Boot Camp won't Download windows

Hi,
So I need to download Windows on my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to use a couple of programs.
The version of Windows that I end up with isn't a primary concern.
When I open Boot Camp, I keep getting the same error - "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update Server"
I've been trying this all day - any ideas?!

you need 2 things, a Win ISO and the Win drivers from Apple
Win ISO, they are available online just depends on what version you need but you will NEED a product key to activate the OS

A105 S4254 won't download windows SP2

I recently had to wipe my hard drive because of a virus. I don't have recovery disks, so I had to install windows on my own. Now the computer will not install windows Service Pack 2. It has installed other minor updates, but freezes while checking my product key. Is this a computer problem or a problem with my copy of windows? And how can I go about fixing it?

which product key did you use when you installed? the one on the machine or one that came with the disk?
how are you trying to do the update? what program or tool? it is possible that you're stuck while it is trying to download the latest WGA tool...

Firefox 6 (& 7.0.1) download window is not showing on multiple monitors set up

I have a dual monitor setup - Macbook Pro screen as secondary and an external monitor as primary screen.
I have been running Firefox 3.6.x without any problem.
Only just updated to Firefox 6 and the problem appear - download window does not show up.

Just downloaded and want to see whether FF 7.0.1 would be any diferent, but nop. The problem still exist even the hardware accelaration is switched off as some users had suggested. Frustrating really...

Firefox "fix won't download. dowload window keeps running - for hours. Help!

I'm running on Firefox 6.0.2. Firefox sent a (pop-up) download window saying Firefox recommends downloading a fix immediately. I clicked on it, window said downloading, ran for several hours until I closed it, unfinished. Trouble for me?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

The Downloads window doesn't display information since the last Firefox update

I had to register a new help account just to get here.
Your broser has been fucking up like crazy since the last update. I have been having nothing but problems logging into multiple sites. Sites would log me out randomly, then I wouldn';t be able to log back in. I tried to make an account on a new site and had to try 11 damn times before it went through. and just now, when I tried to ask a troubleshooting question, my username and password wouldn't work. So I sent a password reset request. Nothing happened. I sent at least FIVE password reset requests. None of them has gone through. When I tried to enter a different username, thinking maybe that was the problem, as soon as I re-typed it and clicked anywhere outside the name space, it'd revert to the name that was previously there. What the hell!?
I haven't even gotten to the problem I originally wanted to contact you about!
The downloads window no longer works. I download a file, I click on 'Downloads' to see how long it'll be, I see nothing. Plain, blank white. And yes, I know some files download so quickly they're gone before I can open the window. I'm talking about large several-megabyte videos and disk images. No indication that they're downloading at all.
All this has happened since 19.0 installed. Do I have to disable updates from now on to keep the browser working properly!?

I changed the default value to 2, and that at least made a download appear in the download window. However, if I close the window and reopen it, it's blank again. And it won't show more than one download going at once. AND I can't pause or cancel downloads.
I really don't want to reset Firefox, but I suppose I will if I have to.

Some pdf & doc files won't download. The "You Have Chosen to Open" pop-up appears but when I hit 'Save File", it goes away and the file is not saved. The corrupted files show up in mac download file as .part but don't show up in ff download file. Tried suggestions in "Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows" on this website but none worked.

This is most likely Firefox's new "built in" PDF Viewer giving you the trouble.
First, in Firefox, type "about:config" (minus the quotes) in the address bar. This will open the Firefox configuration file. You'll see a warning. Click that you'll be careful, and open the configurer.
At the top there is a search bar. Type "js" (again, minus the quotes).
In the list of results you'll see pdfjsdisabled with a value of "false". Right click it and select Toggle to make it read "true".
Click Firefox>Preferences and under the Applications tab, scroll down to Adobe Acrobat Document. Click the drop down on the right side and choose "Use Adobe Reader (default)".
That should take care of it for you.

Firefox won't download files

Long story, short version: Problem is a progression from bad to worse. Firefox 33.3 won't download or save files (images, web pages, etc.). File picker doesn't open/ can't browse folders, etc. Tried troubleshooting including: reset firefox, safe mode, new profile, rename profile folder files, reset about:config entries, clean install, etc.- nothing changed. Running Windows XP with all updates installed. Using Avast free, Zonealarm free, etc. Workaround currently using down them all add-on is "ok". Any help is most appreciated.

I still use an XP. I cannot download a Windows 7 Firefox browser if I don't have Windows 7, right?

I am irritated. Your browser is insisting that I update to the newer version, yet I don't have Windows 7. I cannot afford to upgrade to W-7 and I've been told by W-7 that I cannot upgrade my XP OS to Windows 7. So what's a girl to do? How can I bypass that stubborn Firefox update page, and still use the browser that I've been suing so far that works just fine?????????????????????????????

I was trying to download Windows 7 and was told on the MS site that Windows 7 could not go on an XP.
And it is my thinking that if there is some way to upgrade to W-7, that it might be so convoluted and complex that I won't know enough about the stuff to do it myself, and I cannot afford to pay someone to do it for me. I doubt if I even have enough memory left on my laptop.
I really need to be able to stay with my old Firefox browser. Can you make this work for me? I can't afford any new computer or new memory, my laptop is maxed out, and I don't think it will work, even if I could download it.

I follow the directions on the site, wich say to click run. So I do, and it is supposed to run after its downloaded, but then when it downloads the download window closes and nothing happens.

Exe file won't download when trying to install firefox

I'm trying to install firefox on a windows 7 laptop and the .exe file won't download. Whenever I click the link it says: failed - network error. I've tried rebooting and downloading form other sites and get similar issues. Any ideas on what's causing this?

The full setup. The exe file did work at times yesterday but as I said above it kept saying the download was interrupted after it had been downloading for about 20 minutes. I tried again today and the exe file won't open or download again.

I hate the new downloads-in-a-tab scheme. This was an unnecessary change in my book (if it aint broke, don't "fix it").
So in order to get it back, I performed the about:config browser.download.useToolkitUI change, but now all I get is a blank download window that pops up every time I download something.
Is there something else that I need to do? I've checked the change and it was saved, but it didn't resolve my issue as much as it just caused me a new issue.

Firefox 4.01 downloads files but the downloads windows greys out the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options and I can't trace the files

Three days ago I upgraded to Firefox 4.01. I downloaded several files that were ok. Yesterday and today I downloaded one powerpoint file and a an apple *.dmg file.
On the Download window these two files I can see with the total mb in size. However when I right click the file list in the Download window the "Open" and "Open containing folder" options are greyed out. What is more I cannot find these files anywhere on my computer when I use Windows Explorer to search.
It seems that this happened after I tried to download a Firefox add on from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/addons/64761/amazonassist-0.7.2.6-fx.xpi and my antivirus picked up the JS/Kryptik.AK trojan and terminated the connection. Is there a link with the problem I am experiencing?

Firefox lags too much when i download and close the current window, then try to open a new window. why?

ok, everytime i download something the download window pops up, so i let it download and i like to keep it open so i can monitor my downloads. now, the problem is when i close the current firefox browser window and try to re-open a new one. my firefox browser window starts lagging/hangs very bad when i open up a new browser window. i have my settings set up to clear my history everytime i close my firefox, so i was wondering why it does this? is it because my history gets cleared and i still have my download window opened?

My default downloads folder is on my server at work, so when I'm at home the downloads window won't open and I can't change my download settings.

I've tried resetting my downloads folder to default, but it just goes back to the downloads folder on my work server that I won't be able to connect to until next month. When I try to select a different download folder, the "browse" button doesn't work. I've also tried selecting the option to ask me where to save each time, but nothing pops up when I try to save something.

hey jessicats86, please enter '''about:config''' into the locationbar of the browser (you might have to confirm the info message in case it shows up) and search for the preferences named '''browser.download.dir''' & '''browser.download.lastDir'''. right-click each of them and reset the value to the default. then restart firefox and try to set the download folder again in the options panel.
