Firefox 31 won't connect why?

If you are wondering how I'm communicating with you right now it's because I'm using the Pale Moon browser which is the only browser which is working.
The problem...
I installed firefox 31 and everything was working great...for a while. Then out of the blue it just stopped working.
It doesn't open at all although it shows up in the Microsoft task manager pane as well as Daphne(non-Microsoft task-manager). I then of course end up having to close it out in the task-manager because what's the use of it using system resources if I can't access it.
I am also unable to access the profile manager no matter what I type in the "run" box or the command prompt. It's as if firefox isn't installed at all. I then upgraded to firefox 32beta and still the problem continued. I uninstalled and reinstalled and restarted the computer numerous times and still the problem persisted.
I finally had to use a piece of software called jv16 power tools to completed get rid of ALL of the firefox files that were still lurking on my computer in the registry etc. I then decided to try something, I installed an older version of firefox, version 27 and it worked...until I installed version 31 and once again it stopped working. There seems to be some kind of issue with firefox 32, I don't know what it is but until you come out with a brand new version I will be sticking to the older version or either just continue to use Palemoon.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Also make sure that the firewall isn't blocking Firefox if you've used system restore.
Note that using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.<br />
You may need to (re)install software that was affected.<br />
Delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling to be sure that all files get updated.

  • WiFi won't connect why?

I have moved my computer and would like to connect wirelessly. Why isn't my password accepted?

Oh, I thought it was a computer running Snow Leopard, since that's the forum you're in and you're showing 10.6.7. Any computer capable of running Snow would be able to use WPA2.
That computer is from 2002. I don't think WPA2, maybe even not WPA, had  been dreamed up then.
If you're conscious of security and don't want to be hacked, unless you live a decent distance from the nearest neigbor, then you should realize that WEP can be cracked in minutes and offers little to no protection.
If possible, you will be better off keeping it on Ethernet, which will also be much faster than the Airport on that machine.
EDIT: or keep the new one for wireless and use the old one on Ethernet. That's what I do. I have an old G3 on Ethernet in one room and the new iMac on WIFI further away.

  • Kuoni website is OK til I get to bookings and then it won't connect - why?

The Kuoni site works fine until I try to get the detail of the cost etc. of my chosen holiday. It claims that it is going to connect me to the page but I either get a blank or I stay on the existing page. This seems to be connected to the change from an http page to an https page but I can't figure out what to do about the settings to rectify this. The connection works fine using another browser but I'd prefer to stay with Firefox if I can fix this.

  • Firefox won't connect to internet but IE will!!

I'm using latest edition of Firefox on windows 07 laptop. Two days ago my internet connection slowed significantly (i was only one) for few hours but then things got to normal. My computer updated (windows) last night and when tried to turn on firefox it won't connect or load website pages. First it said errror in my connection, now message says 'the connection has timed out'. I have done everything stated on firefox support (checked proxy - am on college network so it was on auto and I switched it to no proxy - no luck), I checked my firewall (managed by mcafee) and even though windows is not being used on my laptop I added firefox just in case - no luck. I did the other steps on the page - no luck. IE is working fine and at reasonable speed so it's not the connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Edit: don't know if this may help but googlechrome won't work for me either - it opens, and tries to connect to page but never does. . .

  • I downloaded Firefox 3.6 but won't connect to the (Yahoo) server. Why?

I've been using Firefox as my primary but since last week, the page won't load, says "Firefox can't establish connection to the server at www.yahoo.com. I have no problem getting online through Explorer. What's the problem?

I have already tried removing firefox from my firewall. Even when I do that, my firewall doesn't detect firefox and prompt me to add it. And when I manually add it, it still doesn't work anyways. I've already tried the link as well, but it has been unhelpful. :/
I'm not sure if it matters, but a few weeks before this, I did download Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • I want to load Firefox on my computer at home, which is not connected to the internet. I want to download Firefox to my flashdrive and then add it to my computer at home. When I try to download Firefox, it won't let me change the path of where it download

I want to download Firefox on a flashdrive so I can then download it to my home computer which is not connected to the internet. When I download Firefox, it won't let me change the path and so tries to download on a public computer, which isn't allowed. The reason I want it on my home computer is because I'm creating web pages and I want to view my html pages using a variety of browsers, including Firefox.

From another computer, go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/, click "Free download" button, click "Save File" button, select your flash drive in "Save as" window. "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" file will be saved in your flash drive.
You just need to insert it in your new computer and double-click on "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" from Windows Explorer and follow instructions.

  • Firefox was working on my new iMac but then, after switching on recently, won't connect to the web – whereas Safari has no problem.

    ===
    Hi
I bought an iMac a week ago and installed Firefox via Safari. It worked fine for a while but, after a recently switching on, it won't connect to the web whereas Safari has no problems.
I've tried following the Firefox Help, looking into the iMac firewall, but still no luck.
I've no idea whether related or not but yesterday I had a system glitch where the iMac stated no wi-fi was installed and only connected via a physical lead to my house router. Also, there was no sound output via Safari. However, after booting up today all seems well – apart from Firefox still not working. It loads the start page but can't access the web.
I have Little Snitch running, and wonder if that's the culprit... but it's working fine with Safari, seemingly.
(Finally, how do I stop a dialogue box appearing on start-up saying that "To open “X” you need a Java runtime. Would you like to install one now?)
    Any ideas anyone?
    Cheers
    Rob / Sheffield / UK

On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.   In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa.   You may find the following Apple Support article helpful.

    Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

  • Firefox will not connect or open. Mac OS 10.6.8. I was working with many open tabs when Firefox stopped working. Now it won't connect. I have uninstalled and downloaded it several times.

I was working with many open tabs and firefox crashed. Now it won't connect to the internet at all.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
    See:

    Hi again,
Let me ask for some better help for you that is familiar with this problem (if in fact it is a similar problem with the IP address and your ISP.
The other topic concerning this can be found at:

It is a somewhat lengthy thread but may just apply to your situation.
Anyways I will see if I can call on some better help for you. Hang in there. Best to arm yourself with enough info before contacting Comcast so they might know what you are dealing with fully.

edit: I have posted for some extra help for you that may have a better idea of what's going on if it is your ISP and their modem and how it handles the IP address causing Safari and iTunes not to connect. Hang in there it may take awhile but I'm sure someone will pop in to help.

  • Safari Won't Connect To Specific Network. Firefox Will!

I have a specific issue with Safari (and Mail.app) on a specific network I try to connect to.
The network is one offered on a train service, and pre-Lion I've been able to connect to it just fine.
All of a sudden my MBP and MBA are able to connect to the network - but if I try and start Safari it just bounces away in the dock.
On the rare occasion that Safari starts it won't connect to any webpages. Mail.app also refuses to work in the same way.
If I use Firefox - I can use the internet as normal (although I still have issues with Mail.app).
The bigger issue occurs when I am off the train and trying to use my laptop on other networks - Safari and Mail continue to refuse to work, even though the laptop tells me I'm connected. I have to restart the entire machine.
I've deleted networks from the SysPrefs, reordered them, tried a Google DNS etc etc. I've Googled the issue like crazy, and even contacted the train operator! - and so far come up with nothing.
Any help would be much apprecieted.

Do you have anti virus software installed or any apps like Little Snitch?
Try deleting the cache associated with Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac, try Safari.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
