Firefox 3.6.4 disables aero

Firefox 3.6.4 appears to disable aero when I run a flash based page. However only Aero on the browser is disabled and the theme is still enabled on other windows.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== I upgraded to 3.6.4

Same here, disabling Optimize Google didn't help at all.
Firefox 3.6.6 on W7 x64 Ultimate, but problem started for me since 3.6.5.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 disables aero on launch inWin 7 64Bit

    Hi all,
I have an odd problem, I've just received my copy of Win 7 Signature edition and I have installed Adobe Preimiere Pro CS4, but when I launch the application it disables my Aero theme!
I've been running win7RC1 (buld 7100) for the last few months and never had the problm with Premiere Pro CS4 in that.
For some reason, now running premiere pro cs4 is causing the Windows 7 Desktop Window Manager to stop running.
I know this because I can run premiere, it then disables aero, then i run the aero troubleshooting (with premiere still running) and it will re-enable aero (by restarting the desktop window manager) and then tell me the desktop windows manager is disabled.
Does anyone know why Premiere Pro CS4 is disabling the Desktop Window Manager when it first runs and how I can stop it from turning off Aero?
I don't want aero turned off and have to manually turn it back on with the troubleshooter!
I also have version 4.0.1 of CS4 so I've done the Adobe updates. I also have the latest NVidia drivers for my 8800GT (downloaded 2 days ago)

Sometimes the latest drivers aren't the best ones. Just recently I had to rollback a new version of the drivers for my GTX260. The NEXT version that EVGA put out worked well. I really suspect a driver issue there.
BTW, how much RAM are you running? I was STUNNED the other day to see that my GTX260 which is an 896MB video card was using 4GB of shared system memory. I have 12GB and I'm OK usualy, but wow-WEE that's a big hit. So see what your card is doing... it may be eating a lot os sys mem with the new drivers, therefore causing 7 to think you are running on an under-powered PC.
Remember, it's alway better to go to your Card manufacturer for drivers, such as EVGA, PNY, etc, as opposed to going to Nvidia.com.

NoScript stops cookies, please disable this addon/extension as well as make sure that the language en-us is installed.
    # 1) Open up the Firefox Preferences tab. You can do this by typing about:preferences in the URL bar.
    # 2) Click "Content"
    # 3) Next to "Languages", click "Choose"
    # 4) Select "English/United States [en-us]", click "Add"
    # 5) re-open "about:accounts"
    # 6) Click "Get Started"
    </blockquote>
Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, I already did all of these things. As you can see from the below screenshot, the language is already set. Also, this screenshot was taken in Safe Mode, so NoScript is not enabled. About:accounts still says I need to enable cookies for some reason. So, this solution didn't work....

  • Firefox for Mac: accidentally disabled full screen Flash video for Yahoo. How to reenable??

I was looking at a video on screen.yahoo.com, and that annoying "Now entering full screen... allow/don't allow" (paraphrasing) dialog came up at the top. I must have inadvertently selected the option to disable, because now when I click the fullscreen icon at the lower right part of the video, nothing happens at all. No full screen, no annoying dialog. Nothing.
As per other posts on this forum from people who have had this problem, I have tried the following:
    • Deleted ALL Flash Player settings in my Mac's System Preferences
    • Gone to about:permissions in Firefox and set Fullscreen to ALLOW for all Yahoo URLs
    • Deleted all COOKIES for domain yahoo.com
I have also quit and rebooted Firefox after having done these things. Alas, I go back to the video on screen.yahoo.com, click the fullscreen icon in the video frame, and still get nothing.
I'm stumped. This seems to be a heavy price to pay for accidentally clicking the wrong button one time. Sort of a Zero Tolerance Policy approach to video settings... Any other ideas about how I can restore this functionality??
    Thanks!
    DM

    You can hover the image.
That should make a delete X appear.
You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
*Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

  • Firefox/IE issue switching from Aero to Basic on Thinkpad X1

When using Go-To-Meeting, it automatically switches the theme from Aero to Basic.  When this happens Firefox and IE will not display menu dropdowns.  It works fine in Chrome.
    Any suggestions?

That doesn't really surprise me, since the more recent versions of Firefox/IE have hardware acceleration enabled(not sure about Chrome), so that may have something to do with what you're experiencing.

  • Extra tab appears on home page saying ant download successful. Cannot stop it from appearing. Pop-up says firefox update available, cannot disable. Will not keep changes about disable upgrades.

When I open mozilla firefox, an extra tab appears that says ant upgrade download successful. I had set that do not accept upgrades. It upgraded and I cannot eliminate the tab from appearing on my homepage. I always have problems when I take a Mozilla update so I tried to disable. I keep getting a pop-up telling me one is available and I should take it. I am trying to not change my service.

  • Firefox recommended that I disable Java (TM) Platform SE 6 U24 6.0.240.7. What will happen if I disable this?

I have Windows 7. If I disable this Java add-on, what should I replace it with? Thanks

I've been reluctant to upgrade to Firefox 11 because I understand it will not look like my Firefox 3.6. I like the look and placement of my tool bars and menu bars, etc. Is there any way Firefox 11 can be tweaked to look like 3.6?

  • I have the latest flash, but firefox says it has disabled it and encourages me to get a newer one. This is nonsense,

    OS: Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick)
I am not able to use the APT for ubuntu because I'm behind a proxy. Installing the libflashplayer.so version 10.3.181.34 directly (downloading from adobe) doesn't work - Firefox claims that it has disabled it "for my safety." What? Just let me enable it. My browser is the 64-bit version.

If you have a 64 bit Firefox version then you need a 64 bit Flash plugin.

  • [SOLVED] Firefox/GTK - How to disable the icons on buttons?

    I'm running GNOME 2.30 with Firefox 3.6.3.
I have set: gtk-button-images = 0 in .gtkrc-2.0 (although I think it might be deprecated), as well as setting buttons_have_icons to false in gconf under /apps/desktop/gnome/interface.
All other programs have icon-free buttons, but Firefox insists:
    [img]redacted[/img]
    Is there something I'm missing?

I'm not so sure ... I've tried all of the ~25 GTK themes I have installed, and they all still have icons, but only in Firefox.  All (most?) other GTK apps I've tried removed the button icons.
I'm in Xfce now, and the situation is the same.  Look at the "Close" buttons in both sceens:
    Icons on buttons ENABLED:
    Icons on buttons DISABLED:
So maybe this is a Firefox issue?

I use Firefox portable 14.0.1 and it was displaying you are on release update channel. Even with the auto-update option disabled, it updated to version 16.0.2 thus resulting in some of my add-ons not working.

  • Firefox updates seek to disable AVG, but we prefer and want to keep it.

We are way behind in updating Firefox. When we first tried to do so, long ago, the upgrade said AVG protection was incompatible and it would be disabled. We like AVG; McAffee we found intrusive and took up a lot of space. Therefore we have not made great efforts to update Firefox from a version that works with AVG. It's fine for us as it is. The experience of many users with limited expertise is that 'improvements' often aren't.

Please update to the current Firefox 26 release.

The quite old Firefox 4 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates.
*It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest version to get all security fixes.

AVG will still do its work in the background.
Did you check for updates of AVG that are compatible with Firefox versions?

  • Firefox 5.0 error: Disabled incompatible add-on "avast! WebRep 20110101"

Last night, I updated Firefox to 5.0 according to Firefox's exhortations. I also updated Avast's (free) engine, program, and virus definitions. I don't recall which I did first, FF or Avast, but I got the FF error
    Incompatible Add-ons Found
Some of your add-ons won't work with this
update, and will be disabled. As soon as they
are made compatible, Firefox will update and
    re-enable these add-on:
    avast! WebRep 20110101
Today, I went through the motions of all of the above Avast updates, though I'm not sure if there was anything new to update.
I tried to navigate to some applications panel on FF to see whether the above add-on was re-enabled. Tools->AddOns isn't it, it simply has a bunch of tabs, one of which is *Get* Add-ons.
I have the following two questions:
    1. How do I view the add-ons that haven been added on to FF (I expect that some might be designated as disabled, perhaps even the one mentioned above).
    2. What does this add-on do? Is it different from Web Shield, which is shown as running?

    '''<u>Web Rep toolbar</u>'''<br />
The toolbar installed into Firefox by Avast (any many other security application have their own similar toolbar) and should be considered optional, but is force-installed by the 3rd-party application. I do not use the toolbar supplied with my security application as it is an extra burden on the browser and duplicates a function built-in t0 Firefox, the Safe Browsing component. I depend on the Safe Browsing component in Firefox to keep me away from known malicious sites. All other parts of your Avast application should still be working as it should, in the background, to protect you. You can post on the Avast forum and receive information and reassurance there.

This add-on was force-installed into Firefox a year and a half ago by a monthly Windows/Microsoft update. Microsoft .NET Framework is not even required on most (maybe 95% or even more) of Windows-based systems. It is very doubtful that you have ever encountered a web site or an application installation that requires .NET Framework. You can ignore it unless you load a website or install a program that says it is required.

I installed new Firefox 4.0 and it automatically disabled Trend Micro tool bar 3.1.1110, Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension 6.5.0.1234 and HP Smart Web Printing 4.6.0 since they wer "not compatible.
How can I return to my previous application of Firefox?

Did you try the add-on compatibility reporter? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003/
Firefox 4.0 beta 1 installs to a separate directory, so unless you uninstalled it, your previous Firefox install should be there. Just find it in the start menu and run it, allowing it to set itself back as the default browser.
If you did uninstall it, just install it again: [[Installing Firefox]].
You can but don't have to uninstall 4.0 via Add/Remove Programs
