It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. You do not want to remove the program directory with a Mac because Firefox is most likely installed in the system Applications directory which is where the system applications are stored.
Have you tried removing the Firefox plist file from your user library? I have Mac OS 10.6.8 as well, and that file is at /Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences. Close Firefox and remove that file, then start Firefox again.

I had same problem where Firefox 3.6.8 would not start or open. Spent many hours trying different things to fix it. Uninstall of previous version and reinstall did not make any difference. Finally, after uninstalling Firefox, I searched for Firefox folders and files on my computer, deleted and removed all Firefox folders and files - deleted anything and everything related to Firefox so that it will be as if I was going to download Firefox for the first time ever. Then, using another browser, I downloaded Firefox 3.6.8 and installed it. It could be that some Add-Ons or something else from the older version of Firefox or profile was interfering with the new one. It was easier to delete remove everything and install all over again clean than to figure out which part was causing the problem.
Keep in mind, when you delete all Firefox folders and files from your computer, you are deleting all your bookmarks and all your Add-ons. If you want to keep those bookmarks, you might want to save the URLs someplace safe to bookmark them again before deleting them. You need to re-install the Add-ons also. Upon installation, it asks if you want to import bookmarks and settings from another browser or settings you might have. I imported them from my other browser. Now, Firefox works. I also installed up-to-date Add-ons.
I hope this helps. Always keep more than one browser functioning on your computer, just in case one fails.

I've had Firefox installed on this computer for a couple of years, but only really started using this computer in the last 6 months. Originally Firefox 14, then Firefox 17.0.01, then finally 19.0
It crashed yesterday on starting, I uninstalled and reinstalled and same issue. I regressed back through version 17.0.0.1 and Firefox 14. I updated Shockwave, Flash, Java. I also uninstalled Divx, AC3 and Adobe Reader (recent installs/updates)
Updated MIcrosoft security essentials and ran a scan, no issues discovered. Updated and ran Superantispyware and found 1 Trojan which I removed.
Crash reporter comes up as soon as the firefox link is actioned. Can start firefox in Safemode.

please start firefox in safemode (by pressing the shift-key while it is launching) & go to ''firefox > options > advanced > general'' & disable hardware acceleration.

How do I pin a firefox site to the Windows 8 start screen?

I just got a new AIO with windows 8; not may favorite thing but I'm learning.
I use Firefox as my browser exclusively but Window 8 help, of course, won't explain how to pin sites through other browsers. I had to set up my desktop on my start screen so I can open Firefox from there and then I can start browsing with Firefox - but there has to be an easier way....I've tried to search through the Firefox support but I'm an accountant, not a techie and this is getting very frustrating. lol I hope someone can explain to me how to do this. And in very small words please - remember I'm bean-counter. :)

I had this hotmail issue myself a while back. I Googled, scanned MS website, scanned MSN website, visited forums, couldn't figure it out. I tried Firefox and Opera and even changed the Opera mask setting from Opera to Internet Explorer. Nothing worked. My best guess was that I was signing on (with the new MSN Live as opposed to MSN Hotmail - the OLD interface) with the "Remember me on this computer?" box checked. I now make sure it is un-checked (which is not the default) and hotmail lets me in.
Not exactly sure if that is the real remedy, but thot I'd throw the story your way just in case...

Firefox 3.6.3 crashes at start-up. I'm very frustrated with Firefox. I've researched through out the forum posts and tried everything I've found about FF not starting. A previous version of FF was running OK then one day when I tried using FF again and it now crashes at start-up. It will not start period. If I didn't need FF for this one particular application then I would just use another browser. I've been looking for a solution for this problem for many many weeks. Someone please help.

FF is crashing on my computer with only one tab open and is running slow.....pauses for about 30 seconds when I close FF. Annoying.

I have the same problem. Firefox won't unload regardless of how long I wait. Literally hours ... I must go in and 'end the process'. This has been a real hassle for a while now. Even considered giving up on firefox. Please look into this! An additional problem; I have to run firefox to get the updates, but I can't get the updates to take because I can't get firefox to unload so I can restart it.

Try doing a reset on the iPad..... Hold the Home button and top on/off button at the same time for about 10 seconds until you see the apple logo. Ignore the red slider until the apple appears, then let go of the buttons. The iPad will reset, and after it resets you can try the contacts app again.

Have to click on firefox icon more than once to start the programme

Sometimes I have to click on Firefox icon more than once to start the programme. Multi-clicking on the icon does not always start multiple windows ie the programme just isn't starting sometimes on 1st click.
Firefox always opens when using a hyperlink in an email, document etc.

First let me disclose that I am not an expert nor even much less. However I used to have this slow as a turtle opening of FF until I got rid of my antivirus software which at the time was Avast. I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials and have had no problems since. FF loads in 3 to 4 seconds!

Anyways, it was feeling slow today, and was constantly hanging, so I decided to run '''firefox.exe -safe-mode''' from the start menu. When I looked at the task manager, it showed that Minefield (the old name for nightly builds) was trying to run. I didn't even know I had Minefield, as I reinstalled Nightly after they changed the branding (around 5.0-6.0 nightly builds). My question is: How do I change the default '''firefox.exe''' to point to '''C:\Program Files (x86)\ux\firefox.exe''' and/or how do I resolve that error?

I don't know about the error message you got but that is not the way to start a different version of Firefox -- include the pathname. And if you are trying to share a profile that is bad also as you could damage a profile, though Mozilla does try to avoid damaging, you should not mix the production version profile with one of a beta unless you are looking to create/solve additional problems for those that inadvertently do that. What does the UX stand for after 10.a1

Go to START then ALL PROGRAMS then find MOZILLA FIREFOX, right click on it, select SEND TO, and select DESKTOP(CREATE SHORTCUT).
