Firefox 3.6.13: bad display on Windows 7, all Web pages

Every Web site I visit on my new Windows 7x64 Ultimate system is missing most or all of its background and other colors.

I also notice while looking at a web page, the pinned tabs to the left of the bar are constantly reloading for some reason, The green circle starts going round and round for no reason even though the tab is not being viewed. Both problems seem to have started after the last software update.

  • Help!!! How to make quicktime plugin do not display on top of the web page?

Any one knows how to make quicktime plugin do not display on top of the web page??? I've tried to change the zIndex property using javascript, but it doesn't work.
Because we have some widgets which are required to be moved to anywhere on the page, we use iframe to implement that, so it can display on top of quicktime plugin, but the plugin flickers sometimes when we do some operation on the widget which is on top of it.
Anyone can helps me? Thanks in advance!!!

Check the docs. Trent is usually very thorough in his
    instructions.
Hint: I haven't studied it but it probably involves modifying
    one of DW's
    built-in Behaviors.

  • I am using Windows 7 on my desk top computer. The top area of the desk top is visible at the top of my Mozilla Firefox browser and all web pages. It is opaque

The web pages do not completely fill the screen at the top of my computer screen as I can see the top of my desk top page. It is opaque but still visible. I would like to have the entire screen (the bookmarks still visible along the side, of course) and not see the background of the desk top. Thank you.

  • Firefox sporadically won't display flash embedded within a web page.

I have Fiorefox 28.0, running on a Mac with Mavericks 10.9.2. Sporadically, Firefox won't display an embedded flash video. I tried running Firefox in Safe Mode (all add-ons disabled). Same thing occurs - won't display the embedded flash on some webpages.
Here is an example webpage in which this problem occurs:
    http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/nbcs-jimmy-fallon-and-seth-meyers-welcome-stephen-colbert-to-cbs-video/
I couldn't determine how to attach a file of a screen grab or I would have done so.
    Thanks.

I can't tell how far the player gets in loading. All I see is a blank white block of space where the player would normally be loaded. I used the term 'embedded' as that seemed the correct term to use. If incorrect, that's only due to my unfamiliarity with the correct terminology of having a flash video within a web page. BTW, I neglected to mention that the same page that Firefox has problems with is displayed fine in Safari. Screen grab attached showing blank space where Safari displays a functional plug-in.

  • How can I get Firefox to display 'preview in browser' Dreamweaver Web-page files?

I chose Firefox as the primary browser for Adobe Dreamweaver's 'Preview in Browser' to display Web pages as I develop them. '''Firefox used to work just fine'''. Recently, however, when choosing Firefox to Preview in DW, FF merely opens to my home page. Once opened, FF will not accept/preview any files from Dreamweaver, regardless of how many times I choose to Preview. Safari and others - when selected as the preview browser - display them perfectly.

Have you tried the update to Fast Dial, version 4.2.1 or later? It should override the built-in new tab page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fast-dial-5721/ ''(Note: I haven't tested it myself)''
If you are using a similar add-on that isn't the same "Fast Dial", which one is it?

    REPLY TO ANSWERS:
yes, i use blur and a couple of other security and ad blocker add-ons.
actually, just now, it was the "firefox help" screen that always displays the code.
based on info provided by cor-el, i started disabling add-ons... I use zonealarm firewall and antivirus which installs its own toolbar... when i disabled blur & other add-ons in turn, the problem continued... when i disabled the zonealarm toolbar, the problem stopped.
so im going to surmise that its the zonealarm toolbar causing the problem... ill uninstall it
great product in firefox... been using it for years... like everything about it... and now the support too!
thank you for the help.... cheers!!

  • Encrypted Alert (21) - Windows 7 client web page login falure

    Hello community,
I have a challenge for you.  This is a very odd issue I am having.
Let me outline my basic environment. I have a Windows 2003 Server which serves as the DHCP with a (2-day lease), Windows 7 Clients (fully patched) running IE 11 (fully patched), and a SonicWALL NSA 2400 firewall running the latest firmware 5.8.17xx (SSL
    controls are not enabled).
Symptoms: From the Win7 client I open a specific secure web page https:// and after I enter my user name and password I get a server side message “cannot connect to our authentication server”.
I called the web site support and they said the message will display if the client trying to connect to the remote server for authentication does not use port 4000.
I can try to login over and over again but I always get the same message.
I can see by using the NETSTAT command that port 4000 is being opened on the client but the connection always fails.
After running WireShark I discovered that just after the [Login] button is clicked the SSL3.1/TLSv1.2 TCP session is started with the Client and Server saying their respective Hello’s, key exchanges, and cipher change but just after that I get a transmission,
from the server side, of “Encryption Alert” (21) and then a [FIN] packet which closes the session.
This is when the “cannot connect to our authentication server” message pops since the session has a fatal error decrypting the packet.
After hours of trial and error, plus reading online, I found I have the option to peer inside these encrypted packets to maybe see more information about the problem with the “bad” packet.
I’m not sure what key to use to put into the SSL preferences in WireShark.
I have tried many things to find a workaround and have found only one way that works consistently.
I have about 10 clients that login each day and the problem in intermittent.
Normally 1 or 2 clients will have the problem each day; it’s a crap shoot that it will happen to anyone.
Well, at least I have not found a pattern yet if there is one.
Temporary Fix: After the client web page login fails, I can run the following commands.
I run the first command to set a static IP and then login to the web site and it suddenly works.
I then log out of the web site and I run the second command to get the client back to a dynamic IP.
I login to the web page again the login works.  After a random number of days go by the problem comes back and I have to run this temporary fix again.
    (1)
    netsh int ip set address "Local Area Connection" static {ip address} {ip mask} {default gw}
    netsh int ip set address "Local Area Connection" dns {ip address}
    (2)
netsh int ip set address "Local Area Connection" dhcp
Just renewing the IP address from DHCP will not do the trick; I have to set it static first.
Any ideas on what may be happening during the Static IP setting that would fix this?
I know that Microsoft just recently patched the SCHANNEL file(s) in November.
I started seeing this issue on December 15th.
I’m currently assuming that there is a defective packet because according to MSDN and RFC tables the “Encrypted Alert” 21 code means
decryption_failed – “Decryption of a TLSCiphertext record is decrypted in an invalid way: either it was not an even multiple of the block length or its padding values, when checked, were not correct. This message is always fatal.”
I really appreciate and insight any may have on how this process works and what may be happening.
    - Dr. Dig

    MeipoXu,
Thanks for the reply and fantastic link to that detail.  I am seeing events on many workstations, and not just the ones with this problem.  The event ID is 36887 and the message is “The following fatal alert was received: 40”.  I did some
research on this error and it appears that it is related to the MS kb-2992611 patch.  Apparently the patch, which we did deploy back in December, has caused a number of schannel problems, while trying to fix some.  Our issue started on 12/15/14.
There's an article on ZDnet (search for "Microsoft Warns of problems with Schannel security update") where it explains what is happening since the patch.
I have done two things to fix it, without removing the MS-patch.
The one manual fix I mentioned in my first post and I can also uncheck the 3.0 SSL/1.2 TLS in my IE browser.
In fact I went back to SSL 2.0 / TLS 1.0 and have not had any problems for 6 days now.
I am going to set a PC back to the “problem” settings to confirm 1.2 TLS is my problem. I’ll report back my findings for others.
The one thing to note is that we login to multiple secure sites and only one has the issue.
I suspect the other side has done, or not done, something to make the issue happen with my settings.

  • Google browser and others show all web page on netbook but firefox wont i have to scrool why can i change settings on firefos to help this problem

all other web browsers when i use on my net book show full web page but with Firefox i have to scroll side ways cant see full width of page sometimes Firefox will show full page but this is not often are the settings in Firefox to help this problem i have the latest version of Firefox 4.0.1

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Links now connect with a version of Firefox showing 2 top red bars, and does not load web pages correctly.

When links are shown to a web page on a document a different version of Firefox appears that has a double line of red rows at the top, and the desired page doesn`t load. To get the required page I need to highlight the link and paste it into my usual search page.

  • Firefox takes minutes to load upon starting up and changing web pages

When I open firefox in Windows Vista, it takes minutes(sometimes up to ten) to start up.Once firefox has loaded and I go to visit another web page, it takes minutes to load that web page. I downloaded Firefox 3.6.7 when it first came out, and it just recently started doing this. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, but this did not work. It is not a problem with my internet connection or operating system, because internet explorer and safari only takes seconds to load up and load web pages. I have run various scans to see if it was a virus or a bug, but nothing came up. How do I fix this, because using Internet Explorer is really getting on my nerves?

  • When restarting firefox after a crash, how do I stop it from re-opening all web pages that were open at the time of the crash?

When firefox crashes, or if it hangs and I have to kill it, then when I go to restart it, it tries to re-open all pages that were open at the time it crashed or was killed. This is incredibly annoying, especially if one of the visited pages caused the crash or hang. It is also really annoying if some of the web pages happened to require passwords to log in, from multiple sites. In my case this occurs as I am frequently logged into multiple online educational web sites like ucsc-extension.edu and berkleemusic.com. In the login case you get multiple login prompt pop-ups with no way to correlate which pop-up goes with which web page. If there are a lot of them then it's a hopeless mess. This behavior is something that I never ever want and it infuriates me that not only is it the default behavior, it is something that there seems to be no way to turn off, at least via the configuration menus. Am I wrong? Is there a way to turn this off? If not can somebody either make it configurable or get rid if this fantastically idiotic behavior?
I suspect there's a command line option for this but on my Mac (or most systems these days) it's sort of "unnatural" to be starting programs like browsers by means other than a provided program start-up icon, which gives you no choice about the command line options.
Besides, as a default behavior the current behavior is something I cannot conceive of ever wanting. I would rather have a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

    You can try this.
In the address bar type about:config you will be warned that this is dangerous.
    Search for browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash
Double click on true to toggle it to false.
    Exit the page.
Firefox will now NOT try to reload websites after a crash.

  • When I try to open a website, a dialog bok opens heading "Opening Serch". I t asks 'What should Firefox do with this file?' instead of opening that web page.
