Firefox 33.1 was installed today. Since then, keeps freezing up.

Firefox was running fine until todays auto update. I'm running windows 8.1, with webroot for antivirus. Since the update, most of the time firefox is frozen. I can load a webpage, but I can't do anything. Scrolling is frozen. Choosing an item is frozen. I have had to resort to IE to file this question. Many thanks.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

  • Firefox said it was installing an update, then disappeared. Now my firefox icon produces Safari!

The 'update' did not require my permission, and I am suspicious. The firefox icon still appears in my applications folder, but when I click on it there it says my mac does not support this application.
    What the h...?

Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and a Mac with an Intel processor.

I always recommend backing up the iPhoto Library file under your Pictures folder first.
You can try removing the iPhoto Preference file in your User Library folder. Close iPhoto. If you are using Snow Leopard (10.6) click on Go in the Finder menu bar. Click on Library. If you are now on Lion (10.7), you'll have to hold Option key while clicking Go to see the Library selection. Once here, find the Preferences folder. In here, look for the following:
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
Move this file to the desktop. Start iPhoto and see what happens. If it is working, you can delete the file you moved to the desktop. This should not delete any photos, but will reset iPhoto as if it's the first time you are opening it (so your preferences you set may need to be set back).
If this doesn't work, let me know.

  • Once firefox 4.o was installed, full screen video produced white screen. Had to exit and and restart video. Using a mac os 10.5. Disabling hardware acceleration did not fix. went back to firefox 3.6 and all is ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Once firefox 4.o was installed, when switching to full screen while watching any internet video produced a white screen but audio still playing. Switching back to small screen has a still video but audio still going. Had to exit and and restart video or open a blank new new tab then delete it and then small screen video would play. Using a mac os 10.5. Disabling hardware acceleration did not fix. went back to firefox 3.6 and all is ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Your hardware was never designed to run that old a version of OS X, it's best to update the application or find another application that is more up to date. Installing Leopard simply will not work on your system.

my macbook pro was repaired and since then i can't get nor photoshop cs5 or bridge cs5 to initialize. a window appears that says it has initializing problems due to an icc profile issue.
there appear two error messages. the first one says that there has been a problem sincronizing because of a programme error. the second one appears after you clicked ok on the first window and says that photoshop couldn't be initialized because the icc profile is invalid.
does anyone know if i have to delete any system or photoshop preference? the illustrator is also having troubles. thanks

thanks! what finnally worked better was renaming the «settings» folder in te «color folder» in the library with ~before the name. now indesign is asking me for thw icc profiles but still works, so i asume i can reinstall color settings only for indesign and go on.

If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPad. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPad on some other WiFi networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPad does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPad is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

I have a mac book that will not open up DVD's recorded with a presentation.  I install the disc in a HP / windows 7 and it works fine.  I had my hard drive replaced and since then I cannot open up DVD's.  Was there a application that did not get installed?  And if so what is the process.

You need DVD Player. It should be in your Applications folder. If it is in there go to System Preferences>CDs & DVDs and for "When you insert a video DVD" make sure DVD Player is selected.

  • Found 0 results for how do I UNINSTALL Firefox 9.0.1? I Installed it last night and Firefox has crashed maybe 20 times since then. The previous version almost never crashed. Please help

Since installing Firefox 9.0.1 LAST night on my iMac, which is running OSX v. 10.5.8, Firefox is now crashing every few minutes. It usually happens as I go from one website to another -- when I click on a bookmarked website from my bookmarks, Firefox crashes just as the next website is coming up. I have NEVER had this problem with Firefox before. I need to uninstall and revert to the previous version of Firefox, but OSX doesn't have an easy "revert to previous configuration" routine. Or... please send out a fix for 9.0.1 (assuming others are having the same problem) right away.

Thank you mha007. Actually, Verdi had solved the problem about 10 days ago. It was another Plug-in, Showcase, that was incompatible with the newest Firefox, so he told me to disable it, and that worked instantly. The other day, though, Firefox again started constantly crashing. This time I looked and found -- as you suggest -- another outdated plugin, in this case Silverlight. Don't know why it took ten days to start causing a problem, but as soon as I disabled it, everything was back to normal. I have NEVER had such problems with any new versions of Firefox, and I've been using it for ages, so this was pretty disconcerting to see how problematic the new version was.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Event 123 - The DSM service was delayed by nn seconds for a driver query/download/install on device then screen freezes

The reader's digest version of the saga is I received a Dell Vostro 460 with a wiped disk. The PC emitted beep code indicating PSU or RAM issue when turned on.  After resolving the marginal power supply with a new replacement, I installed Windows 7
but as soon as I would launch IE the system would freeze.  All of the BIOS & device drivers are current.  I tried upgrading to Windows 8 but kept getting the black screen right after the install process finished installing the devices. I had
to resort to a clean install.  Having successfully install Windows 8.1 I have been able to a get to the desktop, however every time I launched IE my system freezes in the same way as with Windows 7.  I installed a different browser and used that
to research the event log errors.  As the system freezes, I see warning log entries with event id 123 entries:
Event 123 - The DSM service was delayed by 125 seconds for a driver query/download/install on device  'ACPI\GENUINEINTEL_-_INTEL64_FAMILY_6_MODEL_42_-_________INTEL(R)_CORE(TM)_I7-2600_CPU_@_3.40GHZ\_8'
Event 123 - The DSM service was delayed by 517 seconds for a driver query/download/install on device 'PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&SUBSYS_04AB1028&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0'
Event 123 - The DSM service was delayed by 106 seconds for a driver query/download/install on device 'PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0100&SUBSYS_04AB1028&REV_09\3&11583659&0&00'
Event 123 - The DSM service was delayed by 155 seconds for a driver query/download/install on device 'PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0423&SUBSYS_049410DE&REV_A1\4&2209AF9F&0&0008'
There are more but these warnings are stacked in groups of two or three then the error & critical entries indicating I did a hard reboot.
When I use Firefox browser to open several tabs everything is fine until I stream audio/video then the same freeze screen happens and i have to reboot. Anything you can offer will be very much appreciated.

    Hi,
'PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0423 is a graphic card driver from the vendor’s official webpage.
Besides as you mentioned in the post, it happened when you launch Internet Explorer, there is an accelerated  Graphics item in the Internet Explorer, the settings should be changed, please follow this way:
Go to the control panel, then select the Internet Option, go to advance, just like the screenshot below:
select the checkbox if it is empty, anyhow make it different from the previous settings, then restart your computer to see the result.

  • First I tried to download Firefox 4 and was refused permission. Then I posted to this forum and received a confirmation link by e-mail, but the link failed.

I downloaded Firefox 4, but when I tried to move it into the Applications folder, I was refused permission. I tried to post this problem to this forum and received a confirmation link by e-mail, but it failed: I got the message "Something is wrong."

If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions to update then easiest is to trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • TS1702 Hi. I recently had my iTunes account hacked and £1500 worth was stolen. Since then I have changed my password several times and put a completely new ID in. Apple have disabled my account which means I cannot upgrade all my existing apps. Help !

    Hi
I had my iTunes hacked recently. My account has been disabled. Changing passwords and ID I cannot upgrade all my existing apps purchased on my own pad! Help please.

Did you create a completely new account or update the existing one ? If you created a new account then any
content bought/downloaded via the old one will remain tied to that old account, and it can't be copied or transferred to a new account, so you will need to get your old account re-enabled in order to download updates to its apps.
You might be able to get it re-enabled it via this page : http://iforgot.apple.com
Or you might need to contact Apple : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
If you've changed the password on the old account but the iPad isn't recognising it, then try logging out of your account on it by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' it on the iPad.

  • I upgraded to firefox 4 (from 3.x) and since then I can't scroll using the trackpoint on my IBM R40 laptop. It does work in other applications including foldres, explorere etc.

It worked until I downloaded the last version of firefox, and it still works with any other application except ff.

Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
    1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
    2. Select to "Options
    3. Select "Applications"
    4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
    5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

  • When I installed iTunes it sayed it was installed successfully and then it said that it was installed incorrectly. What do I do?

I have tried this for almost 2 hours..

What's the precise text of the message you get when trying to launch iTunes, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)
