Firefox 4.0 does not open websites with PDFs?

Hello, the new Firefox does not seem to work well with websites that have embedded PDF's. And PDF's in general don’t seem to work very well, often I have to right click the link and save to desktop and then open the file. Any suggestions here? I had no problems with 3.6.
Here are some examples

Thanks

Norton's Firefox add-ons are not yet compatible with Firefox 4. You can wait until Norton releases an update for Firefox 4 in the next few months, or you can [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/798804 re-install the previous version of Firefox] until then.
Firefox also has its own Safe Browsing feature that provides the same kind of protection as Norton 360, so you will still be protected against malicious web sites. For details, see http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/phishing-protection/

  • Firefox 5.0 does not open link into new window

Firefox 5.0 does not open link into new tab. I have a netbook also and tab options work fine, links open into a new window. However on this Dell it does not work. Tab options in Firefox and Google are set right, but don't work that way. Running Windows 7 on Dell, Windows Starter on netbook.

The Template .dwt file is only used locally by DW itself, there's no reason to upload it to the server unless you intend to share it with someone. You have to upload each individual page that the Template updates, every time you update the template and propagate that change across the child pages.
It would probably be better to use a server side include. That way, you could update one file then upload it and all of your pages would automatically carry that update...

It's especially handy if your site gets to the point where you have more than about 20 pages.

  • Adobe Reader does not automatically associate with PDF files in Xp Sp3

I have reinstalled Reader (twice) and it does not automatically associate with PDF files.
How do I fix this problem?
    Cheers, JH

The thing is, when I right click a pdf file, and then go to properties, change default program to open with, select browse, I select it in the correct folder, when I click open, it doesnt open and the programs stay blank, so I cant select anything. There is nothing to select. And I have re-installed. But at the end of the install there are no options what file types to associate with. Any way to do it inside Reader?
I have reader 9.2.0. and Win7 up to date. When I'm opening and closing allot of files the whole time, I don't want to do inside reader. Help please?

  • Firefox does not open links with a new window or tab for certain web sites, e.g. Santander On line banking, help links.

When accessing some sites where they have links for additional information that would normally open a new window or tab, Firefox does not open either. This happens on a variety of sites, most recently the Santander on-line banking site.

  • I downloaded firefox but it does not open at all.i need help.

i click on firefox on my desktop home screen, but nothing happens it does not open. i use to use it all the time until i updated it,after that is when the promblem started.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • My own website has a navigation bar-in firefox the options does not open a nwe page. IN IE it works perfect. What can be the reason ?

the website : www.regiokoor.nl is ok in IE and in firefox the navigation bar does not work. I cannot open other pages then the home-page.
    What do I wrong ?

Try posting at the Web Development / Standards Evangelism forum at MozillaZine. The helpers over there are more knowledgeable about web page development issues with Firefox. <br />

  • After installing 9.0.1 twice on Win7, Firefox does not open websites in the navigation toolbar. Nothing happens when I put in any normal web address.

Firefox now takes an enormously long time to open now that I have upgraded to 9.0.1. The bigger problem is that the navigation toolbar where I enter web addresses does not function when I hit the enter key or by selecting the small arrow key right next to the web address. Win7 64bit, no detectable viruses.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Hi, i have a new toshiba laptop with windows 7 home edition K and first thing i did was download firefox but it does not open... thank you!

Laptop is L630 and i bought it in Korea, language base is korean/english. I downloaded firefox first but it was US-english, so i uninstalled it and re-installed the uk-english version. Before that I set a persona on firefox 9the only add-on i was in time to set)
When i click on the icons it does not launch...
I tried several tiime to relaunch the PC but so far no change...

I can't think of any way to make the Navigation Toolbar appear/disappear based on which direction you move your mouse.
Well, there is full screen view, where the whole toolbar area including the tab bar slides up off the screen, and reappears if you slide the mouse pointer all the way to the top. (You can use the F11 key to turn full screen view on and off.)
Is it possible this is an option of one of your extensions?

(I would rename rather than delete a file in profile, which would be the last thing I'd try, mainly because I'm curious if the third response has anything to do with the problem, which I don't have, but which would fix something else like being able to view javascript alert and message with readable color and formatting)

  • Firefox was working fine, I closed it and later it would not open at all. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and it will now open. I've followed all the directions and all I get is the crash reporter when I try to open firefox. It does not open at all. HELP

I'm using XP sp3, fully patched with the current version of firefox 3. 6.12. I have 4 gb memory and a 250 gb hard drive. Most of which is all free, so I have lots of memory and hard drive space. I was using firefox and everything was working fine. I shut it down and when I went back later, it would not open at all. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, renamed the user acct, followed all directions I could find and firefox will not open. I've run all kinds of scans on my computer for viruses or malware and found nothing. Everytime I try to open firefox, I get the crash reporter and it will not open at all. I would appreciate some help. I don't know what else to try. I use firefox as my default browser.

hello, this crash is caused by Websense Endpoint security software that is running on the system. please try to install all the updates for this program that are available...

  • I loaded a new Firefox because F does not open. That new Firefox does not open. At all. Task Manager tells some loadings, but F not open. I have restarted, cleaned register, but F does not work.

Earlier F crashed, crashed etc. Now it does not start.
    I have checked viruses etc.
When I started a new loading, no questions of add-ons or anything.

Do a clean (re)install of the latest Firefox version and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 10.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
You may need to remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • [SOLVED] Sudo Ranger does not open files with VIM

I am using ranger as my file manager. And sometimes I run it with sudo. But then it want's to open all with nano. Even tough the environment variables (EDITOR & VISUAL) are set to vim.
Maybe it hast something to do with /bin/sh - but when that is the case, how do I change the default behaviour of /bin/sh?

Sure you can. As the sudoers man page describes, the env_reset option is on by default. You could use the env_keep options. Or use the -E flag for sudo. Or....
