Firefox 3.6.13 Update will not update and install plugins or extensions. It will prompt for a restart every time, instally nothing. Is there a fix?

Plugins such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Silverlight will show as needing an update on Plugin Check (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/) but every time it downloads, installs, and restarts Firefox, the program is not updated.
This error also occurs when updating Addons. They'll be listed as updated awaiting a Firefox restart, but every Firefox restart does not fix the problem. If I go to uninstall an Addon, it'll say it's ready to uninstall pending restart, but after a restart it is still installed.

I had the same problem, until I did some research. I uninstalled firefox 3.6.13, and reinstalled firefox 3.6.12. When I did some research, I found that the quicktime plugin had been blocklisted. I disabled the quicktime plugin, updated to firefox 3.6.13, and the problem was gone. My add-on window doesn't freeze up anymore either.

Please follow the below steps to remove the error message of "You have been signed out".
          1: Open Activity monitor from spotlight and end all Adobe related processes. You may find processes like AAMupdater, AAMupdater notifier, Adobe Crash demon process.
          2: Open a Finder window, select Go>Go to folder option, type in ~/Library and hit enter.
                         (Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE)
          3: Now navigate to Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/.. folder.
          4: Delete opm file under OOBE.
          5: Rename OOBE to OOBEold.
          6: Check if you have AAMupdater in the same location.
          7: Please rename it to AAMupdaterold.
          8: Click on gear icon on Creative Cloud desktop app and choose Quit Creative Cloud.
          9: Then launch it, sign-in and click on Apps tab.
The error message will be removed.

I'm having a very similar issue, paired with iTunes not being able to get online.
iTunes shows up in processes and then hangs at 17,000 K or so -- sometimes it will start up, but that (if it occurs) is a delay of literal hours.
Pretty meticulously went through all the 'cannot connect' trouble shooting, and have uninstalled, restarted, and then reinstalled every piece of apple software; issue is just as firm. Starting in safe mode or admin mode don't fix it; signing in as a different user doesn't fix it.

I installed Firefox today but it will not open and the icon on the taskbar will not close and I cannot uninstall it and the helper app does not work either?

I have tried everything that I know to uninstall the new version of Firefox. I also installed Aurora beta and it had the same behavior and I was able to uninstall that. I cannot open a ff browser to work on it using much of your support information. I click on icon but it does not start on the desktop but task manager shows it as running. I have to end task in task manager to close it. I can't uninstall it and have tried system restore but that also doesn't work because of another issue with my antivirus program.

BUG: User Password Will Not Update

Issue:
When connecting to my work WiFi we use our standard domain username and password. This has been working for months now but yesterday my domain password expired. I set up an new one as normal and have been using it without any issue on my workstation.
When i went to use the wifi on my iphone (for example connecting to the app store) it detects that the password is incorrect and asks for a new password. this is pretty standard.
how ever no matter what i do it will not accept my new password, it will keep on prompting me to enter a password. I have entered my new password in about 20 times now so i seriously doubt i could have entered it incorrectly that many times when the same one works on my workstation.
What it looks like it is doing is it prompting for the password every time it attempts to retrieve any info over the wifi because it does load a few things after i enter the password. But as soon as i try quit the app store and reopen it asks for the password again.
Work Around:
Open Settings, Wi-Fi, Connection and retype the password. This will prevent the prompt from displaying again. So it would appear that this setting is not being updated when the incorrect password prompt is being displayed

try going into the wi-fi network and have the iPhone "forget the network" and then add the network again or settings> general> reset> reset network settings and the iPhone will remove any old passwords for the wi-fi network

I have windows (crap) seven and internet explorer. When I try to access movies or tv shows, I'm always asked to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. When I check the programs list, it indicates that Adobe Flash Player Active X is installed. I have uninstalled adobe and reinstalled it several times. Firefox problems - Can't open from Downloads - Can't print - FF will not update and more and more...

I've been having several problems with Firefox, to the point that I almost can't use it anymore. In no particular order, they include:
1. When I download something, 'Downloads' opens. When a d/l finishes I used to be able to run an install or open an image from there, but now I get this error message,
Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
...but I can go to my Downloads directory and run or open it from there.
2. If I go to File > Print or File > Print Preview, I get this
Printing Error:
"Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer. Do you want to install a printer now?"
and if I click yes, i get this,
"Operation could not be completed."
3. Firefox will not update itself. I go to About, it downloads the new update, and I click the Apply Update button. Firefox closes, and nothing happens. A few minutes later I click to run it, and it opens with a 'Software Update' window that says,
Update Failed
"The partial update could not be applied. Firefox will try again by downloading a complete Update"
...and that does not work.
I download the new version, and when trying to run it from Downloads, I get the error (as in #1 above):
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
When I go to the folder it's in and run it from there, it installs, but the problems persist.
4. I go to Help|Troubleshooting Information, and clicking the Reset Firefox button only closes Firefox. Clicking the Show Folder button doesn't do anything.
5. I used to be able to drag a url to the desktop, a folder or even a email, but now all I get the the O with a / through it.
6. I also used to be able to, when I click Browse on a site to upload a jpg or a gif, I could right click the file and open it in a photo viewing program (Irfanview or Paint), and now I get
"Windows cannot access the specified drive, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I've created a new profile and it makes no difference.
I've disabled all add-ons and it makes no difference (I have to disable them manually).
The problems are there for different user accounts in Windows.
I've uninstalled Firefox, and removed the profile - rebooted and reinstalled it, but the problems persist.
What more do I have to do more to completely uninstall it?
I've kinda saved myself by using Firefox Portable, which I'm running from it's own directory. It runs as it should, but I'd prefer not to have to use it.
If i can't fix it, I'd like to completely uninstall Firefox, and just install it new and have it work properly. I have no (or only occasional minor) problems with Firefox on other computers. This computer is Win XP, fully updated

For the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin you might need to update RealPlayer or use its options dialog to turn off the recording/downloading feature in order to remove this one.

I'd recommend you delete the URL to your homepage which is causing the problem via Tools | Options | General and then go to the MSN homepage again and click the button "Use Current Page".
MSN may have changed the coding in the URL which is causing Firefox to load an outdated page with your current settings.
