Firefox 4.0 new bookmarks not saved

Been using FireFox 4.0.1 since it was released. Works fine until I noticed a few days ago that it suddenly stopped saving new bookmarks. I typically drag the url by it's icon over to the folder I want it to reside in...I have quite a few. It worked fine last week, apparently, since I see some recent bookmarks. But I've now tried two times to save a group of pages, one at a time, i n the same folder. And the next day they are gone!

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

* Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

Bookmarks &history disappeared - cannot import/restore,new bookmarks not saved

My bookmarks & history have completely disappeared. Organiser completely empty. When I try 'Import:restore' and choose a date, message tells me cannot process file! When I try to bookmark an open page, it doesn't get added to bookmarks list. I am running Firefox 3.6.3 on XP. Please reply in words of one syllable as I'm not an expert on inner workings of Firefox.

"New bookmark" not working properly.

When I go to a bookmarks folder called "Music > Performers" and right click on the folder one of the choices is "new bookmark" However, when I click on "new bookmark" nothing happens. Also: I'm disappointed that "organize bookmarks" no longer appears when I click on "Bookmarks." I need a simple solution. I don't feel that I should use my profile to backup all my bookmarks in order to resolve what seems to me to be a simple problem.

Add new bookmark not working

Running Firefox 3.6.13 on a Dell Inspiron laptop. Everything works great, except for one catch: I can't add new bookmarks. Pressing Control+D does nothing, clicking add new bookmark does nothing, dragging the tab into the dropdown bookmark menu does nothing. I've tried the entire tree of options on the Bookmarks not saved Troubleshooing page (https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Bookmarks%20not%20saved) which, among other things, involved resetting my localstore file, disabling all my extensions/themes/add-ons. I also disabled my Norton 360 firewall, which apparently can cause issues, but this didn't seem to solve it. And I have of course done the usual, deleted all cookies/browser cache etc and tried rebooting. Any idea what else I should try?
MAJOR EDIT: Just realized it doesn't work in Safe Mode. What had happened was I tried to bookmark Google (not realizing I already had) and it let me do that, which is the same in normal firefox- pressing Control+D will bring up the expected box, but only on pages I'd previously bookmarked.

Yes, as I said I tried that. I've disable every single one of my add-ons, themes and extensions but it still won't bookmark. EDIT: Does not work, even in Safe Mode. I agree that's weird behavior but the instructions there don't solve it.
For troubleshooting reference though, here's all the extensions/themes I have installed-if any of them have known issues even when disabled:

New bookmarks not being saved

Beginning today my new bookmarks are not being saved. I read several KB articles and have tried:
- making sure the bookmarks file is not read-only
- reset browser.places in about:config
- renamed the places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal, and restarted Firefox.
None of that worked.
Is there another fix to try?

Bookmarks are not being saved.
I still have my existing bookmarks.
All existing bookmarks work.
But when I click on "bookmark this page", it never gets added.
There's really nothing to take a screenshot of, other than my old bookmarks.

New records not saved

there are 3 main data block in a form. Block A is master of block B(multiple row block) while B is master of C(multiple row block).
Initially, I enter 1 row in A, 1 row in B and 3 rows in C. So, 5 records are saved. Anyway, when I execute the form later... and want to insert another row in B and another 3 rows in C. These new records are not saved.
Can anybody help me on this ?

Recreate Problem: Change the checkbox value of an item under OnChange and OnClick and press "Submit", only OnChange items actually change.
On this report, the two columns "OnChange" and "OnClick" are the focus. They are both simple check boxes and basically have the same settings. They both call an empty javascript function "test_me(this)" when clicked. Difference is, the MRU works for the "OnChange" column, updates are applied. You can change the "Onclick" column and submit all you want and it does nothing.
If you remove the event for OnClick="test_me(this);" from the "OnClick" column, the submit/updates work just fine.
(If anyone changes the demo, please return to prior state for others to examine)

Mail App - New Accounts not saving

Im creating new accounts, but once I close the Mail app they are not saving (I can see the account while I have Mail open, but once I close it they dissapear from both the Mail app mail folders and the Accounts/Settings).
This is the error Im getting in the Console

I have verified permissions via Disk Utility, but that hasnt helped.

I have fixed it! All I did was to select "replace all information in iPhone from Maill" and worked.

Bookmarks not saved

I can't get my browser to bookmark anything. I can edit my previously saved ones, but new ones just don't happen. Yes, it's up-to-date, the latest update available. And yes, I went through the trouble shooter and reset firefox to it's original settings. didn't work.
HELP!!

You can't sign in because there is nothing to sign in to. For PSE 10 the only sign in was to photoshop.com, which has been dead and gone for a year and half. Just skip the sign in. Reinstalling will not change this.

Are the bookmarks not saved in a seperate folder like IE for us to restore it once again

The bookmarks in Firefox are stored in a file inside the [[profiles|profile folder]].
You have a few choices. For just the bookmarks you can use the old computer to create a backup file, and then restore the backup file into the new computer. Fore details see [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]].
You can copy more than just the bookmarks, for example you can also copy passwords, cookies, browsing history and settings. For details see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup Profile backup - MozillaZine Knowledge Base] or [[Backing up your information]].
There are some add-ons and utilities that can make this process easier. The first one is the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109/ FEBE] add-on which can be used to copy a profile. Another option is the free [http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ MozBackup] utility.

Obmenu - new menu not saved

obmenu has been working fine, while adding/removing items like firefox, nautilus, etc..
However, new menus are not showing up. I've tried rebooting, doesn't work. Anybody know why?

The same happens to me, I have it installed on two machines. My laptop has openbox and also gnome installed, and in there it works flawlessly, but in the desktop, where I only have openbox it only works when adding stuff to the menu categories that came as default, whenever I try to create a new one or to rearrange the order of the categories it fails to load. I have tried to modify the menus by directly editing the menu.xml fle, and still the problem persists. If I remove the menu.xml it reconfigures to the default menu, i've tried modifiying that one by replacing its xml code to the one I need and still the same problem applies!!! (I just did a copy paste of my menu.xml to the one it creates by default).
Does anyone have a clue?

New albums not saving

I've had difficulty with iPhoto 09. The program has been acting inconsistently and crashes when I try to close it or just when moving between albums. I've created a new album, moved a bunch of pictures into it, then after iPhoto closes, the album is not there anymore. Also, some but not all of my changes to several events have disappeared. For example, I move some photos from one event into another, and then after I reopen the program after a crash, the photos are back in their original spot. Why is this happening? There should be automatic saving as soon as the photos have been moved. Is anyone else seeing this?

Click on the Finder icon in your dock.
Click on the Home icon on the left hand side on the sidebar.
__You can also go to the menu at the very top of the computer screen that says "Go" and choose "Home" from there.
Double-click on the Library folder.

Firefox 4 forgets my settings (not saving history, asking where to download, starting page etc) every time I reboot laptop.

Also all add-on pages appear every time I log in to Windows and start Firefox, for example the black colorzilla page that starts with the text This page will only be shown once. Not funny at all.

Once I exit Firefox, my online login is not saved. I have followed the advice in the forum, but it does not work once you log out of FF

With my older computer, I could save my banking online login id, but I can't get it to work on this one. I set the privacy settings as follows: Use custom settings for history
Items checked are:
Remember my browsing history
Remember download history
Remember search & form history
Accept cookies from sites
Keep until they expire.
Nothing else is checked off.

it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Bookmarks not saved in Time Machine!?!?

Hello,
My MBP HDD recently crashed and I'm trying to re-install all of the bookmarks from my last TM backup.
However, I can't seem to find them in the usual place(s) that people are claiming they are located (/Library/Safari/.plist for example).
In fact, my browsers (Safari, Chrome, FF) are not even folders in /Library.
Please let me know how to get all of those bookmarks back.

Wrong place. /Users/your username/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist for Safari. I haven't a clue about the other browsers.
