Firefox 37 Beta on Windows 8.1 has lag and stuttering when scrolling

I just recently got a new laptop, and since the minute I've installed firefox on it there has been lag when scrolling webpages. It seems to start off not too badly, with there being some stuttering when I first open firefox, however it seems like the longer I'm browsing the worse it gets, to the point where sometimes I'll start scrolling and then a second later firefox will just jump to the bottom of the page. Internet Explorer and Chrome both have perfectly smooth scrolling.
I've tried numerous things to fix it already, this is some of the stuff I can remember trying:
-Turning off hardware acceleration and smooth scrolling
-Starting in safe mode
-Complete reinstall with new profile
-Updating graphics card and intel drivers
Specs of the new laptop:
Core i7
GTX 970M
16Gb RAM

When I was trying different versions of Firefox to see if they all had the scrolling problem, I made sure to try 36, 38, and even 31.5 ESL portable. They all have the scrolling problem when my laptop is unplugged. However, when I tried Tor just to see what would happen - bingo! Perfectly smooth scrolling once more. This is especially weird as Tor uses 31.5.3 ESL as a base...
This made me think that it could potentially be a plugin, as Tor doesn't have any plugins installed other than Flash. However, after first disabling, then manually removing, every plugin that was listed in about:plugins the problem continues to persist.
Any idea why Tor would work flawlessly while every other version of firefox suffers the scrolling issue? I couldn't seem to remove the OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, plugin. Is it possible to remove it in order to see if it is causing the problem?

  • Why my Firefox keeps lagging and freezing when scrolling on Facebook?

When scrolling through Facebook it keeps lagging and freezing for a few seconds, and when it happens it says "Connecting..." on the tab title. It keeps happening while I'm scrolling in the Facebook page, and if I leave the tab with Facebook working all Firefox looks a little laggy.
I've tried some possible solutions here in the support but it keeps happening.
It doesn't happen with others browser, such as Chrome.

  • I have had CS3 on a windows desktop that has died and now have a mac can the licence be used to down load it in mac format or have I got to purchase it again.?

I Have had CS3 on a windows desktop that has died and I now have a mac, will my licence allow me to download a mac version of
CS3 or do I have to buy a new package and licence?

Unfortunately your CS3 license is Windows only.
There is a platform transfer process available from Adobe but that only applies to CS6.
Order product | Platform, language swap
Your options now are either to buy superseded CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud and get the latest versions, provided your hardware and operating system meets the system requirements.
With the Cloud you can install on both Mac and/or Windows for no extra cost with no complicated platform swap processes. On both Mac and Windows you just sign in with your Adobe ID then download the Cloud apps.

Why does Acrobat lag and jerk when reading pdf's?

    Thanks, But
    3.4GHz i7, NV GTX 680MX 2GB card, 32GB DDR3 ram, 3tb Solid state/spin hybrid hard drive.
I don't think it lacks grunt.
Using big files in photoshop no problems.
The lag is less pronounced if single page is selected in page layout but the problen still exists. It just snaps from page to page and I can't scroll smoothly.
There is no option for 'hardware accelerated page display'
No problem scrolling pdf in a browser, only if the pdf file is downloaded into this computer.
    The problem is in Acrobat.

  • Itunes starts then windows says it has stoped and must close

Itunes was working just fine on my sons laptaop. Then he decided to by an ipod nano (8GB) Friday night. He gets home hooks it up and gets the message that the ipod needs I tunes 7.4 or greater so upgrades. Now every time he opens i tunes windows syays it has stopped running and must close.
I have tried to install Itunes on a Vista Laptop, and two other machines in the house that run XP. In every case the same thing happens. I have followd the instructions for clean install severla times on each machine. I have even trid to install versions back to 6.0 in hopes that once I get a working install we can up grade it. Unfortunately nada, nothing, no go.
Personally I would have gone with a zune or something else but it wasa his hard earned cash...He was replacing a creative zen 30gb that he is tired of carryinh around, pretty heavy by todays standards.
So I am open to suggestions otherwise he is going back to Circuit City with it later in the week.
    Ross

I used Quicktime 7.3 that I obtained from a third party web site. Then I used Itunes 7.4.1 that I downloaded from oldapps.com. This worked on my Windows XP laptop. Just be sure that you read each screen during the install process. I would uncheck the box for auto update that is on one of the first install screens.
I have not been able to get this to work on my XP desktop or my wifes Vista lap top. There is something that conflicts with I tunes (duh), but I have yet to figure it out.
I can tell you that IE7 seems to conflict with quicktime 7.3 I mistakenly allowed that update on my desktop and Quicktime would not run. As soon as I removed it Quicktime was fine....
This all started because my son bought a nano 8gb last Friday. He has been using a Zen Jukebox 30gb that I bought him for High School Graduation 4 years ago. It is huge and heavy so he figured he would treat himself (been working lots of OT). any way I wanted him to go for a zune or something else that was less costly but about the same GB And wouild be able to load songs using a varietry of non proprietary software. He wanted the I pod because he downloads from I tunes and doesn't like the hassle he has to through to convert those songs to MP3 to go on non Apple players. Anyway when he connected the nano it said he needed Itunes 7.4 or greater. He just allowed it to connect to Apple and frankly nothing seemed to happen and that is how we got where we are today. My point? I beleive you only need I tunes 7.4 for the latest generation of Ipods to function...
    Good luck hope this helps

  • Firefox automatically crashes after 4 hours of use and only when a textbox is being used - problem now daily and getting worse

This has been going on for a few weeks and started of it's own accord. I have not recently installed any new plugins or scripts, and my PC is protected by two antivirus products and so my system (WinXP) is malware free.
I can browse firefox for up to 4 hours, and then it crashes. No matter what sites I am using, what I am doing or even if I'm at the PC... so long as there's a text box on the page then firefox will crash if the 4 hour time limit expires. I can be just about to save an hours worth of photo captions and lose all that work due to the crash, or can be in the middle of a background download but it'll still crash... daily.
I thought this was a plugin issue, as I have disabled all plugins for javascript handling, flashgot, etc, but still it crashes. (previously on startup Firefox would hang for 5 to 10 minutes and the system would "bing" at me if I tried to click on the firefox window... eventually a 'non responsive script' window would appear relating to a flashgot script). The crash used to go whereby suddenly the page would freeze for a few seconds, followed by a minute or two of safe working, then 2 minutes of freeze and 30 seconds of safe working, with the ratio of freeze-tim:working time working in 20 seconds increments until firefox crashed... now though there is no warning, the page freezes and then it's gone. I have updated firefox several times and still the problem persists. On a previous computer, Firefox degraded to the point where it froze for 4 minutes on any page with a Flash application... now on this computer it has degraded by itself to the point where it crashes after 4 hours of use.
I'm presently using Internet Explorer to type this question because firefox crashed again and I'm not going to sit waiting for it to reload just to get a few numbers from an information screen... therefore further info like crash ID's etc will be update in due time....

Cool, I'll try using the wall adaptor just as soon as I get a convertor for it to convert it to our socket type. It's nice to hear that someone else has experienced the same issue.
I am not using it as a phone in Australia, just the ipod and wifi.

  • Moving windows in spaces has lag

there is a very noticeable delay when moving windows between spaces. although it’s not really a problem, it is disconcerting.

Bumping this because it's persisting for me. Has anyone figured out a fix? It's like there is a rubber band between your mouse pointer and the point on the window that you're dragging in Spaces, such that as you drag around the window follows the mouse but kind of bounces and lags as though the rubber band were stretching. And it almost like they built in some Newtonian inertial physics into to. It's not really just a lag per se. But it's definitely annoying.

    Hi!
It sounds like you're having trouble with Firefox for Desktop. I'd recommend contacting the Firefox for Desktop support forum here: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop] ; they'll be more knowledgeable and better able to answer your questions than the volunteers here at the Firefox OS forum.
    I hope that helps you!

I am currently researching for an article to write and consequently have many PDFs open simultaneously. I use the Foxit PDF plug in.

My 9-month-old MacBook White (Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz) lags whenever I use SketchUp, and hangs sometimes when I use FlightGear or X-Plane (flight simulators). No other applications were running when these were being used. Is it a CPU problem, or a RAM shortage? Any answers and/or clarification would be much appreciated.

Can you go to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor and check that all the processes you are running are Intel (you will find this info under the "Kind" column in the Activity Monitor window).
Also see (in the same window, under the "%CPU" column) if there appears to be any processes which are using an inordinate amount of CPU.
