Firefox 4.0 would not run on mac os x, can't get back to 3.6.1

I got a message that 4.0 was available for downloading. I downloaded 4.0 and installed it in apps. when clicked firefox the error message advised me that 4.0 would not run on mac os x.

I too was a mobileme user and have just migrated to iCloud on mackbook pro w/OS 10.7.4. Transition caused my sent mailboxes to rearrange themselves so that I have no comprehensive 'sent' mailbox as I did previously and the view on both incoming and outgoing mailboxes keeps rearranging itself no matter how many times I set preferences. One result is that search function no longer works. Is anyone else having problems like this? All was fine for a week after transition but after having an evening when my password was repeatedly rejected I had to log in and out of iCloud (as directed by tech support) and w/in an hour or so the mailbox problem began.

I see you are using a PPC Mac with OSX 10.5.8.
Either you can use the last release from Mozilla worked on PPC which is 3.6.*.

I changed the resolution of my MAC MINI. Then te TV says back: Display not supported but the MAC does not go back to the previous setting...

Thank you for your help sofar... Unfortunately that did not work out yet. I tried restarting and after the grey startup screen with Apple logo I still receive the message "Not supported". Even trying to go up- and down with the arrow keys after seconds of waiting does not change anything.
Isn't there some kind of menu available to change settings at startup or so?
This problem exists with VGA due to my fiddeling <?> I also have a DVI connection which gives an image so I can get into the MAC. Unfortunately the DVI picture is crap. (see my other posting on that matter

FF 6 does not load bank websites. How can I get back FF5?

Both bank websites I need cannot be accessed with Firefox 6. Other browsers work fine. How can I get Firefox 5 back? I have uninstalled Firefox 6. I cannot use FF6.
I also do not like how other web pages view in Firefox 6. Bring back Firefox 5 or I will go back to IE9 for good.

What kind of problems do you have with accessing the websites?
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

when I go to the gmail website I am able to sign in .
after I sign in it takes me to the usual page which says " loading [email protected] which usually takes a moment or two.
now it tmes out with the messages :

Help!! I messed with 'users' under Mac HD and can't get back!!!

I got this computer from my father-in-law a while ago and went to change his username to mine. I thought i did so successfully. I also grabbed the shared folder and chucked it in the trash (something I'm sure I shouldn't have done). Later I'm browsing on Safari and it unexpectedly quit. I opened it again and all my settings (bookmarks, etc.) were gone. I restarted my computer and nothing changed. My Mail is completely reset, my address book too and who knows what else. All I want to do is go back.
Presently under users I have 3 icons:
1) first one is "Dean" with a folder icon. Dean info states that it's 1.49 GB in size and created back in March 2005
2) then there's "JON" (my father-in-law's name) with the house icon. JON info states that it's 12.3 MB in size and created last night (when all this happened).
3) lastly there's "Shared" with a folder icon. Shared info states that it's 4 KB in size and created last night as well.
Clearly the Dean folder is where all my past history and info is and is what I want back. When I click on it I get the following folders: Desktop Documents, Library, Movies, Music Pictures, Public, etc. Each folder with my personal documents, pictures etc. So it seems to me that everything is there but how do I get it back to Dean being the default user. please excuse my inept terminology and knowledge in these things. I do hope someone can help me get my safari settings, email and address book back. Thank-you.

You may have some opportunity to recover from your ill fated attempt to change usernames.
Please read Recover from renaming your Home folder by Dr. Smoke. Although I doubt that it will help recover items from the deleted shared folder it may restore a semblance of normalcy regarding some of your other problems.
If the files in the shared folder are critical, stop using the computer and consider Data Rescue II for file recovery.

i downloaded firefox 4 but did not notice that it required osx10.5 as my computer is running 10.4.11 installed program ok but when trying to open it i get message that it will not run on my system.
how do i get back to 3.6 as firefox 4 appears to have deleted all the old files. can i retrieve my bookmarks etc and where can i download version 3.6

V4 replaced my v3.6 then would not work on Mac X 10.4.11 why was there no warning, Now I've lost all my bookmarks

I did not get a warning that v4 would not run on Mac X v 10.4.11
As a result when I replaced my v3.6 with v4 it would not boot up and I got an error message that it would not run on my system.
Now I have lost all my book marks and references that were on v3.6
Foxfire should have put a warning that it was not a universal replacement for v4 and would crash most Mac X v10 systems.
Why was there no warning???

I grabbed an older version of Foxfire 3.5.17 off a friends computer and it booted up great. It ever retrieved all my old bookmarks that I thought were lost.
Yes, you are correct. My Motorola Mac X with system 11.4 will not run the new Foxfire 4.0.
I only wish Foxfire would put a warning on the system requirements for 4.0.
They also need to provide a much better library of downloads for older versions of Foxfire, with an easy link on the Foxfire.com opening page.

Yes I've read every one of them, none of them provide solutions whatsoever, I have spent about ten hours on this site in the past two days to no avail, none of the "resolved" threads provided any sort of solution for me, I have tried everything suggested on this website so far, multiple times, to no avail.

The easiest way would be to update to at least 10.7.5 (supported on most older Macs) but maybe you have strong reasons not to do so, however it will put you in to more trouble in the future because newer applications have more often the habit of not being able to support older OS versions due to limitations of this old OS.

However PS CC should still work on your system and otherwise CS6 should. As a cloud subscriber you still have access to both CC and CS6 on the Adobe CC download pages. But only PS is a major upgrade (changed to version 2014) and Bridge has just a minor update and should still work on 10.6.8 I would think?
Installing the updates and upgrades did not remove or uninstall the CC versions of PS, otherwise use CC application to install CC again.

Netflix is stuck on the loading cue with the blue dot circling.
Spent hours on phone with Microsoft and Netflix, neither one was able to help me and told me to find help with Apple.
Already tried:
- Deleting ALL silverlight files/uninstall and reinstalling updated version 5 multiple times with restarting computer
- Cleaning history/cache
- Checked connectivity issues
- Changed proxy/hardware settings on wifi connection
- Check audio output/input settings
- Tried Chrome and Safari - same issue. Silverlight states that its not compatible with Firefox 17.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I was forced to update to firefox v4, only to find out that it does NOT run on Mac OSX10.4.11. I can nor re-load the older version v3.6.11. It means that we need to migrate to anther system provider. This is a shame since we like Firefox's features. Can you help suggest way forward pls?

You run Windows in Parallels or Fusion. Then in Windows you install the program.

you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac. you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party.
