Firefox 3.6 and future add-on updates of Password Manager

Hello to all Thinkpad users,
I am starting this thread in order to encourage you people who are using lenovo's fingerprint reader with Password manager add-on for  Firefox.
Firefox 3.6 is just around a corner, and we are left in dark without an update of compatible Firefox add-on.
The previous thread "Firefox  3.5 PM compatibility  Saga" is not an encouraging
reading.
However I hope all of you interested in Password Manager Update for Firefox 3.6  will reply to this thread and make it even longer than "Firefox  3.5 PM compatibility  Saga", so finally we'll be heard by lenovo and we'll get an update.
P.S. I am not a fan of conspiracy theories but this looks like an MS obstruction

For a variety of reasons not involving the Password Manager, I'm still using Firefox 3.0.x.
As I understand it, the Lenovo Firefox PM extension uses, in addition to the usual Javascript files, a custom DLL executable to interface with the PM. Usually such binary extension DLLs also are built for a specific version of the Firefox toolkit XPCOM programming interface, which has changed between the firefox 3.0.x and 3.5.x lines of development, hence simply manually editing the Firefox version numbers found in the install.rdf file in C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution\PWM FireFox Extension probably won't work.
This really needs serious attention from Lenovo! Firefox 3.5.x has been released for months already.
I use the Firefox Password Manager, encrypting my online passwords with a Firefox master password: the Firefox password recognition and storage is better than Lenovo's. What I really want, is an option in the Lenovo Firefox PM extension that just prompts me for my fingerprint when the Firefox master password dialog appears, not for every website password!

  • Firefox 19 Beta and the Latest Acobat updates Broke PDF Printer

Details at Bugzilla:  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=837369  (Not Responding Error)
In a netshell, in FF 19 beta I can only now create PDF's if I do it from the Print Preview Pane.
In the previous FF update prior to FF 19, PDF printing was sporatic, BUT I could usually print to PDF if after choosing the fiename to print to, and minimizing Firefox.
It appears that the Dialog "Creating Adobe PDF" is being blocked and hidden.

Yea, I know it does appear to be a hit or miss situation and, for me, mostly miss.  The "Creating Adobe PDF" window gets really burried.
Sometimes it never, ever completes, but the document does.  Other times it will appear just as you Kill Firefox.  Somtimes the docuament names are even wrong.
In short, it's really messed up.
There is Firefox doing things, Windows doing things, Distiller doing things and they really all need to be on top, but not on top of each other.  I think Firefox is monopolizing the desktop.
It's painfully obvious that the PDF prnter file dialog should come to the front automatically and it doesn;t.  It hasn't for a while.  Again, Firefox wins.
Notice that when you move some of the Adobe dialogs, the Firefox screen underneath leaves holes.

  • New Apple TV and future firmware/os updates ?

It might be a basic question, but I am very new to apple tv device. The new apple Tv model looks good and have plans to purchase one. What I wanted to know is, does it support new firmware/os/iTunes updates ? the way ipod touch/ iphone supports. For example if new movie websites (as of now youtube and netflix) are introduced in coming apple tv versions , then is that possible that I can also update to get such new features ?
    If Yes, how to ?

Hi, i recently factory reset my apple tv (1st gen), and do software update.
it successfully goes to firmware 3.0.2. and said its updated and no more updates available.
whats confuse me is, that in Remote 2.0 apps for iphone/ipad, stated the remote will work with apple tv 1st gen using OS 3.1.2 ?
Now.. how the heck im updating to os 3.1.2 on my atv if it says its updated already!? many thanks

  • "Checking Compatability of Add-ons" Update window at each startup & redirects to a welcome page. Tried disabling all add-ons & updates / force compatability checker. Thoughts?

Each time I start Firefox a "Checking Compatibility of Add-ons" update window appears, which redirects me to a welcome to Firefox 5.0 page with my normal home page in another tab. I tried disabling all add-ons and updates as well as the force compatibility checker. I think my AVG safe-search bar might be causing the problem, but I have it disabled and never use it. Please help me get rid of this.

  • Firefox3 and Password Manager

I've been waiting to upgrade to Firefox3 untill the Password Manager worked with it.
Today System Update promised me such a feature.  I installed Firefox3, downloaded the patch
to make Password Manager work with it, installed it and hoped.  Vain hope . . .
When I tried to login to the Lenovo Community it didn't fill in my name or password.  I can access
the Password Manager from within Firefox3, and it shows this address as one of its sites.
Also, after it didn't fill in the responses for me, it didn't ask me if I wanted to save them.
    Apparently I rushed to judgement.

2 Gb RAM - 80 Gb Toshiba 5400rpm HDD - Win XP Pro

Bob, thanks for your update.  Based on your success, I attempted to download FF3 again and finally achieved success this morning.  The method I had to go though was as follows:
Disabled the ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0 add-on within FF2
    Unintalled FF2
Tried to install CSS Patch for FF3 provided by Lenovo on 8/6/08 found here, but received feedback that patch had already been installed, which is a true statement:CSS Patch for FF3
    Installed FF3 (3.0.3)
Noted that the ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0 add-on was greyed out and could not be enabled - I thought the patch was supposed to address this!!
Had to work through this process found at: Password Manager incompatible with Firefox 3
Find tvtpwm_moz_xpi.xpi in Client Security Solution install directory (C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution)
Open it using your fav zip program (I used 7-Zip)
    Change install.rdf and update <em:maxVersion>2.0+</em:maxVersion> to <em:maxVersion>3.0+</em:maxVersion>
    Open chrome/tvtpwm.jar
Edit content/tvtpwm.js and replace window.addEventListener("load", onLoad, true); with following:
    window.addEventListener("load", function () { gBrowser.addEventListener("load", onLoad, true); }, false);
Install tvtpwm_moz_xpi.xpi. Go to Firefox's 'File' menu, select 'Open File', navigate to your directory containing the file (in my case, it's 'C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution'), and select it. This will bring up the "Add-ons" installer. Click install and restart Firefox when prompted.
So far, I have had no issues with auto population of username/password.  I went through this exact same process multiple times in the past without success.  Now, I am wondering if the latest rev. of FF3 (3.0.3) has allowed for better stability with the password manager.  I still do not understand what the CSS Patch for FF3 was supposed to ever do.  In my opinion, it should have performed what I had to perform manually above.
Question:  When I look at my add-ons, the ThinkVantage Password Manager still shows "2.0".  It works fine, but should this have changed to 3.0?

  • I can't update my application manager.

I have a one year commitment with Adobe and I can't update my application manager to download another program that I need. How can I solve this problem? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Which operating system are you on? Which program are you trying to download and is it listed in AAM? I ask because Premiere Pro and After Effects only run on 64-bit systems and Lightroom will not run on Windows XP.
If you are on a 64-bit system running Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.6.8 or greater than here are the steps to re-install AAM.
Run the Adobe Cleaner Tool and remove the Creative Cloud Installer part of the Adobe Application Manager (AAM). I have posted the steps here with screen shots:
    Mac OS X: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4726312#4726312#4726312#4726312
    Windows: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4726414#4726414#4726414
Then download and install AAM again using this link http://www.adobe.com/applicationmanagerpatch/index.html.
You should then be able to download and install the program you need.

  • Update to Password needed

I am unable to send any emails from my Blackberry, and the following appeared:  update the password for "email address" in the Blackberry Internet Service.  However, when I enter my password, I get an error.
Any ideas?  Customer Service is closed

Try changing the password.  The steps are below.  Hope this helps.
Using the BlackBerry Internet Service web site
Go to your wireless service provider’s BlackBerry Internet Service web site and log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account.
    Click Password.
In the Change Password and Confirm Password fields, type your new password. Note: Passwords are case sensitive and must be between 6-16 characters in length. Please create a strong password that cannot be easily guessed by others (e.g. by including punctuation marks, numbers, capital and lowercase letters, and which does not include your name or account name etc.), and maintain its confidentiality.
    Click Save.

  • T510 Thinkvantage password manager and hotmail

The thinkvantage password manager seems to recognize passwords in some sites but not others.  Most notably, no matter what I do, it does not seem to recognize hotmail, so no option ever comes up to add the hotmail password to the password manager when I log in to hotmail.
Does anyone know how to make password manager recognize the password field in hotmail?  Is there any way to manually add a website to password manager?  I can seem to find one.

    Hello mate,
Password manager doesn't work with Hotmail. Probably a compatibility problem. You can't do much about that, you can create a scratch pad if your are afraid to forgot your password but that's almost it.

  • Firefox keeps stalling and crashing; Adobe plug-in has been updated, but still says it's "out of date" on my add-in page...

I don't have any "out of the norm" add-ons...
I recently experienced Firefox continuously crashing whenever I try to attach a PDF to an e-mail in Yahoo (not a large file size - about 300kb). I checked my add-ons to see if there was an issue there, and noticed there was a message stating "Adobe Acrobat is known to be vulnerable and should be updated message", even though I thought I had already updated it.
I went ahead and re-downloaded anyhow... it successfully installs, and then I still get the same error message.
Furthermore, this issue was recently added on top of my Firefox already running slow and crashing... I often clear my cache and have tried running in safe-mode as well, although this doesn't allow me full capabilities...
The only thing that seems to be different is the issue with the Adobe Add-on and a recent Java update. Are there instabilities in these?
How do I fix the issue with Adobe? I need to be able to upload, download, and view PDFs...

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:

Firefox shut down & updated in the middle of my work; I could not restore my session; you have literally cost me my job and future if this cannot be fixed. I don't understand why it updated without me prompting it to. It also never ask to report a crash.
I went to play a youtube video, my entire screen flashed, when the screen came back, the youtube video screen was green. I refreshed the page and my system stopped- a blue screen appeared and something about verifying disk or something. My system the restarted, and when I opened firefox, it first said preparing updates and when it did finally open, the new updated version, of course, I could not restore my previous session.

You can check in the Firefox profile folder to see if there are numbered sessionstore-##.js present.<br />
The sessionstore.bak file could also have a previous session.

I just ran the plugin updater, no problem.
Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift ''(Mac Options)'' >''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
Go to the web page. Once the page is loading, mouse to the address bar
and '''Left''' click the icon. A window for displaying site information should
come up. Select '''More Information.''' Now select '''Permissions.''' In the

This action will only effect that one site.

Thanks, Fred. Tried that and tried it again, restarting between attempts. No dice. Firefox still wants to download both every time. I can even apply my license to Download Helper. It runs while Firefox is open, but tries to reinstall DLH next time I open Firefox.

  • 26 Aug 2010: auto update to Java 6.0.621 has stopped Firefox working. I used Add/Remove to remove the update and Firefox launched and displayed the website I was at (UK's Postal Museum) when the auto-update happened. What should do?

I recently updated to Firefox 3.6.8. During the install routine I thought I had said OK to the process of automatically updating associated addons so when the Postal Museum prompted for an update to a new release of Java I let it happen. Tried to launch it from Start/Programs/Mozilla/Firefox. Same eggtimer. (Running WindowsXP on a middle-aged desktop).
