FIREFOX 3.6.3 FOR MAC 10.4.11 tiger NO 3RD PARTY COOKIE BLOCK

FIREFOX 3.6.3, IDK if this is an update from what I had but it used to be on firefox I could block 3rd party cookies, now, even though I have found directions about how to do it, those choices are not showing up on my computer and so every cookie under the sun is being added and slowing down my computer among other things. i'm using o.s. 10.4.11 TIGER

To see all the History and Cookie options, select:

If new bookmarks do not show then a possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Firefox freezes upon startup, and then freezes maybe every twenty minutes or so when I'm actively using it, staying frozen for at least a minute or two. it drives me crazy.

  • Cookies turned off and cleared, but 3rd party cookies are still being shared after Firefox v16.0.1 update

after firefox updated from v15.0.1 to v16.0.1 on Friday (10/19/12), collusion v0.22 shows 3rd party cookies being shared, and a lot of them. I have firefox in "always use private browsing mode", with cookies not allowed, in addition there are no entries in "exception" or in "show cookies". The check boxes for cookies and 3rd party cookies are NOT checked.
This behavior never happened before the update!
I re-installed v15.0.1, but it is still happening.
Rana full sys scan with the latest Norton Security, which found nothing. Tried a few others too, so I'm semi-certain that my system is not infected.
System: Acer 5251-1245 with windows 7 (current patch levels up to date).
What changed with v16.0.1 update? Did Collusion change?
why are 3rd party cookies being shared, and how is it doing it?
Is there a way to check to see if other browsers have the same issues? e.g. chrome, explorer (yuck!), safari, etc....
I've really liked Firefox, but I am afraid to use it, especially to shop online or any financial stuff (banks, credit card payments, etc.).
Maybe I was better off in blissful ignorance before installing collusion earlier this year, but I only ever saw the 3rd party cookie sharing when I had "cookies" turned on without turning on "Accept third-party cookies".
    Again, what changed?

only add-on extensions are "Collusion v0.22" and "Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon v0.4".
The issue never happened until Friday 10/19/12 after the Firefox v16.0.1 update, and was noticed by me on Saturday while using the Firefox to check my work schedule (which sets only its cookie and does not share, but it did and got me worried).
Still wondering if Collusion updated too, and now I'm seeing new behavior.
I do not want to share cookies, which is why I turn them off, and never turn on "share third party cookies".
Do I need to stop using Firefox? :(

  • What line can I add to prefs.js (firefox v22) ensure that 3rd party cookies are allowed?

I'm running a program with selenium and it was working fine, then I updated to firefox version 22 and now its throwing my error saying 3rd party cookies need to be enabled. Is there a line of code I can add to prefs.js in order to ensure that 3rd party cookies are enabled?

Note that current Firefox releases have a new setting to accept third-party cookie from sites that you have visited before.
    *Always : network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 0
    *Never : network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 1
    *Visited: network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 3
    *Block all cookies: network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 2

  • Safari allows 3rd party cookies and all cookies even when prefernces are set to "never allow" with Mac os 10.6.8

safari ALWAYS allows 3rd party cookies and all cookies even when set to "block cookies: always" and "from 3rd party and advertisers."  I have removed the website data, emptied the cache, reset safari, erased the history and it STILL dumps cookies.  (For example, if I go to the usgov weather website only I end up with 11 cookies, the top one being "addthis.com" listed as cashed in local storage.  But didn't I just empty the cache... multiple times??? Is my Safari application "broken" or "corrupt."  Can the application be renewed so that it actually does what it is commanded to do?

    Not using any extensions, Andy.
Allowed a guest account and tested that.  Lots of cache/cookies showed up for my "guest" that on face value, appeared 3rd party:  the familiar "addthis.com" cache and others including a facebook cache and I did not, nor have ever, participated in facebook. But it could be that the "trusted" site my virtual guest visited had a relationship with facebook such that my COMPUTER "friended" facebook even though my guest and I most certainly would have declined the invitation :-)  But what I really don't get is why washington post cookies keep showing up every single time.  Isn't that the absolute definition of 3rd party cookies?!
    forgive my rant.
On the other hand, when I logged out as guest, all data was automatically deleted, and when I relogged in as guest, it appeared that all the data, including cached data, had indeed been deleted.  But when I relogged in as myself, the same old garbage reappeared in the cache and cookie bin. The fact is, there appears to be no such thing as truly and completely emptying ones cache, resetting ones browser, or deleting ones cookies. They are here to stay.
(And, oh yes, I have tried logging out, turning off and on the computer right after performing emptying tasks, etc.)

  • When will firefox stop supporting 3rd party cookies by default much like Safari does now?

Safari by default doesn't accept 3rd party cookies and there have been reports that Firefox will follow suit. Any information in terms of the timeline as to when this will come into effect would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,

You will probably see the change to only allow third-party cookies from visited sites in Firefox 26 (currently on the Aurora update channel).

  • Firefox 4: 1)Tools Options Advanced menu doesn't include DNT option; 2) Tools Options Privacy menu doesn't include disallow 3rd-party cookies

Installed Firefox 4 today; shut down; restarted; 1) DNT option isn't on the Tools Options General Advanced menu or on the Tools Options Advanced menu. 2) The option to disallow 3rd-party cookies isn't available in the Tools Options Privacy menu either.

You may have an extension that is hiding those entries.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • I Can't install Firefox Sync on Firefox 25.0.1 for Mac, which I need to use Firefox on iphone.

When I tried to install Firefox sync it said it was not compatible with firefox 25.0.1.
Mac 10.6.8 is the most my system can handle.
I have an iphone 4 running iOS 7.0.3.
I want to use firefox on my iphone and believe i need to install Firefox Sync to accomplish this. Is there anyway where i can run firefox on my iphone?
Syncing between the Mac and the iphone would be good but is not essential.

This is disappointing, but thank you very much for your time. This will save me many hours of frustration.

  • History, bookmarks and navigation have stopped working in firefox 3.6.8 for mac

    Firefox 3.6.8; Mac OS 10.5.8
The history function doesn't record anything; all my bookmarks are gone; I can't make any new bookmarks either. I tried safe mode, nothing changed. My forward/back arrows go away some times too. I tried reinstalling firefox and repairing permissions. I found the bookmarks file but it is the default one - not mine. Even the default firefox bookmarks won't show up! What is the problem?

  • Autoscrolling stopped working in Firefox 3.6.28 for Mac OS 10.4

I have two Mac G4 desktop computers and have always had autoscrolling Firefox. Now the feature is no longer working. I don't recall updating Firefox recently, but can't go beyond my current version, 3.6.28 because the machines are not Intel.
The autoscroll is very useful. I have tried checking the Preferences..Autoscrolling is checked. I have tried restarting. No luck. I cannot start in Safe Mode as there is no option for it.
If there is some fix for this, it's not apparent on the Firefox Help Website.
So any suggestion that would restore this feature will be very much appreciated. It doesn't seem to be a plug in, or and add on. My feeling is there may be some resetting procedure necessary...but I have no idea how to do that. Again, help to restore Autoscrolling very much appreciated. It worked for years...all I had to do was press the middle mouse button. It could go slow and faster. Now what happens when I press the middle button is that I get my dashboard apps. Hmm.
    Thanks!
