Firefox 3.6.6 does not load web sites

Installed the update 3.6.6 this morning. Ran fine. Shortly thereafter ( and I don't know if this is related ) Norton Internet Security dialog box said system had to be restarted because of a security problem. Restarted PC ( Windows XP Pro all service packs ), started Firefox, got blank page. Tried other sites, same result. IE8 ran fine. I uninstalled Firefox, restarted PC, installed Firefox 3.5.1, now runs fine.

Error console reports the following after loading Firefox on XP
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsUrlClassifierListManager.js :: PROT_ListManager :: line 79" data: no]

  • Firefox does not load a site

i installed ff4. but when i start it, it does not load a web page. it just shows a blank page.

Firefox 4 may be being blocked by your firewall. For more details on that and other possible causes see [[Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can]].

  • Firefox 3.6.13 does not load AOL mail - it logs in ok but does not load

I updated Firefox to the latest version and it will not load my AOL eMails.
I can however log into my AOL account and it shows the Welcome message and number of unread mail and also shows the folders etc. including Spam folder but it does not load the eMail or will not allow me to open any eMails.- Just shows blank.
BTW I can access my AOL mail Box with Internet Explorer.

  • Firefox 3.6.15 does not load, if automatic upgrade or issues an error message if installed by hand.

I allowed Firefox 3.6.15 to update my existing Firefox (3.6.13). After the upgrade, Firefox does not load (not in Task Manager). I removed it, downloaded and installed it by hand, and I get a 1.9.15 not compatible with 1.9.13 error message. When I reinstall Firefox 3.6.13, it works fine.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

  • Since updating to Firefox 22 Twitch.tv does not load the player anymore

I just updated to Firefox 22 and no Twitch.tv's player simply does not load anymore. Just a black rectangle where the player is supposed to be and if I rightclick in that area, I get the same context menu as everywhere else, meaning that the player definitly did not load. Youtube works fine though.

This gotta be the worst ff upgrade ever, every single thing breaks

  • I have just upgraded to firefox 4, but it does not load up when i press icon

originally, i upgraded directly frm firefox site and it launched. then after shutting down, it has not loaded up since. i have deleted the old firefox off my laptop and attempted to re-install, but no luck. it still does not load up.
i have windows 7, and see the spinning wheel (like it is doing something), but nothing happens.

Just for starters see if you can get Firefox going. Instead of double Left clicking, Right click on Firefox icon>Open.
If that doesn't work, try opening via Firefox in the Start Menu or Programs List. If that works try creating a new desktop icon.
Then you try to start Firefox in Safe Mode - Hold down the Shift Key as you double click on the Icon> don't check any of the boxes on the page that appears>Continue. You have now disabled all extensions and also Hardware Acceleration.
Make sure your plug-ins such as Flash are up-to-date.
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
You should look up "Problematic Extensions"
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions ,
and try disabling third party toolbars.
If Firefox works in Safe Mode you have a culprit or conflict. If you are able to, you disable and re-enable extensions progressively until you find the problem. you will need to work your way through this -

  • Since the weekend my Firefox 10.0.2 does not load the content of the frames when I connet to Facebook

I can log in and out of Facebook. The heading at the top of the home page loads, and so does the thin blue frame in which the content should be displayed. The page however stays blank. The same happens if I connect to a friend's profile. I also cannot search of display my profile wall of whatever.
My very old version of Microsoft Internet Explorer works perfectly, although it displays a warning about being outdated.
Google's Crome browser have the same problem as Firefox i.e. a blank screen.
I tried deleting cookies and cach. I tried reïnstalling Firefox. I even removed it completely, with al personal settings and stuff (and thus lost tweaks which I have been using for years) I the reïnstalled it... to no avail. I have tried using an old version (9.0.1) but it also just displays a blank screen.
If I DISable Javascript in Firefox my Facebook homepage loads, but the none of the buttons (eg "see more" , "display al nn comment" work. "See more" does not do anything and "disply all nn comments" displays a blank page.

I have found a solution to the problem on a Google Chrome forum where people were discussing the same problem in that browser. If you connect to
https://www.facebook.com (NOTE THE "S" which indicates a secure connection) Facebook wil display correctly.
The only problem is that you have to keep pasting the "https" in front of every link you follow. To make it permanent do the following. I paste from the site
    (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=1ce2eceab414b310&hl=en)
    SammieKay08
    Level 1

    Problem solved:
    1. Login to your Facebook account in your browser.
    2. Click on the Account on your top-right and select Account Settings from the drop down list.
    3. Click on the Change link in front of the Account Security.
    4. Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Browser Facebook on a secure connection (https).
    5. Click on the blue Save button to save the settings.
Voila! Permanent https (secure browsing) on facebook and no more having to type in the "s" every time. :)

  • Firefox 4 (nor other browsers) do not load web sites but IE can

    Hello,
Firefox suddenly stopped work - It was working few days after ver. 4 update. I was looking everywhere for some solution but nothing worked. - uninstalled firewall - '''did not worked '''- added full exception for Firefox into the firewall - '''did not worked '''- Firefox reinstallation - '''did not worked '''- Firefox complete uninstallation (registry including) - '''did not worked '''- IPv6 disabling - '''did not worked '''- diferent proxy options (no proxy, system proxy, autodetect proxy) - '''did not worked '''- new firefox profile - '''did not worked '''- complete coockies, history... deleted - '''did not worked '''- there is only one solution which partly works - I have used public proxy addresses for Firefox but the ping is (750ms), down/up (0.8MB/0.2MB) originaly (10MB/2MB) and yes, I have tried different proxy server from different countries from my including. - IE is working perfectly and without proxy - other browser - are not working also - only IE is working - I have used three different malware, trojans, spyware, anti-virus programs and nothing
It seems to me as hopeless situation or very clever move from Microsoft, I am forced to use IE - at least this works
    Any ideas, solutions?
System Windows 7, firewall Comodo Internet security
    Thanks everyone for the help

Yes, skype was running that time, but....
    1) I do not start Skype automatically with Windows start up.
    2) I cannot use any browser for web pages loading
    3) it seems to me as something is preventing to browser go to the internet cos firewall never recognized any request for connection to the network.
    findings:
    - firewall nor defense+ is the problem - we have tried it already - with different conditions and with completely uninstalled
    - plugin container.exe cannot be started, but I think that Firefox should be able to run without it
    - IPv6 is not a problem
    - Skype or Hamachi is not cause of this problem
    - Firefox is able to run with manually set proxy server - but is slow
    - IE is running regardless everything what is preventing to run other browsers
The easiest way will be to reinstall the windows. I have killed innumerable hours to solve it without success - reinstall is at least sure solution
Anyway thank you for your help

The following information will help the Muse team:
Share one specific url that is not loading correctly. Do not ask folks to just "explore the site".
Please post a screenshot illustrating the error. The error may not happen in a different version of Firefox (or on a different OS).
Give the version number of Firefox you are using.

  • Latest version does not load web pages correctly with windows 8 system

I did a new install of Firefox (latest version) on a new Windows 8 laptop (I did not import anything). When I go to Hulu & Facebook (as an example, this happens to almost all sites I try to load) the pages do not load correctly, I get hyper links on the left side of the screen. If I refresh then the pages load correctly.

  • Safari does not load web pages completely

Since I loaded Leopard, Safari is not loading some of the webpages that I go to regularly. If I move my mouse over the page some of the text starts to show but not the webpage. When i use my scroll wheel on my mouse to look at the lower part of the page then the page is displayed properly. Safari has always worked well with 10.4 and now that I have 10.5 i'm running into some issues. Can someone please advise? Thanks

  • Firefox does not load web pages but gives no error message

    Hi guys,
I have been having this problem occasionaly for the past few weeks and can't remember making any changes to my computer or firefox that would have prompted it. Basically what happens is that when I try to load a web page, it says "loading..." at the top of the tab as if it is going to the page, but then nothing happens. It just says "loading..." and never goes to an error message or anything. It will stay like this for hours. I tried clearing the cache and history and it doesn't do anything. Internet explorer works perfectly so I know it's not a network connection problem. When I quit and restart firefox everything works again. It is not specific to any one site, it happens for all sites. I didn't find anything matching my problem on the help pages. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks very much,
    Ben

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Firefox page starts but does not load properly, cannot access toolbars or open web pages

There is no setting I can change to fix this issue.
