Firefox 4 findbar is strange and annoying

hi,
the findbar i mean is that one activated by pressing ctrl+f.
when i start typing in the box, the cursor jumps out in the middle of the word and the rest gets ignored. it happens sometimes, when firefox finds a piece matching it (but not the right one of course), or finds out that there are no words matching it any more. sometimes it just happens for no logical reason. if i misstype, press backspace and he decides to throw out the cursor, i go a page backwards (this annoys me the most). sometimes he jumps out after every single character and it takes lots of time to type the whole word.
the opposite is happening on the google-page: when i place the cursor outside the search box (for example when i press backspace, to go back a page - im using this often on my laptop because it has no mouse), it just goes in again and changes my searching results.
both problems occur on my pc and my laptop as well. i dont know if this is a bug or something else, but it wasnt happening with firefox 3.5. looked for a solution for quite some time now. is there a way to fix this?

the problem was caused by the plugin "fast video download 4.0.2", which i forgot to mention, though i havent found a solution yet to make it and the searchbar work properly. ill check for updates now.

edit: no updates found, but the solution is to disable the searchmenu in the plugin (dont know anyway what its doing) either by clicking on the icon >> options >> disable searchmenu or in the settings in the add-ons. plugin still working and searchbox now properly working.

Hello, I am writing as I am experiencing some issues with my favorite web browser after updating to Windows 8.1. Here are some details. I updated from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 and ever since Firefox has run somewhat strangely. In particular when on sites with a lot of images like Facebook. It is like there is some kind of Flikr effect between the desktop and the images and between the images and the browser (almost like old 16 bit video games flikering). It is not too bad but it is an issue. I have tried resetting firefox and restarting the computer. I haven't tried a repair, and I haven't done an uninstall yet.

I'm finding it frusrtrating and annoying since I cannot use Firefox 4.0 Beta 6. It works on other accounts excluding mine - What is this crap rigged or something? I have to resort to crappy Google Chrome and Safari since it messed up on both of my computers... New versions of Flash have a panel installed on your system for control of settings.
In Windows XP, Windows Start > Settings > Control Panel > Flash Player, click on each tab and change the "Ask..." setting. Most likely your prompts are coming from the "Storage" tab. Using any of the "Block..." settings may make Flash inoperative on some sites.

How do I uninstall Firefox 4.0 Beta 12 and go back to the older vers

I made a mistake by downloading Firefox 4.0 Beta 12 and I can't work with this version. How do I go back to the older version. I need help quickly as I am unable to print my work. This is bad.

Some websites load strange and hyperlinks are ineffective in Windows 7?

I have windows 7, which is a 64 bit system? I have discovered that Firefox is still operating in 32 bits for the time being. Would that explain why certain pages load strange and certain links are unresponsive? Things seem to be working fine with explorer, but I really like Firefox.

Sometimes I just want to close ONLY one window, but Firefox is closing ALL TABS, and I don't want this!

I sometimes will open several windows, especially from my Comcast mailbox. When I am through with that window, I will close it, but leave the other ones open. FIrefox won't do this any more, When I close 1 window, Firefox send me a message stating that it is CLOSING ALL TABS. I DONT WANT TO CLOSE all of them, I just want to close the window I am closing!. Dropdownmenu in infowindow of googlemaps act strange and doesn't work

I tested it and I fill in a city in rideshare from and press enter and the icon of this city appears in the map, then I fill in a city in rideshare to and press enter and the icon of this city appears in the map as well. Then I click on one of the icons in the map and I can fill in a ride. Only the visible dropdown menu's act strange and choosing has no effect. That is the problem!?

Why is firefox continually blocking valid websites and redirecting?

Firefox frequently (and annoyingly) blocks trusted sites from loading, sites like Sprint.com, for example. I know of no instance where they have blocked a malicious site and I find this practice annoying. How may I stop this from occurring?

It might be that you are logged in with HTTP authentication (either basic or digest). This authentication is arranged by the browser, so you would have seen a pop-up dialog asking for a user name and password while logging in. It seems that these are cached by the browser and it requires you to restart the browser to log out...

Because I found that having to restart the browser quite annoying I stumbled on this question and also on the HTTP Logout add-on that allows you to log out without restarting your browser. Not many sites use HTTP Authentication, but you might give it a try.

Firefox persistently wants to restart and then suggests to install important update that it cannot find on the server!

Hi,
Every day I receive a request to restart Firefox after an update. I do this and then shortly after I receive a message that says 'It is strongly recommended that you install this update'. If I agree Firefox says 'connecting to server' and shows a cyclic progress bar building left to right for hours (days if not cancelled). So I now cancel the update but even so I get the added issue explained below.
The Vista 'Start' menu shows a pending update every day coincidental with the above (N.B. MS only post updates on Tuesday-Wednesday nights unless a severe security fix) and some programs will not work until I restart the computer!
This is most annoying and a resolution is required soonest please. If you need more information please let me know.

Google Toolbar is an addon, and every addon has a maximum version number set by the addon developers. Google Toolbar apparently is compatible with Firefox 5, and the only reason it doesn't work is because the Google developers have not updated their toolbar's maximum version number. You can either wait for them to do so, or follow the directions at the link above to change the number yourself.
