Firefox 3.6 on Mac - I update as available and last version installed about November. Week before Xmas it just stopped retrieving pages - just says "done" in the message bar but no page. I downloaded latest version to reinstall but it refused to install over the old copy: message said "item XUL in use". I trashed the app file and reinstalled from the new installer, same problem. Trashed the prefs file - now when I try to open firefox the message says "a copy of firefox already open". Have rebooted and tried again but same message. Safari isn't that bad but I like firefox. Help!

yes - I have the same issue on four different people's new MacBook Pro's on 10.6.4. I have deleted the Profiles numerous times, but the issue still occurs at least once every two weeks.

Hmm that does sound a bit strange - I use a system quite similar to yours (XP, FF 3.6.3), and don't see this behaviour.
I would recommend trying to start Firefox in Firefox [[Safe Mode]] (make sure you close '''all''' running Firefox instances first), and see if this problem persists.
If not, it could be some add-on causing this behaviour - restart Firefox in Safe Mode, disable all add-ons, and enable them one by one to find the guilty one.
If it still happens in Firefox Safe Mode, some other program (or something in Windows itself) most likely is the cause. We may be able to help with this too, so let us know what works and provide as much additional information as possible to let us help you solve this.

okay george, I'll try to help you
1-download yahoo messenger. save the .dmg file to your desktop or downloads, wherever your downloaded files go. Double click on it after it has downloaded and it should open up. (ah, I see-i checked out the youtube video on how to install it). then read the terms and conditions, click on agree, then drag the app (the smiley face) to the Applications folder (the square, as you call it), then it should copy it to the Applications folder. Then right or control click on the open yahoo messenger .dmg thing, and choose Eject, which should eject it into the trash. You are done installing Yahoo Messenger. click your hard drive icon on the right top of your screen and move to the Applications folder. Yahoo Messenger should be there. If you need quick access to it, or use it a lot, you can drag a copy to the dock....
Why are things so difficult? it's good to be curious, george. Might I suggest booking some time at the Apple store, or if you can afford to, pay for some one-to-one training

I would select a link from the drop down on the address bar but the page would not open. I would select it again but the page does not open. I could only reach website by selecting google on most visited list.

Is the report in another browser window or different application?
In the General Safari Preferences there are options for link behavior.
What type of file are the reports in? html, pdf, .xls ?
What website? Is it internal at your work?
etc.
I am sure someone can help with just one or two bits of extra info.

Try this:
1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

Outlook 2011 for Mac stops retrieving new e-mail

I have both Outlook 2011 for Mac and Apple Mac tied to the same Gmail account via IMAP. After a few hours, Outlook stops retrieving new e-mail while Apple Mail continues retrieving new e-mail with no problem. I've already deleted the Gmail account from Outlook and recreated it. What could be causing this? Should Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac be re-installed? Does Outlook 2011 create a log during the e-mail send/receive process that I can review?

Reader won't work- blank page and says "done"

I can't get reader to show any documents from websites. It says downloading but then says done with a blank page. I have windows xp and ie.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled and rebooted a few times. Everything from Adobe help pages seems ok.

* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

When i try to use firefox the browser wouldnt let me surf the web and it doesnt say any error it just says done loading but other browsers will let me use the web

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

Comes up with a blank page and says done at the bottom. Have tried to clear cookies and cashe, doesn't help.

when I go to web site it says on the bottom bar waiting for stockhouse.com after a period of time it gives me a blank page and the bottom bar says done.While I am waiting for it to come up I can open internet explore and go to the same web site and connect with out problem.I have used Firefox for years but this is causing me to use internet explorer more than I want to. "Some users have reported" is a mild way to put it. To answer your question "or is the software just not as good as 4.3?" more directly... it's only better in transparency between platforms. Oh, one other improvement- it DOES run faster, but then of course it would since it's so much more lightweight.

Some website will not load when their new tab comes up, just a blank page that says done on the bottom

Sometimes Firefox can access a website, then other times it says cannot connect to server, but it must be able to connect otherwise I wouldn't be able to go on at all! It's not the website, because loads of other people use it too. Help?!

Sometimes Firefox lets me get onto websites, then othertimes it says it cannot connect to the server, even though it must be able to because it wouldn't let me go on at all. It's becoming really annoying and I really need to use the websites.

Adobe Form's First Page printing perfectly on 132 column sheet but further pages prints with small font size

Dear All,
We are facing a strange behavior of adobe form.
we made form for SAP CRM which is printing in 132 column(28cm * 33cm) sheet. what we are observing is, first page is printing perfectly on the pre printed Invoice sheet but if invoice has more items to be displayed then second page prints with small font size or you can say second page seems to be zoomed out to smaller page size. In Preview Second page onwards also looks perfect. Now we are in a fix what to do to come out of this issue.

Adobe Page Size Adjusted.
Select paper Source by Page Size ticked in Adobe form properties
But still result is non satisfactory. Please Help.

a) The size of the pages of PDF which you are printing. LETTER
b) Does all pages of the PDF are of same size? YES
c) What is the page size set in the Printer and what is the actual size of the paper which you have put in the tray? LETTER
d) Does this problem also happens on the virtual printer which you might have on your system (Try either Microsoft MPS Document writer or Adobe PDF Printer) No VIRTUAL PRINTERS
