Firefox 4.0 does not SAVE my tabs on Exit : (

I just upgraded to Firefox 4.0 on my Windows 7 desktop. I had to close Firefox for an add-on to install and it wiped out ALL of my tabs I had open!! NOT Happy : (
I have searched thru the options, Help menu (all it says it may be a problems with the setting but doesn't tell me how to fix it) and I looked thru the forum. I have not been able to find a way to set it so it will SAVE my TABS on EXIT.
I am running 4.0 on my laptop and it always saves my tabs on exit.
Please let me know what I need to do to fix this problem. As I already said...I am NOT Happy : (
Thank you.

I had the same problem do this

  • Firefox 7.1 does not save the tab groups

    i have windows 10 and firefox 7.1

'''azizy.aris'''.....I have done EXACTLY what you have said and perhaps it has helped others but it has NOT helped me. Could you perhaps think of anything else that may be causing this??? I was saving them for awhile but all of a sudden it stopped. Do you think it's because I have the Firefox v. 4 Optimized for Yahoo!? I don't remember if it worked prior to me updating to the version for Yahoo or not. Any help you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thank you in advance for all your and anyone else's help.

  • Firefox does not save my tabs and windows from last time when I start it although i have already set it so (on Macbook)

Firefox does not save my tabs and windows from last time, although i have already set it so (on a Macbook) (newest version)

If you use [[Clear Recent History]] in Firefox 3.5 and later to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox then restoring tabs from the last session ("Save & Quit" or "Show my windows and tabs from last time") doesn't work.

  • Firefox does not save my tabs or sessions when I shut down my computer

    To be more clear:
Yes, I have set my options to "show windows and tabs from last time".
No, I did not check "clear memory on shut down" or "start private session"
Also, it saves my tabs when I restart the browser, but when I shut down my computer and start up again, Firefox does not show my tabs from last time. The same thing happens with sites I've logged onto before; it logs me out after I shut down my computer.

Did you check the "Clear Recent History" settings to be sure cthat you do not clear the Browser history and the cookies?
    See [[Clear Recent History]]

  • Firefox 4 crashes all the time in addition it does not save my tabs when it says it will restore them

So I am surfing the net or watching something online then all of a sudden firefox 4 crashes it says its suppose to restore my tabs but it never does. please i want this fixed it is so annoying in addition my tabs do not save any more like they used to. like when you hit exist it suppose to ask if you want to save well it dosen't. Yes I have gone to your support page and literally done everything it said to do but none of it worked. so please help me on that too if possible.

I've had it crash on me about 10 times today. This is ridiculous. I've used firefox for years and never had as many issues with it as I have had with the latest updates. It's really disgusting how bad it is. I stopped using shittysoft internet exploder because it was so bad, but I may go back to it. I won't keep using shittyfox if they can't get it to work smoothly. This is pathetic.

  • Since updating Firefox my laptop does not save my history. Where has all my history gone?

it will save history during the session you are in but when you reopen the browser there is no history saved. can't find anywhere to change it. my other browsers are saving changes, but we prefer to use Firefox but it is too inconvenient at this time.

-> click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Options''' -> Privacy -> History section -> '''Firefox will: select "Use Custom Settings for History"''' -> '''REMOVE Checkmark from "Permanent Private Browsing mode"''' -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Remember my Browsing History 2) Remember Download History 3) Remember Search History 4) Accept Cookies from sites -> click '''Exceptions...''' button and click "Remove All Sites" 4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> ''Keep Until'': '''select They Expire'''
-> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES
-> '''When using the Location Bar, suggest: select "History and Bookmarks"'''
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries
-> click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Options''' -> Advanced -> General -> Remove Checkmark from '''Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page'''
-> click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Options''' -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline Storage (Cache): click '''Clear Now''' button
-> Click OK on Options window -> Restart Firefox
Make sure NOT to use '''Clear Recent History''' feature

  • Help! After upgrading to Firefox 8, will not save my tabs from previous session, or any Tools - Options! I have read everything I can find about it in Help.

It opens the same 3 stupid windows every time: the Firefox Google page, the upgraded Welcome page, and Amazon wish list upgrade page. This while my home page is set to msn.com or blank! I tried every method mentioned in Help that I could find, including the corrupt dll file and deleting Firefox and reinstalling it. Still, same problem. I have checked and rechecked all my browsing, history and cookie settings, etc. but cannot find any solution. I am not in private browsing, and I accept all cookies. It also does not save my Tools-Options-Tabs-When I open a new tab, switch to it immediately. This is really disappointing. Can someone please help??

Under Options->General->Startup->When Firefox starts->Change this from "Show my home page" to "show my windows and tabs from last time". It works for me, hope this will help you as well.

  • Clsing Firfox 4.- for Yahoo does not save tabs on close like previous versions. Your help says settings but does not tell me what setting...

In all the previous versions of Firefox, when I close Firefox, I was asked if I wanted to save my tabs. The latest version is not allowing that option. Why not and what setting will bring this function back. I should not have to pull down the History menu and request Previous Session, I should be able to start with my previous session if I exit and not close the tabs.
Upgrades should increase functionality and NOT completely change the look and feel of the program.
    Thanks

  • Firefox does not save my settings when I reboot

I have Windows 7 Ultimate. I was having problems with Firefox 3.6.16 crashing to the point where it wouldn't work. I uninstalled it and downloaded version 4 but had problems with it hanging all the time. I went through the help section, one of the things I did that was recommended was to delete my sessionstore files and any extra copies. I think there were three of them. I deleted them all but Firefox 4 still was hanging.
I uninstalled 4 and reinstalled 3.6.16 again. Everything seems to be working okay except when I reboot or restart my computer it does not save all of my password logins or any special settings on websites I visit all the time. So every time I start my computer I have to log into all my sites again, and I have a lot of them so this is really a pain. I'm not sure if this has to do with deleting the sessionstore files or not. I checked and I do have one sessionstore file instead of three.
Not sure what else to try. If I leave my computer on I stay logged in to all my sites and my preferences on those sites are maintained. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

I have tried to make a backup of the bookmarks file. Renamed the old one and called the backup "bookmarks.html".
The places.sqlite file is not "secured" (there does not exist a "locked" attribute in the general tab on the Mac), so I assume it is not locked.
Nothing seems to work. Possibly I can best uninstall Firefox and try to reinstall it, or does that not solve the problem.
Otherwise I go back to Safari :-)

  • Firefox 3.6.3 does not save any history, does not save passwords. I have read the forum and checked my settings (ok), started in Safe mode (still does not work).

Firefox 3.6.3 does not save history, nor passwords. I have read the forum and checked my settings in Privacy (all ok), I restarted Firefox in Safe mode (it still does not remember history or passwords). Running on XP. I think these problems started when I upgraded to 3.6.3.

I had the same problem after an upgrade to 3.6.3.
I was using password manager for a number of web sites before. Not using cookies but password manager.
After 3.6.3 auto upgrade it did not work.
I could not enter private browsing mode.
When I looked in tools>options>security at my saved passwords the list was blank. The button in the saved passwords dialog that normally says "Show saved passwords" was actually blank (the button was there but there was no text on it).
I did have my old bookmarks and was able to create new ones but oddly the bookmark all tabs menu function wouldn't work.
I decided to reinstall firefox 3.6.3. There is no way something with that many bugs got out!
I was able to get the full firefox executable from http://mozilla.com
I closed all firefox windows and ran the installation.
After re-running the install and starting firefox everything was fine. It must have been a bad download or the original install got messed up somehow.
I hope you have the same good fortune I had!

  • Using tab groups but Firefox 28.0 crashes and even can not save all tabs in archive recently

Hi. I installed tab groups addon on my firefox 28.0 (firefox portable version) and each group has its tabs. of course. Problem is that Firefox crashes when i work on a group with the tabs and even can not save all tabs in archive as MAFF recently too. When i try to save all tabs in archive as... i choose the name and hit save and wait but after some time this crashes too. Last time i saved all my tabs and groups as MAFF or other file was end of april and since then i can not save them anymore because of the crashing.
I read on the help site to delete Firefox then reinstall ect. to fix problems but I DO NOT want to erase my groups with their tabs as i chose this solution working with group tabs as it would be to hard on my cpu when i use for each group a different browser for example.
Please help me fix this problem with the crashes but without loosing my groups and its tabs as they are all important and do not wish to erase them as i use them all.
Thanks and hope for a soon reply :)

Can you give me your crash reports?
#Enter ''about:crashes'' in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
#Copy the '''5''' most recent Report IDs that start with '''bp-''' and paste them into your response here.

  • I get the firefox pop up "do you want to remember this password", but it does not save it. There is no "yes" option on the pop up. How can I get Firefox to save my passwords?

I want Firefox to save my passwords as it has in the past, but now it is not doing so. I am using version 6.0.2, I see the pop up asking to remember the password, but firefox does not save the passwords. What can I do to correct this so FF starts saving my passwords?

Firefox 4 and later versions place a key icon on the location bar that allows to (re)open the dialog to save the password at any time.<br />
That pop-up dialog has a button labeled with "Remember Password".<br />
If you click the arrow next to that button then you see the other choices ("Never Remember Password for this site", "Not Now").<br />

  • Firefox does not save toolbar I made

Since FF upgraded me to Firefox 23 My tool bars are messed
Every time I make a new toolbar Via "Customize" > "Add New Toolbar" after I exit it does not save.
Yes I read over 10 different articles on it.
    1) I deleted the localstore.rdf and started from scratch. After 15 minutes of dragging all the icons to various toolbars I close out of Customize. I then restart Only to find my toolbar not saves and icon missing (placed back into the Customize Box)
    2) Only solution ALWAYS given is going to Safe Mode and resetting everything.
That requires me to spend 5 hours backing all the settings and data I have saved in the various 189 items loaded.
Why so many? If not that many I would have to spend 6 hour more all day on my computer doing things that many of these addons do for me. Time is Money.
    3) This is not the first time over the 8 years or so of using Firefox this has occured.
    4) Question why doen't save when you close out of "Customize" than when you exit? Plus what in Firefox is messed up that it is not saving right?

Nope, I tried it again and added buttons to the New Tool bar I made and everything disappeared once I restarted Firefox up again. So they have not solved it. From FF 23 now on FF26 and it has not been fixed

  • When I closed out of yahoo email, get a blank page on every tab if any are opened. I have to exit out & restart firefox . It does not happen w/any other browser.

When I sign off on yahoo email. I get a blank page on every tab if any are opened. I have to exit out & restart firefox . It does not happen w/any other browser. I have no malware or viruses. Please advise.

Actually, it's not obvious & common sense would dictate that users' bookmarks would not be left stuck to random computers even once they've logged out of the account. No one wants that if it's a public work computer or if they're traveling & use an Internet cafe. As I am not the only one who has noticed this issue or had bookmarks disappear/be deleted, in addition, common sense would indicate it's not really a very good system. And carrying around a flashdrive to run Firefox off of it is a good solution? Really? Just curious why a useful feature such as being able to login & use your preferences & bookmarks & then logging out removes your preferences when you're gone hasn't been developed. Yahoo keeps my preferences when I logout (it's called My Yahoo!). Maybe a My Firefox or My Chrome solution could be developed.
