Firefox 3 Support

Hi.
Just notice the latest release candidate still does not support firefox 3. Is anyone aware of any plans to include this for the final release.

Mwdunlop,
If firefox fixed the bugs Novell reported, it would have happened
already...

I just downloaded Firefox 5 and it said that my Yahoo toolbar will not work with it. Is this true? If so I will not use this new version and will switch to another browser if Firefox stops supporting the Yahoo toolbar. Thank you.

Add-ons contain a range of compatible Firefox versions, and Firefox honors the listed range by disabling the add-on if you are trying to run it on an unlisted version.
I'm sure Yahoo! will update its toolbar eventually, but not every add-on maker supports beta versions of software.

  • Does Firefox 4 support remote Javascript debugger?

I have used ChromeDevTools Eclipse plugin and V8 debugger protocol for remote Javascript debugging with Chrome browser.
Does Firefox 4 support remote Javascript debugger?
If then, is there a client tool like ChromeDevTools plugin?
    Thanks in advance.

Symantec have made an update for their add-ons to work in Firefox 4, but they only listed them as compatible with Firefox 4.0, they need to update them to let them work in Firefox 4.0.1. Simple question, does Firefox OS support the use of VPN's? If not is it a feature that will be added? And if so, when?

Thank you for your interest and for purchasing a device! The bug reported has went through some employees. I'm sure that we'll get something done shortly.

  • Which was the last version of Firefox that Supported Java Platform 6 ?

I want to know the the last version of Firefox that Supported Java Platform 6 update 45 (Java SE Runtime Environment 6u45) ?
In other words which version of firefox started support for Java 7 ?

Please also give links to the problem pages if they are public so that we and others may test them. You could also consider contacting the sites concerned directly yourself.
Using Java can raise security concerns, and especially so using outdated versions.

  • Why does Firefox not support Trusteer Rapport to download?

Trusteer website states that Firefox does not support Rapport.

It's not up the Firefox to support Trusteer Rapport, they need to support Firefox - and they do! But you're using a Beta, pre-release version that they choose not to support.
Install the Firefox 34 Release version and it should work fine.

  • What version of firefox will support mp4 video tags without plug ins or extensions?

I have a web site that my users upload mp4 videos to my website. I use html 5 and use the video tags type movie/mp4.
The only browser that has worked without any add ins, plug ins or extensions is safari 4.x and safari 5.x with quicktime. What version of firefox will support playing mp4 videos without any add ins or extensions?

That will probably not happen if there are codecs used that require a license.

  • Does Firefox OS support carddav, and tasks in caldav?

I manage a lot of my day-to-day life on an instance of ownCloud which I access on the desktop using Thunderbird with Lightning, and on Android using various DAV apps. I'm thinking of switching to Firefox OS, but I need to know if the caldav calendar in Firefox OS supports tasks? Also, while we're on the subject, does Firefox OS support carddav as well?

Firefox does support CalDav for the calendars. You can configure the calendar using caldav following these instructions [[Adding calendars on Firefox OS]] . As for CardDav, the support, it is still not available. It is under consideration, and you could request for adding this feature by voting on this bug [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=859306 CardDav support in FirefoxOS]
    Hope that helps.

  • Why does firefox drop support for a plugin with an update

Why the H*ll does Firefox drop support for a plugin when there is an update in Firefox.
FF4 has reported that 6 of my plugins that work fine in 3.6 are now not supported. !! This is a joke, and happens regularly.
As a user (a highly IT literate one) this is annoying and frustrating, and from a design standpoint, unprofessional.

Plugins as in Flash, Java, quicktime or such or do you mean Extensions ?
Plenty of Plugins seems to be detected and in use by Firefox 4.0 just fine according to your system details by your post.
If you meant Extensions then check for updates, look at addons.mozilla.org or the Extension homepage for to see if the author has provided a update.
Generally Extensions can need anywhere from a simple maxversion bump to a lot more for it to work properly on a new Major version of Firefox depending on what the Extension does.
It is professional actually as extensions that were not actually compatible may actually cause problems big or small if they were to still just ''work'' in a new Major version release so hence the need for them to be properly up to date on any changes and hopefully the extension author is quick about it.

  • Will Firefox 4 support autoconfig (aka Mission Control)?

I am interested in configuring Firefox for users and locking down certain settings. It appears that the folder referenced in http://mit.edu/~firefox/www/maintainers/autoconfig.html is not present on the Firefox 4 Beta install.
Will Firefox 4 support autoconfig, and if so will updated documentation be posted for that when Firefox 4.0 is released?

  • What previous versions of firefox is supported with the upgrade to 6.0

What versions of Firefox are supported by Mozilla at the moment
Do you only actively support 3.6 and 6.*

Yes, according to this link: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing%20a%20previous%20version%20of%20Firefox , version 3.6 is the only version, aside from the current version (6 now, soon to be 7) that is still being actively maintained.
Feel free to ask questions about any version though, and people will do their best to help.

  • Does Firefox OS support Bluetooth 4.1?

Firefox OS devices currently on sale only come with Bluetooth 2.1 or 3.0, but I was wondering if Firefox OS supports version 4.1?
Will Firefox OS plan on supporting any of the new Bluetooth protocols in the future?
    Bluetooth Smart, Low Energy, BLE

    Hi dleggo,
It will be longer than that until version 2.2 is available on commercial devices available for purchase in stores. After the Code Complete date, our partners spend time doing certification and optimizing for specific devices, before it's launched on commercial devices.
However, it's possible to compile and flash the code onto rooted devices, if you are technically savvy. The Flame Reference device is the best one for this, since it's the same one used by developers at Mozilla.

  • SLCM BSP Applications and Firefox 2 Support

    Hi,
I have looked through the Web browser support grid in the NW 7 documentation from the Product Availability Matrix, and also have read note #598860. From these I was unable to infer what the current and future status of Firefox 2 support is for the SLCM BSP applications, especially PIQ_AUDIT (and the Advisor UI that is supposed  to be available).
Is there any definitive source of information about Firefox support in SLCM 6.x? (Firefox 2 support is broken for the PIQ_AUDIT application in SLCM 4.72, and I need to make sure that students with this browser can use PIQ_AUDIT for self-service in SLCM 6.x.)
    Thanks,
    Eric
P.S. I saw the information about how Safari is treated as IE 6. But, it would be nice to know explicitly that this browser is fully supported as well.

Note #598860 has apparently been updated, and Firefox >= 2.0 is considered officially supported for DESIGN2003-based BSP applications.
Chances for official Safari support do not look good however.

  • Why does Firefox not support flash in Vista any more?

I have a laptop with Vista on it and all year long I have had a hell of a time putting up with the new glitches in Firefox.
I simply want the damn thing to be able to use the flash plugin. Every single ******* time Firefox updates, I lose the ability to view flash content. Clicking on the "install missing plugins" logo takes me through *seemingly* successful installs, but it doesn't really install and the next time I load firefox it still says "click here to install missing plugin."
I have also downloaded the executable from adobe and run that (as an administrator, with firefox closed out) and I still get a *successful* installation that results in total failure, e.g. it's still not installed.
Several firefoxes ago I found a website where I could download the two files needed (the dll and the other file) and I manually placed them in the plugins folder which allowed me to use flash until the damn update to the next firefox release wiped it out. The place I downloaded those files from no longer hosts them, so I'm SOL.
Please either start to support Vista again, or declare that you aren't going to. I'm sick and tired of firefox nowadays, even though I've been using it since before version 1.1.
Please, please, please just fix this problem.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually. '''''You do not have the Plugin version installed in Firefox; if you did, you would see "Shockwave Flash (version)" in Add-ons > Plugins.'''''
#'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#Direct link ActiveX version for IE '''''only''''': http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
<u>NOTE: You no longer need to place Flash components in the Mozilla Firefox\plugins folder. Doing so, will leave you with an outdated plugin and a possible conflict between competing versions of the Plugin.</u> Most current plugins are recognized by/installed into Firefox through Windows registry entries. In a clean installation of current Firefox versions, the plugins folder is no longer created in the Mozilla Firefox program application folder. However, the folder can be created and any plugins placed there will be used. It is best not to have the plugins folder unless absolutely necessary to make a particular plugin work.
You can get both versions on the following page, but there is no link directly to it. Click on item ''6. Download and install Adobe Flash Player (Firefox)'' near the top of the page, then scroll down to "Advanced Troubleshooting" just following the Firefox information; the links are in item 1 under that heading:
