Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 cause Atlassian Confluenc and Jira to hang

Company runs Atlassian Confluence 2.9.2 and Atlassian Jira Enterprise Edition, Version: 3.12.1-#299. Firefox

Awesome. Support forum truncated my description.
Full description: Company runs Atlassian Confluence 2.9.2 and Atlassian Jira Enterprise Edition, Version: 3.12.1-#299. Firefox 3.6.3 works fine with them; Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 cause the login page to hang (blank page, no content, spinner keeps spinning). Behavior is the same with a pristine profile (used Profile Manager to create a new profile, then start with that profile and immediately access Confluence or Jira).

    When attempting to login to a GlasPac (auto glass) website, it requires an F5 Plugin to be installed. This has been working in the past using Firefox 3.x.x and now since I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 it says the plugin in not compatibable with Firefox 4 and will not load it so I am dead in the water !!!!!!! The FF 4.0 upgrade has caused this serious situation ... what needs to be done to rectify it ???

  • I updated to firefox 9.0.1 and my yahoo mail doesn't work with firefox. This is a serious issue for me.

    A few days ago I updated to firefox 9.0.1, and when I am using firefox in the My Yahoo account, I can see my emails, but when I click on one to open it, I am asked to put in my password for yahoo. This shouldn't occur because it already know who I am because I can see my name there and my emails etc. When I put in my password it doesn't accept it.

    The location bar is also known as the address bar, it is where you enter web addresses.
    When it crashes does it submit any crash reports? If it does can you post some of the crash report IDs as that may help somebody identify the cause of the crashes. For details of how to get the crash report IDs see the [[Firefox crashes]] article.

  • I just upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and since the "lock" icon never appears when accessing secure websites, where should I look for it?

    I just recently upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and now the "lock" icon doesn't appear anywhere (I can find) when accessing secure websites. I haven't seen it once. It used to appear in the lower right corner of the screen. I also have Norton Internet Security.

    Padlock is no longer part of Firefox; it was removed beginning in Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection but does not supply additional information. You could have made a typographical error and still have been connected to a secure connection. The padlock was replaced in Firefox 3 with the Site Identity Button. Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
    You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

  • I have a iMac destop 10.6.2 and use the AOL Mail web site with your Firefox Browser. It has worked great for years. I update the firefox to 6.1 and now I cannot send images using the Firefox browser. With Safari browser it works fine.

    I use AOL mail - http://www.aol.com/ with my Firefox 6.1 browser. Before updating aol mail worked great with firefox for years. Now when I try to send ( upload) messages with a file or images I always get the reading " there was a technical problem and I should try again". Messages with NO files or images go through just fine. I have cleared the Firefox history, the cache and cookies and the problem remained the same. The question is does this problem have something to do with the latest update ? AOL are still only familar with the 3.6 Firefox versions. Thanks

    Well I guess I was too optimistic. Since last posting I have had three hang events, one during reboot. When the login dialog box came up I clicked on it and it hung.
    However I do have a new data point. I have enabled the remote login (sshd). I have discovered that when the system hangs like I described above, I can still log in via SSH from my Windows system. The shell appears normal, but when I tried a "killall Safari" command the OS crashed hard. After a hard reset, the system hung during the login process. Again I could login remotely, and that time I executed a "sudo reboot" via the remote session. That cleared the display to all-blue but did not successfully reboot.
    Can anyone suggest what to try via the remote login to help diagnose what is happening? I am familiar with typical Linux architecture but the differences in Mac OS X are leaving me a bit disoriented.

  • Hallelujah, finally disabled OOPP. I use Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade to anything that ignores my settings. Been looking for this info for years!

    As soon as Firefox came out with OOPP, I immediately asked how to permanently disable it and had a Firefox developer straight-up lie to me and say it couldn't be done without downgrading. Thank GOODNESS for the instructions on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/713600?page=1 Finally, finally I have excised the hated OOPP!
    I run Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade, ever, unless I see signs that Mozilla has radically altered its development direction and discarded most of the boneheaded, broken, anti-user development that has gone into versions more recent than Firefox 1.x. Actually making your mission statement more than an empty promise might be a good place to start.
    Let's see...anything else? Oh yeah, any developer who advocates overriding or ignoring user settings, or taking control away from the user, should be kicked off the team. (and investigated as a possible Government mole, but that's a lot to ask for). I hear Konqueror and Safari are looking for new devs. It gets old fast when you try to get support and instead get haughty "You're doing it wrong, stop doing that" responses. I'm doing exactly what I intend to be doing and if you can't support that, someone else will. If you really gave a damn about your users, you might start by backporting security fixes to previous versions instead of spewing out a cacophony of incompatible new versions so rapidly you end up confusing and alienating users and making them switch updates off entirely. I mean seriously, what happens when Firefox hits triple digits? You could stick a decimal in front of it, and name that build after a historic baseball player who had that batting average. But even then you will run out of players in a few months.
    It's truly sad. I switched to Firefox because it was the best browser. But Firefox has been backsliding horribly since around 2.0, and the other browsers seem to be in about the same boat. Firefox IS still the best browser - but only if you use an ancient, unsupported version. That's a big problem.

    Using an obsolete version released [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/9.0.1/releasenotes/ December 11th 2011] is the exact definition of downgrading. It exposes your system to all the security vulnerabilities that have been fixed since then.
    * https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html
    Out-of-process plug-ins was made mandatory on Windows Vista and later because Adobe don't test Flash Player's protected mode with OOPP disabled. This change didn't happen until Firefox 14, so there was no need to go as far back as Firefox 9.0.1.
    If you absolutely have to, you can disable OOPP by creating the ''MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS'' environment variable and setting its value to '''1'''. Firefox must be restarted for the change to take effect. This works in the current version of Firefox, so there's no need to use obsolete insecure versions.<br>
    If you don't know how to create an environment variable, see the following article for instructions (the "Using the Custom Environment Variable" section is not relevant).

    I had a crash of Firefox and since then I can not open it again. • My firefox isn't starting and I've tried changing the profile manager but that wouldn't open either even when I closed it out on the task manager

    I've followed all the steps in the "Firefox will not start" and it is still not working :(

    I'm also having this problem. The firefox.exe ins't even shown in my processes, but the profile manager still won't open. Neither will firefox internet. So far I've been going in circles trying to figure it out and nothing is working. I don't want to start deleting things (the profile, extentions), but I don't know what else to do.

  • How do I utilize multiple instances of firefox utilizing different credentials, and retain full functionality.

    Recently my company made some "in the name of security" changes. One of these was to give local IT two windows accounts, one for e-mail and day to day activities, and the other for when administrative privileged is required.
    I have been using Firefox for years with out problems. I have made the tweaks for auto authentication to the domain as well as few others and everything has been working fine. Problem I am having is that now with my second credentials I have to have multiple browsers open so that the internal sites that require my privileged account authenticate properly. i have successfully gotten both Firefox (29.0.1) and Firefox portable (29.0.1) to run with my other credentials. (Love that -no-remote switch) My problem is any time something requires a plug-in YouTube(flash) The Firefox session started with my secondary (privileged) credentials starts displaying unresponsive script errors. This is a huge headache as several of my companies internal websites require both my secondary credentials, but they require flash as well?

    The unresponsive script can be troubleshooted or prevented with this recommended add on mentioned in this knowledge base article [http://mzl.la/LOwPvg] However it is strange that when you access the youtube site the other windows that are authenticated seem to timeout? or do they just hang?
    One way to narrow this down is to check what script is running in the web console tool found in the web developer menu. The warning will normally tell you what script is running and should give a hint. Other questions have mentioned it was this script: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/982169 questions/982169]
    You can also try the new Firefox player being developed to play instead: [http://mozilla.github.io/shumway/] It would replace the default Flash player Youtube uses.
    For further investigation if this still happens after trying shumway:
    # What are the credentials being authenticated with? Both are windows accounts, however when visiting websites each authenticated windows account are logged in at the same time, how?
    # Autoauthentication is implemented how?
    #Multiple browsers? Does each browser only have one of the two authenticated accounts logged in?
    Thank you for your posts!

  • I try to open Firefox. Get error message saying Firefox is already running and needs to close - another error message say Firefox can't open

    Turned on laptop (rebooted) after being away from it for a few hours. Went to open my home page. Error message popped up saying Firefox is already running and must be closed. I closed it and another error message popped up saying Firefox can't open - incomplete or missing files.
    I went into Processes to close Firefox. Selected 'end process' but nothing happened.
    Tried to use Internet Explorer but it just gets hung up. Cannot access anything.
    And, because I can't open Firefox, I can't go a refresh.
    Everything was working just fine a few hours ago.
    Any thoughts?

    What is the computer system and Firefox on the bad computer?
    Separate Issue;
    Your System Details on this computer shows;
    Multiple versions of your Adobe programs.
    Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
    Go to '''adobe.com''' and download the full installers after removing

    Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift><br> ''(Mac Options)'' ''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
    This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up in Windows.

    After several opening and closing of Firefox several time it will not open when I click on the desk top icon. • Tried to use Restore to return to pre-Firefox4 but now Firefox won't open and won't uninstall.

    After trying to maneuver the new Firefox 4.0 for a while and giving up, I wanted to go back to the 3.6.1.6 version. I used the Restore feature to try to go back to the pre-Firefox 4.0 dowload. Since then, Firefox won't open. I have tried to uninstall Firefox 3.6.1.6, which is listed in my installed programs in the Control Panel, but it doesn't do anything. At this point I don't know what to do. I want to re-instate the 3.6.1.6 version on my computer. Thanks.

    You're in a bit of a pickle here because you can't use System Restore to revert to 3.6.16. You probably now have version 1.9.2.x which is in part, files which were not removed when you installed FF4
    What you can try and do is use System Resore to undo the last restoration which should take you back to 4.0 again. If that fails, see this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_firefox
    If the undo restoration is successful, do the following to revert to 3.6.16
    Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16] and download it to the desktop. If necessary, download the file with IE8 and choose to save it to your desktop when you see the prompt.
    Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
    Then reboot and delete the folder called '''Mozilla Firefox''' at this location: ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
    Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
    Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

    setup problem, windows xp, firefox upgrade to 4 and asked to reboot but did not progress. keeps asking to restart even if I try to remove

    Hi marsano,
    Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
    * Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
    If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    # Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
    # [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
    # Run installer
    Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.
    Hopefully this helps!
