Firefox 4 hangs a little on every action - typing, moving the window, selecting a menu item, selecting a tab, ...

Since installing Firefox 4 RC2, and now Firefox 4, Firefox constantly hangs on every action. Just in typing this message, the program pauses for a second or two every few words. Opening a tab, selecting a menu item or even moving the Firefox window incurs a brief pause of a second or two. This makes the users experience terribly slow. I've tried turning off sync and starting Firefox with extensions disabled. Nothing seems to help. I upgraded from RC2 but then deleted and reinstalled Firefox.
I'm having this problem on my MacBook Pro, which is pretty new (less than a year old) and otherwise very fast (i.e., i7 processor and 8Gb RAM). I have the newest version of OS X (10.6.7) and have updated all extensions.
I've watched my system monitor and Firefox is constantly and repeatedly going from low to near 100% CPU use every few seconds. I have no special, unusual settings (I've gone through preferences).
This is getting so bad that I'm about ready to abandon FireFox. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Which says to delete your sessionstore.js from your profile. It seems to have worked so far on my macbook pro.

My new Firefox ver 29 always starts maximized how do i set the window size and not maximized?

Firefox 4 hangs at loading so I can't see the toolbar to fix it. I just downloaded it.

Firefox 4 hangs BEFORE getting the toolbar and I can't get in to change settings such as system restore settings and the other solutions you have in the help section. ALSO, your help section only shows 3.6 and earlier solutions which really bugs me. If you're going to come out with new version PLEASE put out the solutions for it.

Sorry, but I don't. Have never used a TV as a monitor. My suggestion was just a thought. Perhaps someone else will have a workable solution.
If the menubar is visible then it may be some adjustment that's needed perhaps on the TV itself which has it's own zoom. If it's set to an incorrect screen mode then it may cut off portions of the display - just a guess. Try switching the display mode on the TV to see if that resolves the problem.
As for the mini itself I'd set it to a resolution mode that most closely corresponds to what the TV can display. If it can display 1080p, then set the mini's display resolution to 1680 x 1050.

How do I stop Firefox from checking add-on compatibilty every time I start the program?

In the past 2 days, every time I start Firefox, a "What's New" tab (checking for compatibility of add-ons?) pops up in addition to my homepage tab. How can I keep the "What's New" tab from coming up? It seems like this starting happening after I updated to Firefox 6.0.

Every time I close a window that has opened up (not a tab) all the open windows close and it's driving me nuts!

If I have opened up a link and it comes up as a separate window and not a tab, then I go to close that window, all the other Firefox windows that are open will close too. Is there anything to prevent this? It is extremely annoying when I have to go and open all the windows/tabs again!

The windows of the Windows bar are already a form of tabs, so I don't need them in Firefox. How can I disable them completely from Firefox 23?

The Windows bar already functions as a tab bar. Those tabs are called "windows." So, I find Firefox tab windows superfluous. How can I disable them completely from Firefox 23? I don't need what is essentially TWO windows bars covering up the entire width of my widescreen monitor's image! I already have a Windows bar at the bottom of my screen and, if I really wanted to, I could change ITS position to the top of the screen, so that it would LOOK like the Firefox tab windows bar. Firefox TABS are, essentially, a superfluous SECOND WINDOWS BAR.
Here are my reasons for why I'd rather use Mozilla's Firefox, than Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Google's Chrome. Let me clarify even more. The Firefox add-on you mention does not remove "tabs" windows. It only HIDES the "tabs" bar when there is only one "tab" in that window. It DOES NOT end "tabs." It does not turn "tabs" off.
I know this, because, even with the add-on you recommend, the "tabs" bar often re-appears when I open a link, which--for some unknown reason--Firefox defaults to opening in a second "tab" within the same window, rather than putting it in a new Windows bar window. This, of course, disregards what I want to happen.

To get the new UI you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

2 or 3 days ago I clicked to download Firefox 3.6 update and it is still scrolling in the window "Downloading" What is wrong?

When it kept scrolling through for days, I clicked on "details" in the "scroll window" and the info was about Firefox 3.6, so I'm assuming that is what is being downloaded. ID CS 3.0.1 (838) crashes every time I use the Direct Selection Tool

We have recently installed an upgrade to InDesign CS for being able to open documents generated by newer ID versions, thus turning the InDesign version into CS 3.0.1 (838).
Since then, every time we start to use the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow) the program crashes.
As this is a relatively old upgrade (2005), I was hoping to find the solution on the Internet but had no success.
Does anyone know what should we do to solve this problem?

Yes, I did. Even though we're in Brazil, we prefer to use the softwares in their native language (english) in order to get eventual updates more quickly. This also applies to the operational environment (Windows XP Professional - SP3, with the most recent updates installed)

It forgets history and passwords every time I close the window.

I close the window, then re-open it later and all my passwords and history are just gone. I need to log back in to everything and type in full urls and it's really ''annoying''.

Firefox is Hanging (not full crashing) every time I press a keyboard key.. can't type URLs, can't scroll. Problem started this week and remains reproducible sadly.

Firefox hangs (freezes) when I press keyboard keys on my laptop (and only then).
Can't type URLs or scroll with the keyboard, for instance. Hence why this is being typed up on Internet Explorer. The problem is that my version of IE isn't registering Flash and/or Java as being fully active and up to date and I use Firefox more often.
This problem only appeared this week but now occurs every time; and has persisted after uninstalling and reinstalling (personal options uninstalled).

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
