Firefox 3.6.8 causes problem in Microsoft Outlook

I updated Firefox to version 3.6.8 a few days ago. Since then, when I start Microsoft Outlook (version 10), it aks if I want to open or save an html page file (a different one each time; these pages are always empty when I save or open one), prior that Outlook goes to my mail server. When I cancel the offer to save or open the page file, Outlooks then communicates with the mail server correctly. I removed Firefox and saw that Outlook works fine. I reinstalled Firefox 3.6.8, and noticed that the problem came back in Outlook.
This happened
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.125 Safari/533.4

Solved my problem. I had installed a Persona (skin) that used animations. This seems to have been the problem.
What I did not appreciate is that when I disabled the Personas add-on, it did nothing to stop the behavior, and left the Persona intact.
After switching to another non-animated Persona, my cpu is back to 0%
I discovered this after lengthy experimentation with the above suggestions, which did nothing for me.

I was having a problem in Microsoft Word 2010 and 2013: tooltips that show the content of comments, footnotes, etc., were flickering and disappearing.
I have now identified this as an imcompatibility with btplayerctrl.exe, the Bluetooth Media Player Controller.

I am wondering if I should update my driver to see if this fixes the problem--I don't want to run into further problems due to the update. And, would I have to uninstall the previous version before doing that?
At the moment I am not using bluetooth at all, and I don't even know what btplayerctrl.exe does.

Sorry for the senior moment comment.  I was following onto your mention of that phrase.
If you go into File > Open Recent > More… you can select files you have touched Today, Yesterday, Past Week…
Selecting a file and doing a Save As… should point to the folder where the file went.
Does this work for you to find the file?

• Download causing problems with Microsoft Word

Hi  - I’ve downloaded Acrobat Standard subscription.
Because I couldn’t find a download button, I contacted an Adobe forum and was given another link, which allowed me to download (though with no product key – is that normal?)
What has happened is this:
During the downloading process, I was told to close other programmes, including Word – which I did. I was told that Word was not closed, but it appeared to be so I continued anyway…
I now have the problem that each time I try to open a Word doc., I get the long message that I’ve copied in below relating to a problem with/absence of macros.
Eventually I can open the Word doc by clicking the OK button 5 or 6 times – the message goes at last and I can continue. So not I’m not completely incapacitated, but it’s clearly a problem.
I’ve been in touch with Adobe by phone; but in the end your colleague couldn’t help.
So… I’m wondering – can I uninstall the programme and start again? Or might there be another way around this? I’ve tried repairing Word, but that has made no difference.I don't think I have a Serial Number.
Thanks - Laurence

• Having screen rendering / memory problems with Microsoft Outlook 2013 and full screen mode with large 2560x1440 dual monitors

MS Outlook 2013 seems to work fine for a while until a) enough time passes or b) I have multiple MS Outlook windows open. Then I start to see all sorts of graphical issues ranging from certain parts of the outlook window not rendering to certain functions
locking etc.  Occassionally, when I decrease from full screen I get the screens to render correctly, making me think there's something unique with full screen mode that is causing the issue.   There seems to me to be quite a bit of memory issues
with this version.
I have a beast of a graphics card, 32gb of RAM, and a fast SSD, so don't think its the machine.
Thoughts?

Hi,
Does this happen to other applications?
If it's specific to Outlook, consider to check the hardware acceleration option:
Go to FILE tab -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Disable hardware graphics acceleration, turn this option on or off to check the result.
If the issue persists, please also consider whether any 3rd-party add-ins are interfering with Outlook, we can start Outlook in Safe Mode:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If there's no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which caused the problem.

Looking for a fix:  Elements v.11 has a photo mail problem with Microsoft Outlook mail, even when Outlook is designated the defaul e-mail program in Windows internet.
Is there a fix??  Thanks.

Dear Mdm/Sir,
I've a problem on Microsoft outlook 2010 with service pack 2.
Sometime it cannot send out email, the email will stuck at outbox.  It only work after you restart the outlook and resend.
I've add the 2 email account into this Outlook profiles and running at Windows 7 professional Operating system.
I've try run the Outlook into safe mode, but it can't solve the problem too.
I also create a new email profile and user profile, but still cannot solve the problem.
Please help,
Thank you,

Can you please check onto the Exchange server, the Outbox folder size and Items in it. Use the below command to verify the Outbox folder.
Get-MailboxFolderStatistics -Identity <Alias> -FolderScope Outbox
Look out for ItemsInFolder and FolderSize. If it displays content in it, you would need to remove the emails from the Outbox Folder. The Outbox folder can be accessed from the OWA light version.

• Firefox causing problems with web pages and Yahoo

Firefox has been causing problems with:
Yahoo: no matter how many times I reset the font size, it is always much bigger. Also the "From" box (where my name and email address appear) has shrunk;
This does not happen in Chrome
A particular website has suddenly stopped working: http://explore.org/#!/live-cams/player/kitten-rescue-cam
Instead of seeing what is going on on the live cam, all I get is a green screen.
This does not happen in Chrome.
I have followed all the instructions:
- Reset Firefox
- Disabled and re-enabled add-ons
And yet this has solved nothing. Iam now having to run both Firefox and Chrome at the same time. This is highly frustrating. I like Firefox better than Chrome but problems are mounting up and I do need help.
Has any one got some idea what is going on?
Many thanks...
Anna

Hi
Thank you for your input. I did try Font size, reset, zoom... the lot and nopes it did nothing. As I said the problem is in Firefox, not in Chrome.
I also checked the plug-ins issue and it seems they are in order and up to date.
Now this morning, the website has been working again in Firefox (was working ok in Chrome).
Overall Firefox's performance with some websites is poor. My health report confirms the number of times it crushes (many times a day, which is highly frustrating). I am keen to keep Firefox as it is so mcuh nicer in many ways than Chrome but it's performance is an issue for me... sigh...

• Firefox 6.0.1 causes extreme problems with ATI Catalyst 10.x drivers on a Win7 x64 system. When I roll back to Firefox 6.0, no problems. Can this be resolved?

Firefox 6.0.1 causes extreme problems with ATI Catalyst 10.x drivers on a Win7 x64 system. Took me quite awhile to identify, but when I roll back to Firefox 6.0, no problems. Once Firefox recognizes this and reinstalls the 6.0.1 update then severe display driver problems occur causing very erratic display behavior and ultimately rendering the system inoperative. The problem appears to occur within a minute or two after Firefox has been opened and it occurs even if Firefox has been subsequently closed prior to the actual event taking place. I have attempted this 6 times just to ensure that the problem was associated with the 6.0.1 update.

NoScript has served me well for a number of years. Now it keep causing problems even when turned off. I have had to remove it. My operating system is Windows 7 and Firefox is up to date. • How do I prevent Firefox from locking up when I click on "Save As" under the "File" menu (resetting Firefox didn't solve the problem)?

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium OS on Dell XPS 420 system. Firefox locks up each time I click on "Save As" under the "File" menu. Resetting Firefox did NOT solve the problem. If, instead of using Firefox, I log on to a website using Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer, the "Save As" feature works fine, as it should. I would occasionally like to save a web page, using "Save As" while using Firefox, instead of copying the page to a Word Document, and then saving it.

Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

• Firefox won't let me attach my Microsoft Office to my hotmail email account!

Firefox won’t let me attach my Microsoft Office document to my hotmail email account!

You are in the right area, this is the support forum.
You should not make the profile read only, that will cause problems, for instance you will not be able to change settings or add bookmarks.
Before you go any further try to make a copy of the current profile including the sub folders and files, and any accessible previous profile. (For instance are you using a disk image of the hdd prior to it being wiped, does that have the old profile on it) this suggestion is made because some of that information is likely to be useful, but is being put at risk of being deleted or overwritten.
Have a look at
*preferences are not saved
* and backing up your information
A potential problem is that you may have tried to restore from a Windows backup, they do not always work, and may need another clean re-install, but note do NOT delete the profile it is the program files that may need deleting.
Try the following in this order, testing after each stage
# return the profile settings to their standard privileges
# use firefox in safe mode<br/> no need to make changes in the options dialogue window, just click on continue
# try a new profile
#* see Basic Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile_8-make-a-new-profile
# back up your profiles (see above) then try a clean reinstall http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall
