Firefox 4 is hard to read, the fonts are fuzzy as in IE 9

Hi, with Firefox 4 the fonts are now the same as in Internet Explorer 9 : it is unclear, mostly in nonserif fonts.
Is there a way I can disable that strange new feature?

Hi Co-rel, for the windows Update, I got this message : "This download is not appropriate for your computer"
I believe too it is something in my system because it does the same for Internet Explorer 9. Also on my laptop it really looks fine. I really would like to know what is that kind of new feature that is giving me trouble.
In my desktop have a graphic card. Would it be part of the clue?

  • HT2513 ICal works great but the fonts are small and hard to read unlike Outlook. Any suggestions?

I have a MacPro and use ICal. I loke OUtlook because I can see it better and it is frankly more pleaseng to the eye. And the fonts are large enough. Of course, other than than Outlook is a nightmare on the lack of syncing etc...
I am resigned to using ICal but is there a way to change it's look? Or an emulation program that will use ICal but present it better on the screen?

Many of your points are totally legitimate.
    This one, however, is not:
…To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help"…
The design and management of the forums for more than five years have driven literally dozens of the most valuable contributors and "regulars" away from the forums—permanently.
The only conclusion a prudent, reasonable person can draw from this state of affairs is that Adobe consciously and deliberately want to kill these forums by attrition—without a the PR hit they would otherwise take if they suddenly just shut them down.

  • I just downloaded the update for Firefox 4 and all the fonts are wierd - unreadable.

The fonts are strange and there are weird symbols making it hard to read.

Do you have an orange Firefox button in the upper left, or do you have the customary menu bar (File, Edit, View, etc.)?
Either way, you can check your current Firefox version using Help > About Firefox.
To switch from having a menu bar to having the orange button, right-click in a blank area after Help and uncheck Menu Bar. Then, to display the menu bar temporarily, you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key.
Regarding the start page, there must be something just a little bit custom about the address. Otherwise, you would have been changed to '''about:home''' which is the new start page.

  • When Printing a web page from Firefox. The fonts are timy and all spacing is incorrect.

Prior to beta 4.12, the pages printed correctly. Now, the fonts are small and the text spacing is incorrect. All text has at least one extra space between the letters.
This happens on ALL sites when printing a web page.
I tried printing the same page in Internet Explorer and it prints correctly.

  • My wife is very color deficient and has a hard time with the font colors in call log. Any way to change and does Apple have plans to correct?

My wife is color deficient and has a hard time with the font colors in the phone log and messaging. Is there any way to change color or background and does Apple have plans to correct this?

There are some minor settings in Accessibility that you can look at, however it really isn't much for color changing. As far as what Apple might have in mind, we are not Apple here, we are users like you. It is against the terms of service to speculate what Apple might have in mind. If you want to provide feedback to Apple, that is done here: www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.

  • I cant read the font on my mail

When I open my email, I get a font with a capital A in a box and can't read anything. Is there a setting I could try?

Strange that it would work to clear the caches, come back in rather short order, and then not work the next time. I would have to guess the fonts are damaged.
This could be a rather annoying problem if your Mac came with Lion since restoring the fonts means reinstalling the entire OS by booting to the Restore partition. If you upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard, then this isn't as hard. Especially if you kept the downloaded OS installer.
Presuming the latter, follow the instructions at the bottom of Font Management in OS X. It explains how to open the OS X Lion installer and use Pacifist to restore just the fonts. If you didn't save the Lion installer, you can retrieve it again by going to the App Store and listing your purchased items. You'll have a Download link next to OS X Lion. What downloads is always the full install of the latest version, which at this time will be 10.7.5.
When the download completes, it will want to install right away. Press Command+Q to quit out of the installer. At this point, you have the ability to back it up to an external drive so you don't have to wait for a 4 GB download again next time you need it. The installer is in the Applications folder. After you've backed up the Lion installer, you can proceed to install just the fonts out of it. Though really, as long as it's sitting there, I'd just reinstall the entire OS.
None of the above helps if your Mac came with Lion. You're pretty much forced to use the Restore partition to do a reinstall of the OS over the Internet since I don't believe you can download the OS installer separately.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

Check Finderr->Preferences->General and ensure that HDs are selected for display. If so and they still don't, Reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Reset the SMC, and see if that does the trick.

The activated fonts are not the same version as those in the PDF. If you use Type>Find Font and replace the fonts with ones from your computer does it work?

all the fonts are in caps and the cap lock is not on.  PSE 8  Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Suggest that you reset preferences. This will frequently correct things like you are experiencing.
    Windows
Step 1. Hold down the Alt + Ctrl + Shift keys as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.
Step 2. Reset the preferences .
Step 3. Close Elements and let the file regenerate.

The only way to increase the fonts on your desktop would be system wide by going down a notch on the resolution. Some people won't do it because it increases the pixel size so the fonts won't be quite as sharp; I decided I'd rather have that than having to squint continuously. Go to System Preferences > Displays > Scaled > this will give you all resolution options available. No harm in trying - just check the default (top) choice again if you don't like any of the others.
It's a b*&^ch getting old .  I still use the screen zoom instead of decreasing resolution, but maybe soon ...

Sounds that you installed a Persona.
You can uninstall your current Persona and revert to the Default theme (Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Have you tried resetting the Type tool?
    Click on the icon ...
...... select Reset Tool from the drop down list.
If that doesn't work, please let know which operating system you are running on.

When opening a pdf document in Adobe Reader the font of the original document is changed....It becomes a mix of the original font and a new different font. How can i fix this

This issue occurs with most of the PDFs that I open up. I am using the latest version of adobe reader on my windows based machine and it is a general PDF. I saw a similar post online stating that if you look at the fonts used in the document and it doesn't say (Embedded) next to it, then Adobe Reader will try to pull the font(s) from your computer and if it doesn't find that font then it will replace it which makes it look funny.
