Firefox 4.0 Installation Hangs on "A Little Housekeeping"

Every single time I try to install Firefox the installation hangs on "A Little Housekeeping."
I have no idea what could be causing this. I have uninstall and reinstalled Firefox multiple times trying to get it to install correctly. When I use task manager to close out of the process Firefox appears to have installed, but it is not listed as a program in the control panels Add/Remove Programs list.

  • Firefox install won't finish, hangs at "A Little Housekeeping..." with the green bar about 90% complete

I downloaded Firefox 11.0, saved it to my desktop and double clicked it to start the install process. Everything seemed to work fine however when the install status bar reached about 90% and displayed "A Little Housekeeping..." the install froze. However I was able to open and use Firefox while the install was frozen. But since I was swapping from Chrome to Firefox I thought maybe there was a software conflict so I killed the install process uninstalled both Firefox and Chrome, ensured their program folders were deleted, ran a registry cleaner, cleared windows prefetch and rebooted the computer to a squeaky clean state. I then reattempted the Firefox install but the same thing happened. My question is: Is this install of Firefox going to be stable in the long run since the install never successfully finished? Everything seems to work fine and I've had no problems but it's only been several hours.

    Hi dazza555,
Usually the only reason it will hang like that is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You can run the installer again just to be sure everything was installed correctly. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
    * Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    # Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
    # [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
    # Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. You should take a look at [[Backing up your information]] before you get started. That way you'll still have your personal information.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Windows 7 installation hangs on 'completing installation' in boot camp

    hi
i am trying to install windows 7 ultimate 32 bit using boot camp and each time i have tried (except on one occasion) the installation has hanged on the 'completing installation' stage. i initially had this problem, then one time it worked, but then i had to wipe my boot camp partition and start again, and since then no joy in installing windows 7 again.
when the installation hangs it sounds like the install DVD is making a whirring sound as though there is an issue reading the DVD. but i have tried two different windows 7 install DVDs in both drives on my Mac Pro and i keep getting the same problem.
i have tried installing without any peripherals plugged in, including my cinema display, but still no joy, except for that one occasion, when i am not aware of having done anything different.
the boot camp partition is 32GB, and i have the same issue whether starting the installation using the boot camp assistant, or just booting from the Windows DVD and formatting the boot camp partition during the install.
can anyone help me troubleshoot this?
    thanks
    nick

On a Mac Pro with four hard disks, you would be better off devoting an entire HDD to Windows. You do not even need to start the Boot Camp Assistant application.
However, that does not appear to be the problem. Perhaps the size of your Windows partition is a bit on the smallish side. Why so small? Have you tried a larger partition? Going larger would be a good experiment to help drill down to the installation problem.
Try to eliminate anything under your control that could be part of the problem.
At 32GB that's the borderline between being permitted to use FAT32 formatting and being required to employ NTFS. Presumably, you allowed the installer to use NTFS. In fact I think Win7 requires NTFS. Switch the partition size a little down or a little up to eliminate that as a possible glitch point. Just a thought and probably a stupid one but you never know...
An afterthought: Can you get hold of a FireWire DVD optical drive. Maybe the internal drive is faulty.

  • Installs hang on G3 B&W

    Hi fellow Mac-lovers,
This Smurf was handed down to me. It had very little memory, a 300Mhz CPU, a small hard drive, and was running 10.1. Piece by peace, I mustered a gig of memory, a 40GB HDD, a Radeon 7000 PCI I had lying around, and finally a Sonnet 500MHZ G4 upgrade, and installed Xubuntu Hardy in it.
Everthing was going well, but I wanted to make sure that the Sonnet CPU was what the seller said it was, and I didn't know how to get that information under Xubuntu, so I erased the HDD and installed 9.2.2. Curiously enough, the CPU was listed as a G3 300Mhz.
I decided to install OS X to make sure, but installing Tiger in the HDD and putting it back didn't work; it would stop halfway during booting and hang there forever. Went back to OS 9, worked fine, still detecting the CPU as a 300Mhz.
Then I decided to install Panther. No go. At the end of the installation of CD 1, it just hangs forever. Tried several times, same luck, or lack thereof. The base OS 9 continued to work, and I checked the HDD using the Disk Utility in the install. Everything looks fine.
Frustrated, I tried Erase and Install with Panther, with the same result, the installer hanging and going nowhere. Tried reinstalling Xubuntu, but the installer also hangs now.
I'm at the end of my wit here. What's going on with this Smurf?
Any feedback will be very appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
P.S. It also has a Sonnet Harmoni PCI card that worked very well in Xubuntu, and should work with the Airport Extreme drivers in Panther, if I ever get to install it...
P.P.S. Now even the OS 9 install hangs...

If you cannot Boot to an OS 9 System/install CD, you have a Hardware Problem. Those CDs serve as an incorruptible source of known-good software, eliminating the Hard Drive and the software on it as a source of problems.
If you have multiple RAM modules, shift each module down one slot and bring the last one around to the first position. If no change, do it again until you have gone through the whole set of possibilities. If no change try removing one module at a time. Above all else, be methodical -- and only change one thing at a time.
If you CAN Boot to the OS 9 System/Install CD, stop right there -- don't Install anything.
Find the copy of Gauge Pro on the Hard Drive and double click on it.
Choose something like "Test Memory" off its Menus.

I have tried to kill and restart the installation 2-3 times and restarting the complete installation once again it stops at the same phase. Kindly let me know what can be the reason because we have not face this issue in DEV and QA environment. It is my production server.
The environment is HP-UX IA64 with oracle 10g.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rajesh,
What stage is the installation hanging at ?
Please provide any error info from sapinst_dev.log
Check if java engine is installed and is up and running or not.. You could check the j2ee work directory under which you find j2ee stack related traces.
e.g. check std_server0 to see if the server is up or not
    Please send more details

  • CRM 2015 installation hangs without errors on Windows Server 2012 installed in a VM

I have installed a Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 on a VM using VMware Player and then installed Dynamics CRM 2013, working out all the configuration problems.
The installation hanged once without errors and when I tried it again it was installed, no problems. Dynamics CRM 2013 works without issue.
Then I copied the machine, uninstalled the Dynamics CRM 2013 and started installing CRM 2015. However this time without errors the installation hangs even though I tried more than 5 times.
There are no errors, installation program is not unresponsive and task manager shows nothing out of the ordinary.
I have also tried this on multiple physical and virtual PCs to no avail.

  • Installation hangs with Third Party Source component

    Hi,
The installation hangs when it is installing Third Party Source (57%) in my environment.
    This is my environment:
    1. Solaris 10 x86 5/08
    2. SunStudio12ml-solaris-x86-200709-pkg.tar
    3. Installation method: single user, graphical user interface
    4. Hardware: VMware Workstation 6.0.2, CPU 1.5G, memory 400M
I searched in SunStudio12ml-solaris-x86-200709-pkg.tar, and I could not find SPROrdbks package which belongs to Third Party Source component.
I suspect this is the root cause of my installation problem. I restart the installation, and I do not select to install Third Party Source component. But the installation process now hangs when it is installing Performance Library (56%). I don't what is the root cause :P
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you very much!
    Regards,
    O2Cabin

    Hi,
You could find log in the /var/sadm/install/logs directory. Probably it helps you.
    (for example: /var/sadm/install/logs/Sun_Studio_Ceres_software_install.B09161643)
Unfortunately the SunStudio12 installer could have problems with virtual environments.
The Sun Studio is distributed as tar.bz2 archive (for latest Express it is wrapped into sh script).
You could just unpack it. The only difference is that there no packages are created.
    Could this helps you?
Also if you use OpenSolaris you could install Sun Studio from IPS.
    Thank you

  • B1DIEvent Service on Windows Server 2008 x64 - installation hanging

I'm trying to install the B1DIEvent Service on a Windows 2008 x64 Server but the installation is not completing. It does create the directories in the SAP folder but the installer hangs at roughly 95%.
It seems to not be able to register the service on the server.
Does anyone know if there would be compatability issues with Wondows 2008 Server x64? Or are there any speciffic steps that I can take to install this?
I have installed MSMQ on the server.
    Any help would be appreaciated.
    Best wishes
    Edu van Zyl

    Hi Edu,
Did you followed the instructions compiled in the other threads showing how to recompile the dll???
Just follow step by step what is described there, it should work.
DI EVENT SERVICE ON 64 SERVER
    1. Change compilation option to x64
    2. You have to replace the following 2 lines modified marked with:
    char msg[ 398 ]; // Old was mgs[378]
    sock, msg, 398, 0, (const struct sockaddr*)&sAddr, sizeof(struct
    sockaddr_in));
    3. Replace the old dll by the new one compiled
    4. Don't forget to register the dll (after compiling and copying in the right folder):
    C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business
One DI Event Service\SAP Business One DI Event Server\SBO_SP_TransactionNotification\B1DIEventsSender.dll"
Both Ad and Andres succeeded to do it.
    Hope it helps
    Trinidad.

  • Oracle Installer hangs at 18% on a file naeet.o

Oracle Installer hangs at 18% on a file naeet.o
    installer also show.. link pending..
machine is 64 bit. with OEL4 64 bit
    i have oracle 9i R2 64 bit...which i am trying to install...
i've installed all the required rpms as described in Oracle-base .
    Plz help.

Step by Step Installation 9.2.0.4 on EL5.5.
    1. Make sure Java libraries are up to date.. (sysad side..)
    2. Do not start installation from the 9204 base installation- Oracle Universal Installer has problem
2.1 Install first the OUI "only" from the 9206 patchset (p3948480_9206_Linux-x86-64.zip)
using the Oracle_Home youve just decided. While running runinstaller from 9206, choose second option thats for OUI Installation. Once installation is done check under Oracle 9i Home you would see /product/9204/oui/oraparam.ini and /product/9204/oui/bin/runInstaller. If you dont find /product/9204/oui/bin/runInstaller. You may have to rerun the runinstaller from 9206.
2.2 In ../Disk1/install/oraparam.ini edit the Linux value under [Certified Versions]
    Linux=redhat-2.1AS,redhat-2.1,redhat-3,redhat-4,redhat-5,UnitedLinux-1.0,SuSE-9,SuSE-
    * value must include redhat-5 inorder to suppress the error message for OS version incompat.
2.3 After completion of OUI install, edit again ../product/9204/oui/oraparam.ini as instructed
    in step 2.2
2.4 Now install the 9204 base using the OUI from 9206. Run ../product/9204/oui/bin/runInstaller BUT
this time, select the "products.jar" from 9204 base installation set.
    (ex: /u01/app/oracle/Disk1/stage/products.jar)
2.5 From here u should be able to install the SOFTWARE ONLY option. DO NOT create a database yet.
    3. Patch the 9204 base with the 9207 patchset (p4163445_92070_Linux-x86-64.zip)
3.1 After decompressing contents, repeat step 2.2 again to suppress OS version incompat.
3.2 Now proceed with the patch application
    4. You can now create a database using the "dbca" utility.
