Firefox 3.6.14 update won't allow pages with ads to load under XP Pro SP3
web pages with ads hang on loading and never complete. Firefox stops responding and has to be killed through Task Manager. This happened after I updated to 3.6.14 this morning. Pages without ads, e.g., Google Calendar, Google News, etc. are fine. I re-booted my computer, looked at extensions and cleaned that up to no avail. This has rendered 3.6.14 unusable. HELP!
I downloaded a new firefox installation and installed over the old one.
It fixed the error.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Firefox 6.0.1 update won't recognize the home page which uses a password access which has been saved into 6.0.1. The security shows permissions for the web site but doesn't recognize that I've been accessing the web page every day since I updated to 6.0.1. After having a nightmare since first day of version 6.0.0 and still no fix after 6.0.1, even after Apple requested the files... You fixed my problem... Checked for duplicate fonts and found about 5, selected "Resolve Duplicates" and everything great, even with old projects... You should work for Apple!

1) The first and biggest culprit we found to be causing problems is with font issues. In order to alleviate this problem, open Font Book and make sure all the Fonts that are turned on have no dots next to them. If they do then select them and select "Resolve Duplicates" from the Edit menu. If you are using a different font manager then use whatever tool is available to make sure no duplicate fonts are loaded. iDVD 6 is very sensitive to this.

Am replacing airport extreme with Time Machine and want to upgrade from Tiger to Snow leopard. Am told I should manually back up into T Machine before OS update but set up utility won't allow anything with OS below 10.5 and I'm 10.4.11. What to do?
I think you mean you are replacing your Airport Extreme with a Time Capsule. Time Machine is software integrated into OS X 10.5 & 10.6 used to automatically backup a system to an external HD. Time Capsule is an Airport Extreme that has a hard disk integrated into it that can be used for storage or as a Time Machine backup drive.
Because you are currently on Tiger 10.4.x you can backup to a external HD using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. Having a backup is very wise before doing any major system update. After you have created the backup and have successfully upgraded to Snow Leopard you can still use the external HD for many things. The strategy I'd recommend is to use the new Time Capsule as your Time Machine backup and then use the external HD as backup using SuperDuper or CCC. Redundant backups is wise because backups can (and do) fail too! In addition both SD and CCC are bootable clones, this is useful in that if your internal HD crashes you can boot from a cloned drive and continue working until the internal HD is replaced.

What Mac model do you have? You might be able to upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5.
Even browsers for Tiger 10.4 will get the update message.
You could try a newer browser than Safari, which is obsolete, by downloading Firefox v2.0.0.20 at http://www.oldapps.com/mac/firefox.php

Firefox always takes a minute and a half or more to start from cold under XP Pro SP3, and often fifteen seconds or more on subsequent starts. No other browser takes anything like as long. It is quicker under Win 7, starting in 4.3 secs., but this machine has very little software, and is virtually new. I keep the startup files in msconfig as small as possible.
I had the same problem tried all the tips, from customizing ff settings to add-ons cleaning...
Firefox taked minimum 30 seconds to start.
My problem was my AV, Kaspersky 9.0.0.736
I put
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
and
C:\Documents and Settings\Lolo\Application Data\Mozilla\
in trusted zone.
Now he starts in 3 seconds.

I regret agreeing to download Firefox 3.6.10 update, as it is somehow corrupted, and will not load when I restart. Subsequently, every time I start Firefox, it warns "Update Ready to Install", then when I don't restart (if I restart, it won't load) it exits, and I have to start Firefox a second time. Then it works without the warning, but when I exit and start Firefox again, the warning returns and the cycle repeats. This is such a nuisance I have gone back (reluctantly) to Explorer. Is there anyway for me to get rid of this corrupted update and go back to before I downloaded the fateful update?

Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Add/Remove Programs. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help surface innocent sounding bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Also, could you check whether Firefox has a non-standard '''connection setting'''? You can do that here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default "Use system proxy settings" should piggyback on your Windows/IE "LAN" settings. But you can try "No proxy" to see whether that makes any difference.

Since the most recent update, every time I open Firefox, it loads to the last page I was on. I prefer a blank page to be loaded. I have this correctly marked in the options, and I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the program. Is there a fix for this?

Firefox 3.6.10 update won't install and keeps crashing over and over.
My Firefox downloaded and installed the 3.6.10 update. After restarting it is trying to install the update, but then can't so it crashes/quits. Then it trys to start again and can't install then crash/quit. I'm stuck in a loop. Same thing in Safe Mode. I cannot even use Firefox at this point. Not sure if its related but I started having Flash problems on the 3.6.9 update.
Ff 3.6.10 is the worst ever piece of software that I have put my hand on for many many years. It is irresponsible of the ff folks to have released this without minimal testing.
In my case the installer asked me to reboot the system at the end of installation. and I did. After that in every occasion that I click the ff icon it tells me: Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of firefox. Do you want to reboot now? If you say no, it just dies away without any joy. Simply no internet.... if you say it reboots, and clicking on the ff icon after the reboot pops up the same message: Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous....
The painful thing is that the uninstallation via the control Panle's "add and remove programs" also shamelessly pops up the same message with the same never-ending-rebooting process:Your comupter must be restarted to complete....
This is the worst piece of crap I have ever seen.

when i visit a site called clubforeplay.com it won't let me view any of my friends profiles. when i try to navigate away firefox does not respond. when i close out of firefox and try to reopen it. i get nothing. i have to physically go into the task manager and end the firefox.exe process manually before i can go back. i have tried to uninstall and then reinstall firefox with no luck. it is starting to affect my firefox in different websites

I've downloaded the new iTunes update but I can't seem to do a drag and drop with playlists from my PC/mac onto my external Apple devices (2x iPads, iPod and my iPhone)

I can include songs onto a device but only one at a time wheras I need to drag the whole playlist...No, I haven't had any solution to this problem. None of the myriad of possible solutions work. can someone please help me. my grandson accidently locked his iphone. i have try to reconnect it with itunes in order to restore it. You have to put the phone into recovery mode before you can restore it. First, turn the phone off. Second, while holding down the home button, connect the phone to the computer, and keep holding down the home button until you see the iTunes logo on the face of the phone (this is recovery mode). Next you should see a message on iTunes on your computer say something like "in order to use this phone you have to restore it from recovery mode.." This will allow you to access your phone! Hope this helps.

Firefox just upgraded itself to 18.0.1 on my iMac (OSX 10.7.5, Lion)
I have been using " Synchronize! Pro " for ten years to synch (or Backup) my iMac to my three laptops.
The Laptops are all PPC (non-Intel) iBooks of various vintages, running OS X 10.5.8 and 10.4.11.
The synchs ran fine until yesterday, when FF 18.0.1 arrived
Synchronize! Pro synchronized the drnpcf9j.default folder in the Firefox's profiles folder from the pre-18.0.1 version to the same folder in the three PPC laptops running FF 3.6.24 and 3.6.28.
Now, with the upgrade to ver. 18.0.1, it won't synch. The bookmarks are now located in a folder named "Profiles" which contains two new folders , neither of them named the old "drnpcf9j.default" .
How can I synch (or back-up) my new Profiles or bookmarks to the three older iBooks)
The Firefox synch won't work because the older browsers don't have a synch setup in the "Tools" menu.
Suggestions dearly welcome.
