Firefox 31.6.0ESR updated to Firefox 37.0.1 -- How do I Revert?

My hard drive crashed and was replaced by a repairman who moved all the files but somehow 'updated' my Firefox 31.6.0esr to Firefox 37.0.1 (the About Firefox window shows 37 but the Update History shows last update as ESR ?!?).
This PC needs to be on the ESR channel.
How do I revert/convert/whatever back to ESR without losing the settings/add-ons/etc. for all the users?
FYI: This 'update' has broken a bunch of stuff:
* The Search Bar is now invisible. Already tried removing, re-adding, setting size, etc.
* Loading each page initiates an error message about a 'getter' and spawns new windows.
ALSO: I tried to attach an image of the issues and it kept hanging, even after creating a smaller version.
Since I can't attach the screenshots, please view them from my website:
http://sosayssunny.com/Firefox_Problems_2.png (Low-Res, 163 KB)
http://sosayssunny.com/Firefox_Problems.png (Full-Size, 291 KB)
Please help! (I'm already at wit's end about the hard drive crash. :-P )
Thanks!
~ Sunny (slightly overcast at the moment)

First, use the refresh Firefox feature to create a backup of your user profile.
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
# Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
#*Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
#*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
#At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
#Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
#Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Next, download Firefox ESR. Then uninstall Firefox and install Firefox ESR.
Last, follow the instructions in this article to restore your backed up profile: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
* Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
* Click the website favicon (Site Identity Button) on the left end of the location bar.
* Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
* Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
* Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
* If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

• I cannot refresh pages in firefox anymore since i updated to firefox 4.0

I cannot refresh pages. Not when I opened a file, nor when i have open a webpage.
When i want to refresh a file, i have to reopen it again.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload (Refresh) buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. For more details on customizing the toolbar see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar
You can also press F5 to reload a page.

Error code from Nokia suite after sync: 83910006 8d5e000a

Actually, it has nothing to do with locking to their network. That's a totally different problem altogether that's independent from the branding.
What's happening here is altering the firmware so that it contains Three's logo and links to some of their services in the menu. Plus maybe a few alterations to maintain compatibility with the network, although they should be minor since unbranded phones will work on Three.
The trouble with making these alterations to updated firmware is that it takes time and therefore money to do it, and they get nothing in return. That's why it's such a low priority for network operators to approve updates.

• Some coupon sites aren't compatible with Firefox 4 so I can't print needed coupons. How can I revert to the old version of Firefox?

When I try to print coupons at coupons.com and target.com, just to name two, I get a message saying they "We're unable to support coupon printing on your system at this time. • I downloaded Firefox 4 which my iBook G4 does not support. How can I revert to the earlier version of Firefox?

A box showed up that said "this architecture does not support Firefox 4." Firefox was no longer available on my laptop. Leopard is my OS. (Highest it will go)

Do you recall whether your iBook G4 could run Firefox 3.6? If so, you can download it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you were using 3.5 or earlier, finding it is a bit trickier.
You probably want to backup your profile folder before uninstalling Firefox 4. See Backing up your information | How to | Firefox Help.

• Norton and Comcast tool bars were disabled when I updated to Firefox v4. When will this be fixed?

After installing Firefox v4 my Comcast and Norton tool bars were disabled, Firefox could not find an update and deemed them not compatible with v4. Do you have any information on getting this corrected. Right now I have no protection from Norton when using the internet via Firefox.

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
You will need to contact Comcast about their plans to make their toolbar compatible with Firefox 4.
If you want to downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

• Preventing a downloaded update for Firefox

locking as a duplicate - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/886499
Lets say, Firefox ignored your autoupdate settings, and wants to update anyway, like here:
Firefox 6 ignores prevent update settings | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/886499
Now, I have not restarted yet, and I still have Firefox 6. If I restart, I'll have Firefox 7 WHICH I DO NOT WANT! The "Software Update" window still shows, and of course there is no cancel button there.
Is there a way (such as killing the Firefox process) that I can shut down Firefox, so that next time I start it, it will NOT update, but give me the old version?

Where does AOL show up -- home page?
I think the first thing to check is whether you have any AOL-related add-ons. These might override your regular settings. You can review and disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Note that in most cases, you need to use the Restart Firefox link to actually deactivate the extension you chose to disable.
Next, to fix your home page, try the steps in this article: How to set the home page.
If there is a problem with your search providers being switched from Google to AOL, try this extension:

What are the problems you are facing by using Firefox 6 ?? We might be able to help you resolve those issues.
Starting with the release of Firefox 6, the previous versions of Firefox (4.0.x and 5.0.x) are no longer maintained with Security and Stability updates. Firefox 3.6 is the last previous Firefox version that is still being maintained.
Firefox versions 4.0.x 5.0.x contain Security vulnerabilities that are known and could be exploited by some websites to gain unauthorized access to information or to disrupt critical processing. Only the Latest version 6.0 and an Older version 3.6 of Firefox are secure against these known vulnerabilities.

after updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google(web ,image, video, map etc),yahoo, Facebook (message, notification, profile, home) and others site are disabled. even I cant log out from different sites cz the log out bar is completely disabled. I tried with Firefox 4;5 and 6, same problem exist . I tried by active all add ons for facebook, same problem exist. If I use internet explorer , I don't find such problem with it.
How can I solve this problem?

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would require me to delete the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

• Java does not work at all upon using the update manager to update to firefox 3.6.10 for Ubuntu 9.0.4

OS: Ubuntu 9.0.4
Browser: Firefox 3.6.10
upon updating to firefox 3.6.10, java does not work at all.
websites that use java do not work at all anymore, when they worked just fine before the updating thru update manager. e.g. hulu website cannot play any of the shows.
i can give the folder of bookmarked pages i tried.
how to do that on here, i've yet to see if possible.
i can even give saved text from the terminal concerning certain attempts.
when i updated thru update manager, it gave some weird java plugin that wasn't there before "The IcedTea Web Browser Plugin IcedTea6 Java Web Browser Plugin (execution of applets on webpages)".
i uninstalled this as instructed by an answer found in one of the pages i saved, cuz it was conflicting w/another java program the updater said i needed. right now, i don't remember for sure what it was. it perhaps was realplayer flash or Java itself. w/all the hours/days of searching i put in, it's difficult if not downright impossible for me to remember all the specifics of what i tried.
i've searched throughout many webpages (including many searches on mozilla, ubuntu, java, etc) for instruction in fixing the problem.
oh, and incidentally, on the Java site, when i try the verify test of Java, firefox pops up with that yellow bar right below the slew of tabbed website windows, giving the statement "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page. (w/link to) install missing plugins ." which is what i do, go thru the requesting plugin installation. it comes up with, guess what, the IcedTea Java Plugin. i click on the 'next' in the "Plugin Finder Service" box that pops up, & all it gives me is "No plugins were installed. IcedTea ...Plugin failed. and the link 'find out more about plugins or manually find missing plugins'". the link takes me to some of the very things/plugins that wouldn't install in the first place. the Java test failure is a LOL funny, as what plugin it is saying is required (IcedTea) is a recommended alternate program to display the very test in the first place.
i followed the given instructions on those many searched pages, in every case (barring what i may have just plain missed), but to no avail.
i've even gone to the point of trying to reinstall the previous 3.5.13 firefox version, from mozilla site. even that wouldn't install.
i've tried installing Java for my sys direct from it's site. nada.
now it's time for me to post the problem & perhaps someone will come up with some kind of "dummy" way to fix it.
until then many sites a regularly use are totally useless to me on this fast puter.
the only way i can get to use such sites, are two choices: 1. use a dinosaur laptop, which is slower than molasses & cannot handle to any streaming stuff, or 2. use an available internet access puter at the library. but useage for ea person per day is limited to only one hour a day. and one can end up waiting for an hour or more ( in the busiest periods) to even get to use one.
so, is there anyone at all, who knows any for-sure working fix for this problem?
thanks muchly :^D
p.s. i can't pay anybody any money for such help, as is required in certain sites (e.g. Java website), cuz i don't have any.
i can pay in labor tho, if there is someway to find someone who can physically be at this puter w/me, taking me step-by-step
sorry for the 20-pg essay. i hope it was all clearly understood. if, not, well, clear communication is always what is needed, ask away.
