Firefox 37 keeps crashing, Plugin-hang...aplication error message, & won't let me update Adobe Flash player
Ever since I updated to Firefox 37 my Firefox has been crashing. It started only doing it periodically, then it got so that if I scrolled down a page it would close. Then it got to the point where as soon as I opened Firefox it would immediately crash every time. I ran antivirus and Super AntiSpyware and rebooted, but it only let me into Firefox, nothing would load up. They only way I am able to be on right now is through my computer's "safe mode".
I have tried repeatedly to update Adobe Shockwave Flash Player, but when I click "run" the box disappears and nothing happens from there. It just won't update.
I am on a Windows XP computer which, as we know, is no longer supported by Microsoft, but am I really this SOL?
All scans say I am clean, BTW.
I am afraid to reset Firefox because if I can't update the flash player now, who can promise me I will be able to get anything back if I reset Firefox?
I am moments away from getting my hammer and having a meeting with my computer in the backyard, if you know what I mean. Please help.

Thank you so much for responding. I appreciate your help very much. There are TONS of these reports without "BP" in front of them. Most all reports are without a "BP" in front of them. They take forever to load from Archives and once I do get one loaded I can't locate a "submit" tab anywhere.

Do you have a MAC or Windows ?
For Windows, you can launch Windows Task Manager and go to Processes Tab, kill "Firefox.exe"
For MAC, you can launch Activity Monitor and Force Quit "Firefox"

In general, when desktop software is using Flash Player, it's because they're embedding an Internet Explorer window in the application. If you don't have Flash Player for Internet Explorer (aka. the ActiveX Flash Player) installed, then the desktop application isn't going to work.
So, fire up Internet Explorer
Go here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Follow the prompts, and then re-launch the application after you've completed the installation in IE. Hopefully that sorts it out for you. -
I'm trying to load flash file in iWeb and when i enter info in the "html snippet" box a "missing plug-in" message comes up (although i have Adobe Flash player installed, if that's the plug-in they're looking for). Anyone have any similar problems or solutions. Thanks
when i publish my site and vew it the page on the web it just comes up with the file name w/ the ,swf and the "mising plug-in" message below. if i click on the file name it displays the flash file but gigantic (the entire height of the page).totally perplexed!

The latest automatic update (in March) was accompanied by "You should update Adobe Flash Player right now". Having done this a few days ago a new Firefox update arrived (today 7. March) with the same "request". Why does this happen and what can I do to stop it? Firefox 3.6.15 and Adobe flash player 10.1.82.76 are currently installed.

Answers in this forum have shown different things have worked for different people.
For some clearing YouTube cookies and the cache solved the problem. For details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Deleting+cookies and https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
Others had to go a step further after deleting YouTube cookies and block YouTube from saving cookies. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options window. Go to the Privacy panel and make sure it is set to "Use custom setting for history". Click the Exceptions button, type in http://www.youtube.com and click on Block
Another option is to disable hardware acceleration for Flash. To do that right-click on a Flash video, select Settings, go to the first tab of the settings for the option to enable/disable hardware acceleration for Flash. My pc keeps displaying a message that I need to load adobe flash player.
My pc continues displaying a message tellin me I need to load the adobe flash player 11 when I have already loaded the software. I keep having to reload the adobe flash player and it appears that it still needs the adobe flash player while I try to play a audio file that requires the adobe flash player in order to play a audio or video file.

Just upgraded to Firefox 10 on a Window7 64 bit PC. Google Finance charts no longer work. Checked the web for similar. Updated to latest compatible Adobe Flash player 32 bit as suggested. Flash player works. I can see finance charts in IE, but not Firefox 10. I can see finance charts on Yahoo in Firefox, but not Google finance charts. Main chart at google.com/finance is displayed. Individual stock charts don't.

Have to keep updating adobe flash player
I must update my adobe flash player every other day. I run windows 7, 64 bit.
I play many games, i keep getting a message that my adobe flash player has to be updated. It's not possble that there are this many updates. If this continues I have to find a different flash player. This is extremely annoying;
I use internet explorer 9.
I starting reading thru other things on this forum and I see I am not the only one with this problem. However, i am always getting the message that adobe flash was successfully installed. I am not going to uninstall my virus protection or all the other nonsense that other people have tried. If you offer a service it's supposed to work without all the nonsense that is being recommended by other people. I would rather pay for something and have it work then to go thru all this bs.

I automatically upgraded to Firefox 6. Whenever I try to view a video on Vimeo I either am told that:
'The video cannot be played with my current setup' and to switch to a browser with native H.246 support or to install the Adobe Flash Player.

That no mobile version of the video exists.
I have the Flash player installed and have reinstalled it. I have also reinstalled Firefox 6.From what I can tell, the problem is not Silverlight, it is the flash plugin (10.3). I uninstalled and went back to FLASH 10.1 and Netflix, flash videos, flash based applications, etc all worked again on my brand new computer. Very unfortunate and frustrating.

How do I close Firefox temporarily to update adobe flash player?
I have been informed that the" adobe flash player" has been giving people problems with their computers. Therefore it was strongly suggested to me to update the player on the website: get.adobe.com\flashplayer
When I went up to that website, and went to install the adobe update - it asks me to close the Mozilla Firefox program. I do not want to lose my Mozilla Firefox, so could you please let me know how I can close it and then install the adobe update, and then reopen Firefox.

You would download Flash from here http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH however if your running an old version of Mac OS X say 10.5.8 or earlier then you cannot run the current version of Flash which is 11.3
Remember you not only have to download Flash but you have to run the installer.
Some websites that use Flash might tell your computer the site needs a specific minimum version of Flash and as above if your running too old a version of Mac OS X then you will not be able to run a new enough version of Flash.
