashes (mouse still works)

hey guys appreciate the help.. firefox is running real slow lately.. like loading pages takes a good 2 minutes compared to i.e or safari loading in under 2 seconds
i dont have many addons, just an extended status bar and thats pretty much it
what can i do other then just reinstalling ??

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

Since V5 thru v6 and now v7 firefox has been getting slower & slower particularly at logon and is now virtually useless.
IE9 is working Ok.
Problem is occurring on two different computers.
Have doe necessary maintenance clearing cache, etc and on computer running registry mechanic, win Optimiser * and norton computer maintenance regularly
Any suggestions appreciated?

WIndows can't find a better one than the installed LSI Conformed 1394 Hostcontroller

Read and follow the Bootcamp Installation instructions that you were offered to view when you ran Bootcamp Assistant.
Run Bootcamp Assistant again and select the option to download the Bootcamp Support software. Follow the instructions. Then boot into Windows and install the Windows Support software you downloaded and saved.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

RPTIME01 ( PT60 ) damn slow .... Each job taking 6 hours to run

         We have are on SAP 4.7 and CE in place. Time evaluation is damn slow. Im clueless from where to start. Its like finding a needle in haystack.
I came across the following OSS note; we implemented it but no change. Each job is taking like 6 to 7 hours .

When you process a large number of persons using the RPTIME01 time evaluation driver, the runtime is excessive, and the system may terminate the program with the short dump TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED.

The error occurs if the RPTIME01 program tries to allocate memory space that is no longer available. Due to this error, the application program retains a copy of specific data for each processed personnel number (contract) in the working memory, even though this data is no longer required after it has completed the time evaluation of a person.
Solution
The error has been corrected, and the solution is delivered by Support Package. You can also implement an advance correction. It is also possible to optimize the runtime of RPTIME01 by adjusting the T77s0 parameters LDB (group) and PCEPS (semantic abbreviation)). We have updated the support pack to 73 and program RPCS0000 is giving error Invalid SPOOL parameters . I created the variant in PT60 , and running 20 jobs . it is keep giving error .

Note that the correction instructions must only be implemented if you have already imported the Support Packages that eliminate the error described in this note. The correction instructions do NOT eliminate the problem of unnecessary access to TPRI_PAR.

Firefox 21 and Firefox 22 running on Windows 7 have been reported to take a long time to "wake up" from sleep. I realize hibernation is different than sleep, but... this is the closest match for your description.
Some users have reported that this problem is resolved in Firefox 23 (currently in beta). Others have had inconsistent luck with minimizing Firefox before letting Windows sleep and other measures.

The fact that this just started recently suggests perhaps it is related to another program or update, but I don't think anyone has confirmed the exact interaction that causes the problem.

VI server runs slower under LV 7

Has anyone noticed VI server running slower under LabView 7 than 6.1?
I use a "Call By Reference Node" to programatically run a VI. This call seems to take at least a factor of three longer in LV 7 than 6.1. The code in each LV version is exactly the same.

Yes,
I have noticed that some of the functions of the VI Server as well as particular property nodes are a lot slower in LabVIEW 7 vs. LabVIEW 6. For instance, if you get the caption labels from a nested control (inside a cluster or array) it will take significantly longer than a regular control on the front panel. The further a control is buried, the longer it takes. I am not sure how to solve the problem though.

Since the last automatic update (approx. one week ago) my Firefox has been running slow as molasses and I keep getting a "refresh" box popping up when the pages get hung up (very often)
What can I do to correct this? I clean my cache out at least once daily - most days more. Virus scan says I'm clear of viruses - Glary Utilities tells me that all changes to my registry have been fixed (sneaky apps trying to get in) I'm going crazy because I am used to my FF being fast! HELP!!!

If you have problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.

Recently switched back to using Firefox as I wasn't finding the extensions I like for Chrome only to discover that Firefox is running significantly slower by comparison. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling and it hasn't helped.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Wi-Fi super slow under Yosemite

I have had Time Machine trying to sync (20 Go) for 3 days now, Wi-Fi is incredibly slow under Yosemite ! It would not even take an hour under Mavericks... Anyone experiencing Wi-Fi issues ? Any fix ?

If you do not plan to take that new mini back to work, then you might consider removing and creating a new Wi-Fi service in Network Preferences. Otherwise, create specific location settings. The current settings may have retained DNS/Proxy information pertinent to your office, but contrary to responsive DNS through your home ISP.
