Firefox 3.6.6 released

The many problems caused by the new Firefox 3.6.4 "hang detector" facility that led to Flash Player crashes has led Mozilla to release Firefox 3.6.6 with a higher timeout value.
For details see http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/The+Adobe+Flash+plugin+has+crashed?s=plugin+timeout&as =s
Please update your Firefox if you have troubles with Flash Player on FF 3.6.4!
Thanks to eidnolb for providing the information about the Firefox update!

Firefox 3.6.6 with Flash 10.1 will play a flash video in full screen,  but none of the controls work in full screen on some sites. I also had games like Farm town lock up when in full screen on facebook. I ended up going back to Firefox 3.5 everything works normal now.
I did do a fresh install of 3.6.6 and lastest flash before downloading Firefox 3.5,

    To answer this you should of course try the latest Firefox 24.4 esr not the plain Firefox 24 from the Release channel.

    Because it's not very server respectful
    Yeah, seriously. Why don't you also just enable the rape-server option while you're at it?
    Firefox 2 renders faster than 1.5 here, without any omfg-optimize tweaking. I realize it's more popular to criticize projects for every little thing we don't like, rather than point out a project's improvements and benefits, but having used firefox 2 and the rc's for weeks, I think it's a much appreciated improvement.
    And 5 to 9 seconds from clicking on a link? That doesn't sound like a firefox issue...
    Take it easy champ ... you are too sensitive.
    I just made a timed comparison of my installed FF 1.5 and 2.0 and the first has no delay the second does ... that is not my system since both are in the same system.
    The tweaks were given by mozilla and I found them Googling, so ... perhaps they should enable the rape-server option themselves
    All I'm saying is that I noticed a clear difference in the response of the new browser and if that is the way things are then other people will notice that too and may feel that is not as "powerful" as it used to be.
    And just in case you did not notice it I'm not criticizing the project, FF IS my favorite browser I'm just surprised because it was my understanding that it should be faster than FF 1.5

  • Updating from firefox 29 beta to release version

    I am currently on Firefox 29 Beta, with the browser updated to the latest RC version last week. But as of 29th April 2014, the release version of Firefox 29 has been introduced. I wanted to know if my browser will update to the release version using the automatic updater or if I need to update manually from beta version to release version.

    hello joynul007, when you're on firefox 29 beta currently you will be updated to firefox 30 beta in a few days. in case you'd like to switch back to the regular release versions, just download firefox 29 for your system & language from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all.html and install it on top of your current beta version (this will keep all your bookmarks, passwords and settings).

  • Firefox 23 won't release windows focus

    Lately, since FF 23.0.1, my "main" FF window (the one where I keep gmail and other pinned tabs), simply won't release the focus to any other Firefox window or any other app at all. To see the other windows, I have to minimize this one.
    I closed it yesterday, and for a while after I reopened, it allowed other things to take focus, but then it stopped allowing again.
    I've tried closing every single tab but a blank one, and it still won't release.
    Any thoughts?
    Running Win7, 64-bit.

    I think so. A couple windows have youtubes that I haven't watched yet. Is that what you mean?
    However, I used to have such open without this issue.
    Also, it continued after I closed all the tabs. Would that not have "fixed" it?

  • The Firefox 8.0.1 release is crashing ALL THE TIME on MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.8 after installing latest Flash version

    At this time, Firefox is virtually unusable on the Mac now.
    This is not related to any particular website, although websites with flash or java script or "fancier" I/Fs are assured to crash Firefox.
    For example, a minute ago, I tried to enter a search phrase into Google (main page) and crash. I tried to enter a search phrase into Netflix search window and crash. I hadn't seen a crash on the Fox News pages though and they are rich content.
    Firefox wasn't doing this before the 8.0.1 update (but I can't distinguish this event from the update of Flash to 11.1.102)
    I do know that Firefox is virtually unusable (and I'm in Safari at this moment).
    I suppose its possible that something on the Mac changed (firmware) but why isn't there a problem with Safari then?
    Its not like I have time for a full fledged debug of another software application!!! I don't (and I AM a professional software developer that develops on ALL the platforms/OS including OSX all versions, Windows back to XP, and Linux most flavors and I'm a Qt expert also)
    I've NEVER had this problem before. At first I was leaning towards the Flash update. But now I'm not sure.
    If someone would suggest a progression of moves to isolate this issue, I'll take that much time to troubleshoot this. I can't quite believe that more people aren't having this problem.
    ok.. I'll start with disabling plugins. Then I'll start backing up to previous versions, starting with Flash, then Firefox as these were the latest 2 updates.

    I'm going to back up to Firefox 7 next. I'm getting the drift that 8.0.1 and/or flash on 8.0.1 are unstable.
    I'll let you know if that solves this problem.
    NOPE. This had no effect.

  • Why was the "I'm Feeling Lucky" functionality removed from the Firefox awesomebar in all releases after version 3.6?

    In Firefox 3.6, when I type something specific, like "wikipedia steve jobs" into the url bar, I am taken directly to Wikipedia's page for Steve Jobs, and if I type something less specific, I am taken to a Google search results page for what I typed in the bar (unless it was a URL, obviously); in the current version of Firefox, though, I am taken to a Google search results page for whatever I type in (again, not a URL, obviously), even if the page I am seeking is obvious-- how can I avoid this extra step and regain the Firefox 3.6 "I'm Feeling Lucky" functionality?

    There is a change beginning in Firefox 4 and later versions in how Location bar search works.
    * In Firefox 3.6.x, Location bar search uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site otherwise it shows the Google search result page
    * In Firefox 4 and newer versions the default is to perform a Google search and present the Google search results page if you type something which is not recognized as a URL you must type a complete URL, such as www.youtube.com to go directly to the site.
    To get the Firefox 3.6.x behavior in Firefox 4 and newer versions, you can either change a hidden preference OR install the add-on below.
    -> To change the preference, type '''about:config''' in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' button.
    * In the '''Filter bar''', type '''keyword.URL'''
    * Right click the preference '''keyword.URL''' and click '''Modify'''
    * A small window will appear. Copy one of the URLs below and Paste into the box in that small window (or type it into the box in that window exactly as shown below):
    * Google "I'm Feeling Lucky" -> http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=
    * Google "Browse by Name" -> http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=
    * Close the '''about:config''' tab and then Restart Firefox.
    -> OR install this extension:
    * Browse By Name 1.1
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/browse-by-name
    Check and tell if its working.

  • Trouble deleting Firefox 34 - most recent release

    I can't delete Mozilla Foxfire using my control panel after doing a system restore. My computer was corrupted recently and I was having problems with the most recent version (Flash shockwave add-on kept crashing) so I deleted Foxfire without issues. I continued to have problems so I did a system restore, choosing the most recent restore point when I no issues. Foxfire seemed to be part of this restore, but unfortunately does not work. How do I fully delete the non-functional Foxfire from my computer so I can reload a functioning version.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    It might be possible to run the uninstaller manually.
    Could you please try pressing the Windows key + R? In the box that appears, paste:
    ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe''
    And press Run.
    Let us know if that works!

  • Firefox 4.0 (final released version) not printing on different computers and printers preview same way prints only url on top of pages

    This is happening on different OS's Win 7, Win XP, Win Vista (32 & 64 Bit) OS's and various printers HP, Lexmark that we have at several different sites where we have computers. This happens on locally installed printers (LPT1, USB) and IP networked printers. ALL printer drivers are current and worked correctly under Firefox 3.6.15. Print previews show the correct printers but only shows the URL's on the top of the pages which is all that prints, it even happens on when trying to print pdf's. This is happening on all fifty computers that we have that have been upgraded to ver 4.0 from ver Firefox 3.6.15. Updates made within FF update tool. Same thing happens with all add-ons disabled on all computers. Read all knowledge base items on printing problems none helpful. Obviously, something is not working right. Any suggestions?

    Is there anyone who might be able to offer some suggestions on this issue, please?
    I posted this question/issue 48 hours ago, and it's floating downhill in the queue without any replies. I am still paralyzed, unable to print.
    Bob Headrick, I notice that you are omnipresent on this forum, and also very knowlegeable. May I ask for your thoughts on this issue?  I believe I've followed all the rules here--posting the specifics of the problem, the model numbers and configurations of all equipment, the software involved--but if I've failed to follow forum protocol in any way, please let me know and I'll do my best to post the information you need. I'm sorry to call you out by name, but I'm unclear on how to get help, and I'm at a loss for a solution to this issue.
    Thanks in advance to Bob and/or anyone else who has a moment to help on this incredibly frustrating issue.

    The following webpage(http://www.geek.com/news/firefoxs-four-release-channels-explained-1489525/) says that Release versions are released every 6weeks.If that be so then how come v36.0 , v36.0.1 , v36.0.3 , v36.0.4 are relese channel versions ?
    the particular release pages mention "Version 35.0.1, first offered to Release channel users on January 26, 2015"
    Version 35.0, first offered to Release channel users on January 13, 2015
    Firefox Notes
    Version 36.0, first offered to Release channel users on February 24, 2015
    Version 36.0.1, first offered to Release channel users on March 5, 2015
    Version 36.0.3, first offered to Release channel users on March 20, 2015
    Firefox Notes
    Version 36.0.4, first offered to Release channel users on March 21, 2015
    (Pls look at the dates.)
    Thanking you

    I explained what the 36.0, 36.0.1, v36.0.3 and v36.0.4 are at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1055806
    The first version is the Major Release version. The last number like say 36.'''.4'''.0 was a chemspill update to do stability and or security fixes. These minor versions are not Releases. Ideally there is no minor updates.
    As you can see with previous Firefox Releases like 30.0, 26.0, 22.0, 21.0 for example on https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ there were no updates for them as there was nothing that warranted a stability and or security fix before next Release at time.
    Release/beta/Aurora/nightly/ESR are the main channels.
    Current as of this post:
    Release channel currently has 37.0.1 as you can see at www.mozilla.org/firefox/all
    Beta = 38.0b# and currently has [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/all/ 38.0b1]
    Aurora = 39.0a1
    Nightly = 40.0a1
    The Beta channel can have say six to twelve builds for a version.
    Aurora is now called Developers Edition and both Aurora/Nightly gets checkins almost everyday so they get a update each of those days. Due to checkins they can be unstable at times until problem checkin(s) is fixed or backed out next update. These two channels are more for Testers and Devs and those who at least know how to manage separate folder installs and Profiles for each as they are not meant for regular Firefox users.
    [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ ESR is short for Extended Support Release] and is currently based on Firefox 31.0 and the current Release version is [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ 31.6.0esr]. The second number like say the 6 in 31.'''6'''.0 esr goes up one version (next will be 36.7.0 esr) in line with the next Firefox Release (which will be 38.0) and the last number goes up if a chemspill update is warranted.
    When Firefox 38.0 is Released the next ESR will be based on it.

  • Looking for 64 bit version of firefox, pre-release or Beta ok

    I have Win7 Pro 64bit. Was having issues with continuous crashing of flash. I installed Adobe Flash Square version10 64bit with Firefox version4, reduced # of flash crashes.
    When firefox pushed out version 5, I installed it & the browser kept dragging/crashing all over again. looked up Adobe Flash Square to see if any info avail, Adobe had Adobe Flash Square version11 64bit, so I uninstalled version 10 prior to installing version11 per Adobe instructions. Although it has helped, it is not where it was prior to installing Firefox 5.
    I have tested Firefox 5 with the current Adobe Flash 32bit release as well, and what can I say, it's not work the effort on my 64bit system. for some reason this combo maxes out my cpu (2.8 dual core) & memory (4 gb + virtual), causing me to hard boot my system.
    I understand Firefox devs are working on a 64bit version for Windows. I would like to volunteer to test it. I have many years of SW design & QA experience so any bugs I find I will fully document.
    The 64bit version of IE works well with the 64bit Flash, lots better than 32bit version, but I prefer to use Firefox or Chrome (I often utilize both simultaneously, each on own screen).
    Please let me know if a 64bit version of Firefox is available (pre-release/beta ok) & if it is not is there an expected availability date?
    Thank you in advance,
    Verta Tannehill

    Nightly is a pre-release testing version of Firefox: bleeding edge and not necessarily stable. It is Firefox -- a rose by any other name, and all -- but it is buggy, as all testing software is (I'm using it right now). New Firefox versions are born from Nightly, so when a 64-bit version of Firefox is released, it will have come from Nightly development. Use it for general browsing and send feedback (Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General) and you will be helping to beta test a new baby Firefox.
