Firefox 30 causing GSOD in OSX

Ever since updating to FireFox 30 a few days ago, I have been getting the GSOD in OSX Mavericks, 10.9.3.
It appears to be tied to running a Java applet from within FireFox, but it's not reproducible at will.
Not sure how FF and/or Java can take down OSX, but the first GSOD happened within 10 minutes of upgrading to FF 30, and it just happened this morning downloading software from IBM using their Java Download Director.
I had this problem previously and have since wiped the hard drive and completely reinstalled OSX and reinstalled my applications from scratch. It was fine for 3 weeks until FF 30 came along, now it's doing the GSOD with alarming frequency and seems to be tied to FF usage again.
This is on a late 2013 15" MBPr, 16GB/500GB SSD. The computer passes all Apple diagnostics, survives Prime95, and a few hours of running Memtest86 so I don't think this is a hardware problem. I have no add-ons or extensions loaded into Firefox either.
Seems similar to this problem:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/999218

Yep, Flash and Java are up to date. Java 7 Update 60. Flash 14.0.0.125
Even so, I'm kinda peeved that a browser can cause a GSOD. I haven't had a BSOD on any of my Windows boxes in years, and getting these recurrent GSOD's on OSX is annoying.
Hopefully FF or Java fix whatever the (#&$!! is causing this soon!

Whenever I've had issues with FF after an update, it is normally an Add-On that is not playing nice.
My most recent problem was Firefox not responding right at launch.
I created a new profile and it worked right away.

• My wordpress home page will not display any active information in Firefox 15 on Mac OSX Lion.

Hey All,
I've tried many things to resolve this issue, but none of them seem to be working. For some time now I have not been able to see the homepage of wordpress.com with full information i.e. stats, notifications, etc. I'm running Firefox 15 on Mac OSX Lion with the following settings and add-ons. I've tried disabling the various privacy add-ons one-by-one to no avail. Please help!

The only active thing I see on that page is the banner near the top which keeps changing: "For the cat pictures", "For the poet", etc. Do you not see that? I did not see any link for "Home". Try these pages:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Websites_look_wrong
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load
Incidentally, it seems to me that you are using Mountain LIon, not Lion. Mac OS 10.8 is Mountain Lion.

Since updating to Firefox 4 on my OSX 10.5.8 mac Firefox will not go to any website. Firefox will launch but it won't load anything, the page is entirely blank - no home page loads - nothing. Also - It will not let me install any add ons. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. other apps such as Safari and Mail work as normal. I need Firefox - please help if you can. Thanks

You don't. Since you have an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.

• Firefox causes other windows to disappear visually

If I have a Firefox window open and then have another window up on top of it, sometimes the Firefox windows causes the other window to disappear and I have to minimize Firefox or the other window to bring it back up. Firefox is cause the other window to disappear only, it does shut it down. It seems like Firefox causing a memory issue, but I'm not the expert.

I am currently using Firefox 13; I'm on the Beta Update channel and get downloads as they're issued.  I remember having some problems with Firefox 12 and, in fact, earlier Beta versions which is why I stayed away from them.  However, Firefox 13 seems to be working OK.  You might try to find it at the Mozilla website.

• Does FireFox 4 work with OSX 10.5?

Does the new FireFox 4 work with OSX 10.5? I ask this because read in an article on Mac Rumors 22nd March 2011 that it does and I quote "Firefox 4.0 is of course a free download, with the Mac version requiring a minimum of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Firefox 4.0 is of course a free download, with the Mac version requiring a minimum of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard". Is this information correct?

Yes, it will work on OSX 10.5.8, but only with Intel processors.
For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

• Firefox causes my router to block google

As of yesterday firefox causes my router to block google. There is no problem with IE8 or chrome on my computer and no other computer on the network has the same problem. Can anyone help? router has no blocking facility enabled and no mac address filtering.

Firefox runs fine here on my 10.6.8 machine, what can occur because a lot of browser today are RAM hogs is that FF's menu will freeze.
If you close all browser windows, or command tab switch, you can then access the ForceQuit menu via the Finder or other program.
Hard restarts are not good for the machine, my suggestion is you run through this list of fixes
Uninstall all add-ons (some can cause a conflict) uninstall FF and reinstall, test FF in another account to see where the problem is located.
Software on Mac's are in three areas, OS X itself, Applications and User(s) accounts
#1 you replace OS X and update so it's clean of anything corrupted or defective
#2 you uninstall/reinstall the offending program + addons,
#3 you then consider it's  User account issue/program support file in that one particular user
Run through this fix it list, it covers everything.

• Just downloaded Firefox causes text of pages in all other programs to be exremely large and garish.

Firefox causes the text, icons, etc. of pages--including Firefox--to be very large and garish. The page is HUGE.

To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

• Firefox 12 crashes my OSX 10.7.4 system, even when Firefox is running in Safe Mode

Firefox 12 crashes unexpectedly. The whole OSX system hangs for unknown behaviors, i.e. opening new tab, selecting link, refreshing page, changing tab. It is non-specific or non-apparent. I also have frequent spinning color disks...sometimes they don't go away and the next mouse click hangs the system necessitating a hard reset.
My configuration:
Macbook Air, OSX 10.7.4, Firefox 12
I have one add-in: One Password 3.8.19. I have disabled this by running Firefox in safe mode but this has not helped.
My typical open application set is: Outlook 2011, Mail and Firefox (with multiple pinned app tabs). Sometimes I have VMWare Fusion 4.1.2 open running a Windows 7 VM but this is not correlated to the crashes.
I was using Trend Micro Smart Surfing for Mac and thought this might be the cause so I stopped running it. This had no positive impact so I conclude that it was not part of the problem.
My system knows it has crashed since following a hard reset, it reopens my previously open windows but no crash report is created or offered.
Safari does not crash the system.

I originally posted that, if you are able to run in Firefox Safe Mode but disabling your single Firefox extension doesn't help, the problem could be hardware acceleration, which you can turn off in your Firefox Advanced preferences, General tab. Ref: Troubleshooting extensions and themes
However, after re-reading your post, you said that the problem still occurs in Firefox Safe Mode. If Firefox is crashing or closing unexpectedly, there are some possible solutions here:
The only other suggestion would be to go through the Basic Troubleshooting steps.
